Here is a great authentic sauce: 1/2 cup of water in a sauce pan; bring to boil and add 1/2 cup of sugar just until dissolved; add 1/2 cup of rice viniger and 1/3 cup of fish sauce. Just crush up some unsalted peanuts with a mortar and pestle to add on top. Great for dipping either summer or spring rolls! Likely to get this sauce in a Thai restaurant.
I make my spring rolls so diffrent. We put Salads like u guys have shrimp Cucumbers ummm thoses smelly eaf thingy ummm and bean sprouts and those vietnamese meat call Cha. And ummm we just steam da Shrimp and then steam Bean sprouts and other veggies and then we wrap it up lol

In my family and many in the local Vietnamese community, we call them spring rolls, but in actuality they are summer rolls. Thanks for the clarification, and I changed the title of the video.
The vermicelli noodles are made out of rice. So they're rice noodles. In some areas, they would refer to these as summer rolls, and in some areas, they're referred to as spring rolls. It's all relative.
I'm Vietnamese too and I've been here all my life. I was born in the North, where spring rolls and other traditional food are most popular. Moreover, I know how to call Vietnamese ingredients in English.
CASSAVA VERMICELLI, sometimes called Vermicelli noodles, is Miến. It's made of Cassava or Green beans! RICE NOODLES is Bún, of course it's made of rice. People label "Miến" and "Bún" the same way, Vermicelli, & that causes misunderstanding.
Vietnamese spring rolls are the fried. Summer rolls are not, & its filling are fresh vegie & basil, rice noodles Bún, pork, sometimes shrimps & pickles.
There are different versions but we should know the original to call & make it right.
I understand what you're saying, but there are also "Rice Vermicelli" noodles made from rice. The ingredients are rice flour and water. I don't think I've ever eaten cassava vermicelli. And I got the summer roll/ spring roll thing. Yes, there's been a misconception between one and the other, and the summer roll is the one that is not fried. I always referred to the fried ones as egg rolls (cha gio) and the unfried ones as spring roll.. but now I know that that's not the case.
well, Spring Roll is called "Chả giò" in the South and "Chả Nem" in the North. It's fillings are Cat's ears fungus, Cassava vermicelli Miến, eggs, bean sprouts, grinded pork, shrimps, sea-crab meat, shallot and garlic.
Egg Roll "trứng cuộn" is similar to Omelette, but we have to roll it up, and it's definitely not "Chả giò". Vietnamese don't even have that dish.
The ones your family make in the vid is Summer roll - as you've known, and it's called "Gỏi cuốn" in Vietnamese.
thanks for posting the video..i've always wanted to know how to make my own rolls..now i have a favor to ask you..how do u make the peanut dipping sauce?

I love springrolls!!! I find it tastes better if you chop all the vegetables into small strands rather than the long pieces like these.
It gives it a little texture.

This is wrong. you call this Spring rolls?
Wow... this is definitely NOT. This is summer rolls, and never put vermicelli into summer rolls. Use rice noodles instead man!
