I recently have taken carp fishing more seriously, not because of being told they were bad tasting but for the fact carp do not bite well in my area. They're plenty of them but something in the environment about 15 years caused them to not bite anymore. But I found in the creek nearby that the carp are very abundant and they BITE! Very happy I have a place not 4 miles from my house I can go to and land large fish.

go to Howard Ohio where the stream ends from the lake at the waterfalls there are hundreds of carp there, albino's even. You can see them at the top of the water you could probably hop in and grab about 3 at a time with minimal effort....don't know why in god's green f**k anyone would want carp they are bottom feeders and as long as it would take to clean the mud veins out of them it isn't worth cleaning and cooking, and they are not even a good sporting fish they don't fight the reel in!?!?!

@hateplow420 You apparently haven't hooked into a +30 lbs carp. They are incredibly hard fighters given the correct rigging. If you do what this guy in the vid did then of course it wont be a challenge. You need to have 8-17 lbs test and 6-10 rod with any reel. This guy had a braid line which are almost always in excess of 25lbs test. Also, if you know how to cook carp right(especially with a meat grinder), carp can be exceptionally good tasting. One more thing, mud veins are a myth.

Dude me and my dad when we lived on the river ... what we would do is get a 2 liter coke bottle ... cut knife holes all in it .. fill it up with bread and put some vanilla oil ... about half a bottle ... and tie some 100 lb sea line around the bottle neck ... and tie it to our pear and drop it in the water lol ... we had a big ass flood light rigged to the pear so we could see em at the top of the water ... once they got close we would get em out with an old billiard stick !!!

I have been fishing for carp most of my life & live 5 minutes from the Illinois river which is probably the unofficial carp fishing capitol of the the world - it's estimated there are 8,000 large adult carp per mile of river here. While we do have other species of fish here, nothing compares to the size & fight of these carp - I have seen several people lose their fishing rods to them over the years & even watched an adult man get pulled in the river by one. They are great sport fish!
