@coverchenko - No way baby! Janet Jackson's CONTROL all the way for Album of the Year. I would have thrown Peter Gabriel the "Rock Song Of The Year (a songwriters award)", if he was nominated in Rock that year. But if he went "Pop" through all categories, I still would have chosen Steve Winwood over Peter Gabriel.

I LOVE Peter's song "Sledgehammer", but Winwood and Jackson's stuff is stronger.

IMHO, Peter Gabriel should have won Album of the Year. But, Graceland was the favorite to beat that year. Also, it is one of his best albums.

I'm surprised that Janet Jackson was nominated. What an honor for her, especially given the number heavyweights that are in this category.

@coverchenko actually it was a pretty strong year for the category, The Broadway Album IMO is (artistically) the best album Streisand has ever done, and Control is very strong too!

Got the tape of Graceland when I was 3 years old. I still listen to it. And, yes, So was great too.
