  • love goin to this lake in the spring for walleye, perch, and northern pike. All the good times are here.

  • I live on big bay and nice fish

  • the pike you held up in the start of vid, isnt a pike, notice the black line running threw the eye from top to bottom thats a chain pickeral.

  • @HowardOnTheFly ya there are to many pickeral in oneida lake.if u drift through the bays u can catch at least one every 5 casts.i caught over 50 in one day using a rapala black and white wile i was fishing the walleye tournament

  • What lures did you use?

  • yo is that the wun by the trailer camp syte

  • nice smalleys

  • @dadams65

Nope, from KY - Louisville actually. I do frequent western KY to fish more than not - KY Lake is my favorite, well, next to Oneida anyways! Oneida is amazing!

  • This is the Scott I know and love! Great memories!

  • hey man just letting you know that aint a northern pike its a pickeral, ive caught 100's of them at oneida

  • @jmoneyfic

Thanks for the correction! I've had several tell me that, and you are right! The "teardrop" below the eye tells it all. That was the first that I had ever caught and had no idea what a pike, pickerel, or musky even looked like. I caught my second pickerel on KY Lake not long after that!

  • lol. Maybe if you weren't putting the fish in your wells and sticking em like that you wouldn't have lost !

  • @ady12mike8

I was doing a "1 and run" on days 1 & 2 !!! I left plenty out there for the match...weather just changed it up too much and I had a tough time adjusting. Day 3 was payback day - and I got it!

  • i am 16 and i have tournament up on lake oneida next year, any tips? what did you catch them on?

  • @bassfisherdude14

They weren't difficult to catch at all. A fluke, a Gizz-4, and a Zara Spook were the three that worked best, with an occasional baby brush hog worked a little deeper.

  • I've only caught one fish in my 5 years of having a camp on Oneida lake haha. I must be fishing int he wrong spot. I wish the zebra mussels weren't making the lake so amazingly clear though, its bad for bass.

  • i know that lake like the back of my hand fished it a million times when I lived in Brewerton till 3 am at night

  • @BBmyQ

I stayed one night in the motel there at Brewerton - I think it was the Brewerton Motel!

  • im from new jersey and my friend has a house on the st. lawrence. I pass oneida on the way up everytime and ive always wanted to stop and fish it but have never got the chance.

  • thats a chain pickeral buddy

  • whats the song

  • Hey buddy - good job. You were good on UMF:CE!

  • Thanks! I had a great time!

I'd say you got a good audience with that episode of mine....probably not the kind you wanted, but any audience is better than none. I guess it wasn't enough since I haven't seen any more about UMFCE since then. I sure wish Mui wouldn't have gotten so darn mad...he was supposed to joke and prank back with me like we agreed....instead he got mad and I looked like a huge jerk. Oh well, life goes on...

Thanks again for an extraordinary trip!

  • you fish ny lakes alot.

  • I wish! The smallmouth up there are amazing! Oneida is awesome!!!

  • Wow, I wish i had the same results when i fished the JR bassmasters world qualifier there July 4th- 6th. I ended up with a 10.60 lbs limit. MY biggest fish was a 3.33 pound large mouth which ended up being the only largemouth I caught. I was killing 1-2 lbs smallmouths on the shoals with tubes and a drops shot shad. Thats all I really knew to do there. If any one out there knows anything else I can do when I go out there on another tournament this weekend, please dont hesitate and post. Thanks!

  • I used the Gizz-4 heavily on the shoals, working it like a jerkbait. The strikes I got on that thing were bone jarring! At the time, the Gizz-3 wasn't out, and I would bet that it might be a little more effective with it's smaller size. The thing looks so real!

My best fish came out of the river. I worked a topwater parallel to the docks. The splashing of the topwater bait "called" them out! It was awesome! There's nothing like smallmouth on topwater!

  • Smacktackle makes the Gizz-4. They have a website that you can order from, but some reason I can't post here on the comment board.

  • Hey,

I live in Baldwinsvile, Syacuse and i live right next to oneida lake. I just wanted to ask if you could tell me the baits you used? Very thank you.

    - Bass fishing Pro.

  • Oneida Shores Boat Launch, i fish all around there every night, if u ever get a chance to fish that lake again if ur in a boat go to big Bay on the north shore, near frenchmans island and in benards bay. if ur on shore and wanna catch pike, walleye, panfish, carp and ALOT mroe then fish right of the rocks going towards the eastern part of the lake. or fish in the little bay in the boat launch.

  • Do you know a Mike brown from Oneida NY?

  • No I don't. I'm from Louisville, KY and just visited Oneida for a couple of days. Definitely a nice lake!

  • Ok, Thank you!

  • Sorry man that wasn't a northern it was a chain pickerel. There are tons in the lake. I always get them while bass fishing.

  • Yep, you are right! I wasn't familiar with them until I recently caught another one on Ky Lake. The tear drop around the eye is a dead giveaway! Thanks for the heads up!

  • my dad been takin me and my bro fishin up oneida for about 12 years now for our summer vacation for the walleye.....i caught my biggest fish there, a 20 pound channel catty....it took me about 15 minutes to get him in with 6 pound test.......p.s. flo's diner is the best!

  • 34 lbs caty with a 4 pound test in 11 mins.. i totally got you beat

  • I love it when I see others getting fish.. However those Big Bass were mine :))) I wish..

  • hey i was just wondering what you were using cuz i try for smallmouth and never catch them .... i live in Canastota

  • real nice small mouths, I fish Oneida Lake all the time I live 10 mins away, if you want a guarantee'd northern pike fest you gotta go up fish creek to a little causeway type deal with a log jam, every time I go there i spot fish about 3 of them no lie!

  • that place is only good when they spawn and then when the water warms up hey head to the middle

  • even in late summer when it's in the 90's

  • Real cool video. Congratulations on the opportunity to participate in the event.

  • All I can say is WOW WOW WOW!!! Great job artcarneyagr!!! I love this video.
