  • Oliver is now my football coach 0.o

  • I WANT WATCH SAMURAI PIZZA CATS! OMFG!

  • I'm willing to bet that kid in the sailor hat has not adjusted well into adulthood. He probably has a little Bichon dog and a fat girl trapped in a basement well. And those puppets seem to be short about 17 chromosomes.

  • I haven't seen those nappy headed puppets for over 20 years but they reminded me of how much I didn't like this show.

  • I'll betcha Oliver is a crackhead after doing all them episodes.

  • this is such a pretty instrumental ending- very calming

  • "Oliver Sudden" is Miss Helen (Helen Lumby)'s son, John Lumby, Jr. This show was a family affair. Mother Helen (Miss Helen) Lumby, Father John Lumby, Sr directed, son Jeff Lumby played the adult male characters as well as one of the triplets,, daughter Lisa played the granny as well as other 2 triplets, and youngest child , John Lumby, Jr, of course is "Oliver Sudden".

  • @MariposaGirl1981

Interesting. Thanks for the lore. I loved this show as a kid.

  • @MariposaGirl1981 - That's the same Jeff Lumby who played Winston Rothschild III (owner of Rothschild's Sewage & Septic Sucking Services), on "The Red Green Show".

  • I could be wrong about this, but it seems to me that there was once a Size Small record that was available in some TV offer which featured songs from the show...does anyone else remember that or am I thinking of something else?

  • @saugagirl83 No, you are correct. I believe Retro Winnipeg has even posted some of the songs from the record :-)

  • @Retrontario Thanks, I'll check out RetroWinnipeg! :)

  • @saugagirl83 I own that record :D It's a pretty awesome record. :)

  • I love the Samurai Pizza Cats promo at the end

  • Lisa and Jeff worked on the English dub of Sailor Moon

  • How very coincidental that the Lumby family of Size Small fame also worked on Sailor Moon. I love both of those shows!

  • OMG please post skits from this show pleeassse!

  • I always wished she was my mom when I saw her. She's a nice lady she always was and she gave children something to smile about.

  • Daaamn she's fiiine

  • Thanks 4 the response ialarmu, If u see her again please thank her for me, watching her was a blessing to my childhood and so many others im sure. She seemed like a sweet & kind lady. I haven't seen "Size Small Island" in years and I can still hear her voice if I try hard enough singing the outro. I can only remember parts...."Oh theres no one on Island, ....but the shine? of the moon and the call of the loon, they will do just fine.

If you could post the outro, I would really appreciate it!

  • @DizmulDon86 I agree that was one of my favorite parts! pleeeease post!

  • Whatever happened to the host lady, Miss Helen Lumby? And Why cant I find the outro for "Size Small Island"? I never saw just "Size Small" or the other spin off "Size Smal Country" or whatever it was called. I'd really love to find that outro for Size Small Island. Does anyone else know what Im talking about? Or know where to look?

  • I did some work in her house today. she lives in Baden west of Kitchener ON. She's still the nice lady she always was, she sent home some of her videos with me for my kids :) Her husband has Parkinsons but is still quite well. It was fun to get to know her abit, she's got a lot of class.

  • I know exactly what your talking about and wish also someone would post this!!! please :)

  • My testicles just retracted back into my body. Soooo estrogen-fueled. Anyhoo I always wanted to punch Oliver out. But I loved this show. I grew up on it when I lived in Cold Lake AB :)

  • Lol that "Oliver" was my teacher . Nobody wants to punch him out there .

  • holy crap i watched this just stummbled on it, thanks for posting.

  • Yes!!!!!

I'd searched for Size Small videos months ago and nothing came up! Thanks for posting!

  • post more

  • Wow i used to watch this, thanks for the upload and trip down memory lane.

  • This is amazing!

Used to watch this as a kid - brings back memories!

  • Two notes:

CKND (and other CanWest stations?) never cut the record plug (as YTV did) from the credits.

To answer brithgob, considering that in Saskatchewan there were only CBC and CTV stations at the time, it seems that independent CKND in the next province was probably the only interested party. I believe the show was originally taped in Winnipeg (see Making Manitoba Home).

  • I was wondering what that edit was.

  • Awesome! I LOVED this music (about as much as I hated everything else about the show.)

Interesting that this was being made in Saskatoon in cooperation with Canwest, five years before they had stations in Saskatchewan. It was ready-made local programming when STV launched.
