  • NO HORN LIGHTS OR NOTHING ...

  • @gillmore718 U CANT DELETE A POST I DID NOT HEAR THE HORN LOL

  • @gillmore718

I was wondering there man. Starting about the 1:30 mark I sure am hearing something fairly loud. You may want to look at that mute button. :D

  • I did not see you standing, I was on google maps and went on street view on Old Stage Road in Auburn AL and saw a blue house there. That is why I asked you that question.

  • Ahh I see now. No I don't live on Stage Rd. though it and Dean Rd. crossings arfe the closest crossings to my house; well within ear shot of the back deck.

  • Do you live in the blue house where you were standing?

  • Well.........., I do live in a blue house but I'm not following what you mean when you ask "where you were standing". Where do you see me standing??

  • what a hill in the first clip

  • It's sad because 4617 is no longer in C&O colors anymore, it has been repainted into YN3.

  • Yah I noticed that on RP>net. Ironicly enough 4617 just came through Auburn heading north on the A&WP about 20 minutes ago (7:50 PM CST, Oct 10, 2008). Those in the Atlanta area abd beyond may want to keep an eye out.

  • why does the guy on the radio sound loke a computer xD, and btw, the gates close very very very late, in germany they are down around 4-5 min until the train passes

  • The "guy" on the radio is a recording. It's a defect detector that relays any issues seen with dragging equipment, hot axel barings, train speed, length and axel count.

As for the gates, I don't know the standard in the us but it's generally 30 seconds before the train crosses when the gates are activated.

4-5 minutes sounds EXTREMELY long to me but you would know better than I seeing that you live there.

  • well it depends on the train, where i live, the gate closes when train enters a new block. in my town are 4 blocks. station-ostraße,osttraße-ost,ost-spiegelberge,spiegelberge-feld.when a train enters block nr.2 the gates in block 3 close, and when it enters block 3, the gates in block 4 close, and every block is around 2miles long, so a slow freight train can take 10-20 min to cross a block

  • what kinda camera u use? btw 5 stars and favorite

  • I use a JVC GRD770U Mini DV camcorder.

    Thanks.

  • Man I am surprised by how many people were running (and driving) right in front of the train! I know the arm hasn't come down until at the last minute, but still, have people forgotten the "Look both ways" rule?

  • Unfortulatly, In this town it is quite customary to never look.

  • yeah hoolg is right but is that the railroad crossing next to indian pines

  • Nope, this is the one next to the Bowling Alley @ Dean Road.

  • I managed to catch her LEADING, I'll have to rustle up the video for sure!

  • The horn in the distance at 2:45 is music to my ears!

  • I was hopping for chessie!

  • Sorry to dissabboint but I'll take this one. It's a rarity none the less.

If you want some Chessy, look at some of my older videos. I have some form the late 80's to early 90's when the merger was just taking shape.

  • I know! but seeing one today would be cool! Railroads have gotten real boring (I can't beleve I just said that) over the years! Steam and old units like this one are the only things keeping me into it! Don't get me wrong, I love to see trains go buy like the modern units but it's more fun to see the old ones go buy!

  • I totally agree and completly understand where you're coming from. Since deregulation in the early 80's, we've gone from 60 major railroads to 4. Four railroads roaming around the country doesn't make for all that muck variation but we have to take what we get I guess.

  • Yeah! but they should get more short lines to become major railroads! Like the Ohio Central! They have good schems and a steam program. Heritige units would be cool too! Like B&O C&O Chessie WM Pennsy N&W (Wich NS has a few N&W F units) That would make trains more interesting! But the railroads don't care about railfans I gess!

  • Wonder what the dude had in the bag that was so important? Cheesebuger and fries? LOL I like how your zoom catches the train going upgrade on the track, that's cool. Great video! Keep up the awesome work!

  • Excellent catch, I didn't even know a C&O loco still existed. There are only a couple of Chessie's and the Conrail units are going fast.

  • Tell me about it. I'm glad I saw her before fate caught up with her.

  • Oh my,

What a find! The fact that a C&O of anything is still in tact is amazing considering how power hungry and power shedding that railroads sometimes can be. If this C&O locomotive were to be in the lead..Oh boy, 1970s in 2008!

  • Yah, that would have been even better.

  • Im suprised that they still havent repainted all the old c&o locos... Thats real neat to see...

  • Yah, as far as I know this is the last one. I hope they purposely left it in its old sceme.

  • Holy talk about rare sight!

  • Tell me about it. I was quite suprised here.

  • Again, nice catch on the C&O unit. I guess I'm lucky, there are a lot of fallen flag locos, patched or unpatched, on BNSF and UP.

  • Yah, UP & BNSF seem to have more of a soft spot for history than CSX & NS.

  • That is very true, if only CSX would adopt some heritage schemes like BNSF or UP does.

  • Man tell me about it. Wouldn't it be awesome to see An SD70 in Chessy, Seaboard, B&O, C&O ect... paint. I know it's wishful thinking but it would be really nice to seei it.

  • Great catch on the C&O unit. I've noticed a few things wrong in this video, the hood door is open, that guy walks across TWICE not at a grade crossing, and there was a car stopped on the tracks.

  • As for the hood door, I don't know the rules on this but it was a comfortable afternoon. Maybe they just wanted some fresh air.

As for the man & car, it happens all the time around here.

  • Great catch! Im surprised that C&O paint is still hanging in there!

  • I'm glad to see they havn't painted ofer it. Maybe someone in CSX does have a soft spot for history.

  • Great shot you got there. It amazes me the speed those trains roll at though Auburn.

  • Glad you liked it!

Tell me about it. I think I remember hearing about 5 or 10 years ago they raised the speed from 35 to 45. CSX's reason was that you wouldn't have to wait as long for a train. Supprisingly I don't remember all that many train/ car wrecks around this area and that's a big shock given how many close calls I've seen.

  • Awsome video!! I thought you were NOT SUPPOSED to STOP in the middle of the tracks!! Also, what is with that guy that went across the tracks two times?

  • This happens every day around here. I'm amazed how many people will stop on the crossing. I've even had people so impaitent that they've blown their horn at me when I wait until I have enough room to let my truck clear the crossing.

  • there must be a red light by the crossings cuz when i see the light of a train im haulin ass out of that crossings! Great Video!

  • Yup. The light is about 40 yards to the left of the crossing, just out of sight from the camera.
