He holds the sticks differently because he's not a real drummer. If he then everything is basically wrong. Most egregiously how he hits the drum. He moves pretty much his whole arm because his wrists are almost locked up; a real drummer moves primarily his wrists. He's only so good because the rock band drum set only necessitates a small range of movement. On a real set his style would ultimately be noneffective.
