But I must admit Gary Gygax spawned (and took the concept to a new level) his idea from JRR Tolkien's Hobbit. So if there was no Tolkien, what would we all do?

@MarinePaladin100 not to be a hardcore nitpicker, but there were several other authors that D&D was inspired by as well. And there's always ancient mythology, which D&D seems to have stolen from liberally anyway. D&D was built on the bones of Chainmail i think, their simulationist wargame. They were already playing with knights and stuff, they just expanded their game to fantasy and one day decided to play heroes instead of generals in command of armies. There were fantasy novels before Tolkien

i tried this game when it went for free and was massively onlinely disapointed. like all otehr free games the only things it deliver it some sort of graphics and hacking mindlesly with no real fun (well i was a wizrd so amybe it more fun as a warrior i dont know)

i hoped it would be liek baldurs gate or maybe a betetr version online of Neverwinter Nights but it wasnt, with all the stupid jumping around to evade attacks and such. i read on some forums that it was better before they changed it

Video games are too limiting, they only encourage repitition and to a minimal degree creativity and strategy. And don't get me started on the Psy Op pay as you play system, you think they do that as a favor to the player HA They do that because it generates more money for them by hooking people for free and holding the stick and carrot.

Should have done a completely free massive turn based game like the original D&D games from SSI.

Little note. There are two money races and two money classes. The thing is that you can unlock one of the races, the Drow [a Night Elf in WoW I guess] and the Favored Soul [class that can fight and heal with good plus sides to both]. There are points known as Favor which you gain from running dungeons over and over. Once you hit a certain ammount, you unlock stuff. First 50 points you get on a server, 100 cashpoints then 25 every other 50. 400 for drow and 2500 for FvS.

I tried it for about 2 weeks, and enjoyed it really much. The dungeons were awesome and there's tons of quests. But since some content is pay to play you got a lot of restrictions on your character. Don't expect to play free forever.

I play its only similar to WOW in the standard ways MMO's are, leveling up, gains new skills ect. You can play for free or pay monthly or purchase extras extra bank space ect. D&D Graphics are not as cartoon y as WOW. Unlike WOW you can select solo mode for questing. Finding help for a quest is easier the n wow. Story lines are great and quest info lets you know if its a short quest or a long quest. My personal fave of game is the in game neration as I have problems reading the screen sometimes.
