@Geekvolution Okay, this pisses me off. Why do you need everything spoon fed to you? So what if something wasn't mentioned on "later" shows? How often does the French revolution come up in daily conversation. Most Americans are ignorant and stupid and probably don't even know about the French revolution. How about something more recent? How often do you hear Kent State mentioned in conversational context? If you don't hear about a historical event, why does that mean it couldn't have happened?
@Geekvolution How do we know these things are not discussed off-camera? We see these characters for 40-44 minutes 26 weeks of the year. This is why people hate Caprica "We never saw the computer sheets on BSG, so it makes no sense." Well, yes it does. Why would those come up in conversation? Why is it so hard to accept that something exists if it's not right in front of your face? Every aspect of everything cannot be on camera all the time. Why is this so hard?
alrighty, heres one (and forgive me if its been asked already) Do you think in another 10-20 however many years, will a reboot of this nature work for TNG?
my two cents on this film: Urban may as well have been channelling DeForest's spirit. It was that good.
I like it as a setup for a new continuity and like you said, its in its own timeline now.
actually it's not a problem that things before Nero changed as well.
because as a result of the change in Kirk's timeline.. all of kirk's future time travels into the past will change as well. (and therefore might cause more alterations in the past)
the new kirk will have to go back to the past again to save the whales and so on. (the old kirk would not exist anymore)
and so this could change the past.
kind of like a temporal chain reaction that goes back centuries before nero's arrival
I think Hollywood *thinks* it's changing things to appeal to a wider audience; I think Hollywood is mistaken in that belief. There's so many people who think it's their job to mess with stuff, that they mess with stuff merely for the sake of it, and then make a lot of excuses about 'wider audience', or 'updating', or some other smack like that. Canon violations from simple error bother me less than this.
nice review and even though im not a huge fan i do understand why you be afraid since hoolywood has a history of changing stuff to appeal to a wider audience just so they can make more money

Yea, I don't want Khn in the sequel either. No one can top Ricardo Montalban. He's a legend of his own right.
