  • 1974 - Ugh! 13% inflation, gas lines, shortages, serial killers, yuk!

  • wonderous

  • I wonder how many get what this song is about?

  • God I love this song

  • No one can rival this man's vocals. I have been listening to Queen since I was 8 years old. Funny that all my friends listened to Donny Osmond and I was listening to Queen, Mott the Hoople and the New York Dolls! Thank God for older brothers!

  • I just did this at my school's talent show

  • "Lily of the Valley" is one of May's favourite songs by Mercury. Mercury played piano and did all of the vocals. The song has a reference to Seven Seas of Rhye in the line "messenger from Seven Seas has flown to tell the King of Rhye he's lost his throne".

  • Beautiful song. I like to think if were still alive that Queen would still be recording n touring. Even near the end of Freddies life you could sense that he/they still had so many songs in them n sadly we'll never know wot couldve been

  • beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 0:01 - 0:03 LOVE this bit!

  • one of the best songs in the world.

  • He's my inspiration, can't believe he's not here anymore, really, I fucking hate I was born in '92, Freddie, hope to see you up there someday, until then... :D I just wait patiently with open eyes

  • i can sing this the whole day and listen at it my whole life!

Like people said: Noone can beat Queen!

  • Why did you die so young? :(

  • freddie mercury a god of music sent to us,but very sadly taken from us too early.god bless you my hero we still miss you immensly.dave v leeds

  • Right Freddie mercury was a 100% Musical genius.

He died to soon, but leave a musical tresure to the world.

Queen will survive the world and time.

  • So pure, beautiful but unfourt. underated.

  • Freddy died the year i was born. Thank god my grandad was a massive fan otherwhise i would have never listened to some of these really old classics from Queen. for a 20 year old i must have some taste in music lol.

  • I believe this again was about his sexuality

  • @imputanium

Brian May says the same thing.

  • @maxmercury wtf??

Really?? Where can I find that?

I only thought this was about his fantasy world

Now that I listen closely this could really show his doubts specially the lines "I lie and wait with open eyes, I carry on throught stormy skies" but I never had any idea it could be a reference to his inner fight...

  • @PicKPiT

Among other places, its a quote mentioned in a long article in Classic Rock magazine from a few years back called "Freddie Mercury 1946 - 1991: Real Life - Or Just Fantasy?" by Jon Hotten, which quotes Brian May as saying that "Lily of the Valley" was about Freddie looking at his girlfriend, Mary Austin, "and realising his body needed to be somewhere else." Google it. I'd link to it but youtube won't let me.

  • awesome..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • those guitar harmonies are so amazing. :)

  • @derangedband Well said mate. Well said.

  • You guys should hear the Dream Theater verison :) its also pretty good :0

  • So true their new album is awesome and the Queen medley is also pretty cool

  • omg..my fav band of all time..no one in rock ever had such an amazing, beautiful voice..this song & nevermore from queen 2...ethereal & otherwordly..transports you to another realm

  • Proud of England!

  • "I follow every course

    My kingdom for a horse"

The back vocals... My god... Hoe do they do that... only 3 people... Without roger who cant go that low.. just amazing... Not one of my favourite songs... But you've got to love this song... incredible

  • please, any body can tell me what is the rhye?in this song is the second time, remember the seven seas of rhye, tank you

  • I have heard that Rhye is a kingdom, a land imagined by Freddie, in his youth.

And maybe the song 'My Fairy King' is also about it?

  • @resero308 Hi! Interesting question. As far as I'm aware, Ryhe is a fantasy world that Freddie created which he would occasionally allude to during other songs! Hope that helps! :)

  • I have to agree, music in decline. Not even Radiohead can touch the creativity of Queen circa 1974.

  • La cantidad de canciones que nos perdimos de escuchar si ese maldito SIDA no lo hubiese matado...

  • lol my namesss lily : )

  • @HadToBeThere939 me too! hearing freddie mercury sing my name makes my heart smile :-)

  • Music is in decline.... This isn't even a particularly high-ranking Queen song, and it still surpasses, at least in my opinion, 90% of today's popular music.

  • You do know that Queen is British right?"

  • happy birthday darling.

  • No one can beat queen. no one, nothing, NEVER

  • hearing freddie mercury say my name always makes me smile :-)

  • xD on m'appelle Lily Of The Valley,c'est mon surnom ^^ :p

  • Thank you. I used to listen to this song with the Love Of My Life. God Bless you.

  • Oi, 1974queer,

    Thanks for the compliments.

We'll let the viewers decide who the cocksucker is..... You're the one who writes comments on vids and then remove them cos you aint got the arse to keep them on show! wassup Chickenshit??. Yawn Yawn.

I wonder how many get it?

He battled with that pain all his life. Yet he shouldn't have.

    God bless Freddie!

  • wonderfull peace of music

  • the guitar in the end is like a viola.. i love it

  • i wonder how he got such a low register on the guitar.... amazing

  • "Messenger from Seven Seas has gone to tell the King of Rhye he's lost his throne..." Seven Seas Of Rhye! =P I love this song... is sooo beautiful... ^^

  • Messenger from seven seas has flown, not gone.

  • Ok, sorry xD I'm from Spain, so I make mistakes. But the most important thing here is the song, not if I make a mistake.

    God save the Queen!!!

  • awesome & totally gives you his thoughts in a way that no words can describe! all of queens music creates such a beautiful feeling in your soul

  • luvved this when it came out & still do.

  • This is Megga.

  • yes, so strange, so mysteriously beautiful

  • strange and beautiful song.

  • The guitar part starting at around 1.20 is so very Brian May-ish!

  • k harmonia, freddie lo mejor para las depresiones

  • fuckin' nice

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever!! Freddie was a truly genius. Sends me shivers every time I hear his songs!

  • @luhvanny Totally agree

  • good

  • there is only one way to describe Freddie : MADE IN HEAVEN

  • dude, remember that they didnt use synthesizers!

  • not until 1980, lol

  • what's a synthesizer?

  • CAN'T GET ENOUGH!!!!!Freddie is an artist to the highest extent!!!

  • like angels in heaven... my kingdom for this song...

  • What kind of being can create and perform such an otherworldly beauty?. Just an angel. Just Freddie. His voice is nearly therapeutical in our noisy and brutal world. Beautiful beyond comparison, The Lily doesn't know from which Heaven descended Freddie. The best ever!.
