  • first game i ever played of castlevania, it made me broke my gameboy but in the end i still beated it :P

  • I first tried a Castlevania game: I was looking at an issue of Nintendo Power (2001) dedicated to the GBA, and saw only a map layout. I thought to myself, this looks similar to Super Metroid. Will I like this just as much? Now owns a copy of Circle of the Moon and Castlevania Double Pack with Aria of Sorrow and Harmony of Dissonance.Sad thing is, I was late to the party by four years as I first tried "Metroidvania" in 2005. Now I need to go to where it all started, Symphony of the Night.

  • thumbs up if pyropuncher brought u here

  • One of the dislikes dissappeared :o

  • 0:12 - 0:19 reminds me A Lot of StarCraft I terran music.

  • @julesTEO oh shit you're right!

  • love this so much, still has the Castlevania style!!!!!!!

  • This is so underrated. I loved this game. XD

  • Listening to this song definitely wakes you up.

  • not to mention it was the first castlevania game to be a launch title

  • Dracula disliked this video.

  • Is it just me or could you imagine Iron Maiden doing something like this? Especially with the prominent bassline

  • awesome song ........i had the game 4 about 10 years and still have not passed it

    its that cool

  • I love this game, I love the music!

  • This will alawys be Nathan's theme for me, and it's really awesome !

  • the best Castlevania song ever!!! HELL YEA!!!.... makes me wanna whip things!

  • classic tune off of a classic game... hands down the best castlevania created... the sound, difficulty & graphics are top knotch.

  • definitely one of the best Castlevania games and VERY underrated!

  • @sneakykamon Yes it is. But this one is actually the top-seller in the series. It even outsold "Symphony of the Night" for the PSX.

  • In future Castlevania concerts: there HAS to be a live orchestrated version of this song.

Castlevania fans will weep for joy!

  • The one dislike is Dracula, and he is dead, so there are none.

  • @Bogskinke But, he just revived.

  • @DaFox765 eclipse :]

  • @Bogskinke it comes and goes every couple of years, give or take.

  • WIN!

  • I love the *whiplash* at 1:10

  • awake to a world of darkness

awake to the pain and sorrow

    awake.....to your destiny

  • *Crying*

  • 2001-2011 my god ive had it that long??? FUCK

  • I beat this game 10 times, I've never beat any game so much, B.C it's the best!

  • 0:12-0:18 reminded me a bit of black metal, but the drums here are fun for some reason.

  • I love CotM so much.

  • Konami have a habit of bringing old Castlevania tunes back in to their games. So for Castlevania Judgement, why didn't they stick Nathan Graves in with this track as his theme!?

  • @AnnatarYoung Because Iga made this game non-canon because it ruined continuity....which was bullshit...

  • @spitboi7 iga did not make this game, it was KCEK not KCET the same guys responsable for castlevania 64 konami kobe

  • @erwillrockn I know....hence why I said it was bullshit...because he retcons games that he doesn't have a part in BECAUSE he thinks he is entitled to making a legendary series from 1986 his own since he came on board in 1998.

  • 138 people know good vgm's. Thats right. You can even do it with the thumbs up button. Other than that, this track kicks ass. love it.

  • It was just me or Castlevania CotM was one of the hardest metroidvania ever?

Even normal enemies would rape you (yeah im looking at you Devil).

  • hell yeah 0 dislikes

  • @noir0222 Good, so no one can make one of those "X people missed the like button" comments.

  • Ooohh... so nostalgic...

  • This was the game that got me into Castlevania. One of my favorite and first gba games ever.

  • This song aslways gets me in the mood to play circle of the moon!

  • This game got me into Castlevania when I was a little kid. I still love this game more than any on the GBA.

  • @Powelloseven Same here.

  • @Powelloseven

    same :D

    as a 5th birthday present <3

  • the music for this game was so much better than aria of sorrow

  • love the beginning

  • phone ringing in background,at 0.24

  • @jusdepalourde no man, it is in song, really :)

  • @jusdepalourde It's part of the song mate :)

  • Richter will always be the strongest Vampire hunter.

  • @cubeface21 ...no because julius was actually the one to destroy dracula completely. richter never achieved that. additionally, your comment has bugger all to do with anything other than relating to the castlevania franchise.. nobody heres discussing whos the strongest other than you. and now me.

  • The first game the composer of this game has composed for is this game.

  • @Timentio6 i had to read your comment like 3 times, you used like 5 different words to make a 15 word sentence lol. but for a first, he did pretty dang awesome. the whole track is so.. unique.

  • @serarblem123 What?

  • Great game!

    Hail Nathan!

  • When i was at Target, i heard this music as a ringtone from someone, thanks to him, im here listening to this music and about to play this game again...thanks a lot random person >.>

  • @RyvernRaigon dude thats the coolest idea for a ringtone ive heard in a long time

  • @Gorlokk666 I agree lol

  • Nathan is the strongest vampire hunter...he got the power of the ancient gods (jupiter, saturn etc)

  • Very impressive game for its time, but definitely the toughest of the RPG-Castlevanias. Every boss was a pain in the ass.

  • @SamusDrake

Let's not forget that you were ENTIRELY dependent on enemy drops for EVERYTHING.

  • @zigilist

Oh, don't remind me! Its been a while, but I remember picking up money bags and they didn't even have a sodding shop! o_O

  • @SamusDrake

Really? I don't remember getting money...

Do you even get a score in this game? Because that's all I can imagine it being used for...

  • @zigilist

Its been years since I played but I swear there was money involved somehere...oh, yeah, it was handing over money for the game!

Money well spent mind you... ^_^

  • @SamusDrake

    *BADUM-TSSH*

Indeed. Very good launch title. I still have the actual game in my basement. Never managed to beat Dracula, though.

  • @zigilist

It was certainly a change in difficulty from SOTN and I think Dracula and the Twin Dragons were the toughest of the bosses. LOL, even the first boss Cerebus was a tough nut to crack!

  • yea castlevania is the game i can play and keep replaying till i die u know wat i mean the greast rpg of all time

  • This game is so good. And this song is brilliant, its always in my mind.

  • My mind just exploded...this is beyond nostalgic. I gotta go play this right now.

  • nostalgia

  • CotM has the best soundtrack among all handheld Castlevania games

  • This game is severely underrated JUST BECAUSE IGASHARI DIDN'T WORK ON IT!! WTF?!

  • @GizmoFan1

What annoys me more is that he dismisses CV:Legends on the GB as an "embarrassment". This and Legends are two of my favourites in the franchise.

  • Konami needs to do more games with Nathan and his abilities to change the wipe with cards

  • @0li002 they should huh. that would be cool

  • i passed this game four times that's how bad ass it is i highly recommend it by the way it was my first castlevania game to play and ever since well like any castlevania lover you people know what's up

  • i never could get past being poisoned in the very beginning. what's the way to do it?

  • @toptenmaterial just let the game do the talking

  • @toptenmaterial There is no trick, you just gotta be careful. They drop a shit load of Antidotes for you though.

  • I MUST use this theme when playing the xbla verson of sotn, I MUST!

  • First game I Truly maxed out, 100%, freaking brilliant game, they don't make games like they used to...

  • I thought aria was better, but bouth are brilliant games.

  • @SheikMaster123

Orly? My first maxing out was in Aria of Sorrow. Piece 'o cake if you focus on collecting souls only after you first clear it and then you face HARD MODE.

  • still didn't finish the game yet...well, i already beat the boss but i meant the percentage. I'm on 98.8% XD!!!!! AHH cant find anymore!!

  • @WaynE412 It's impossible dude, i'm at 98%-ish too

  • Especially since the bosses don't drop the thing that refills your health to full when you defeat them. XD

  • First gba game ^_^

  • Hi 5! :D

    I love this game, sadly mine doesn´t saves anymore ;A;

  • Same.. with the first old shitty version of the GBA console :D

  • @MazeMan95 this was my second...my first was Super Mario World Advance 2...this is way better ^^

  • @MazeMan95 i second that :D

  • @MazeMan95 Mine too! :D

  • @MazeMan95 Mine as well :)

  • It's still one of the best too, and not just out of GBA games.

  • "Vampire Killer"

    "Beginning"

    "Simon's Theme"

    "Pitch Black Intrusion"

    "Invitation of a Crazed Moon"

    this...

Castlevania has a long history of great "first level" music that really hooks you and gets you in the mood to bust some undead skulls. God love Konami, man.

  • yep they really bring out the goods from the getgo

  • You forgot Reincarnated Soul...;-;

  • Couldn't say it better. Whoever you are, I ♥ you

  • @kaiser5150 You forgot AoS's Castle Entrance and SotN's Dracula's Castle

  • @kaiser5150 So damn true.

  • @kaiser5150 and reincarnated soul

  • @kaiser5150 you forgot Castle Corridor! And Dracula's Castle!

    just saying

  • @kaiser5150 Don't forget Reincarnated Soul from Castlevania Bloodlines

  • @kaiser5150 Don't forget "Dracula's Castle" from SOTN. That one was really good...

  • @WiiFreedom Bloody Tears kicks ass aswell, it's a shame that Simon's Quest was a half assed product.

  • @kaiser5150 Reincarnated Soul, Bloodlines, Dracula's Castle, Ruined Castle Corridor and Succesor of Fate as well. Can't forget them.

  • @kaiser5150 You forgot Aria of Sorrow's "Castle Corridor"!

  • @kaiser5150 not to forget "succesor of fate" which was also really awsome ^^

  • @kaiser5150 You mentioned Pitch Black Intrusion yet you didn't mention Castle Corridor (Aria of Blood)?! D:<

  • @kaiser5150 don forget the castle corridor music from aos

    that was AWESOME

  • @kaiser5150

Add "Reincarnated Soul" from Bloodlines to this list. ~_~

  • This brings me back!

  • 0:12 this part is killer

  • I remember this! dracula throw you down then appears "catatombs" and this music begins ^^

  • I think this is the ONLY Castlevania without a merchant in it, although I could be wrong. =P

  • What about Castlevania, Castlevania II, Castlevania III, Super Castlevania IV, Castlevania Bloodlines, Castlevania Adventure and Castlevania: Rondo of Blood?!

Wait, am I missing any? I think Curse of Darkness might not have had a merchant, but I don't recall.

I can't say if Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance has one or not, as I've never played that.

  • Harmony of Dissonance does have one who moves a lot.

  • harmony of dissonace is one of the greatest ones man!!!

  • there are merchants and shops in castlevania 2 simon's quest

  • Oh, right. Thank you.

  • @johndill90

Aside from the pre-SOTN titles, I think so. Everything is based off of enemy drops, which can make things really annoying.

  • i remeber had a whole pack of games and i liked this one better than all of themXD

  • What a great launch title for the GBA!

  • I remember when I got this game (Circle of the moon) for my 8th Birthday and I have loved castlevania ever since then.

  • my head hurts from the nostalgia

  • this game's music is awesome, personally i liked this game a lot, although is was my first castlevania game i played

  • Even though I hate this Castlevania game I really liked the music. I have completed it but I didn't like using those card things. I couldn't figure out how to use them until halfway through the game.

  • Hahaha me too but i like this game because is very hard and is like combine Castlevania 1 with Symphony of the Night

  • What is castlevania 1 like and how is similar to Symphony of the night?

  • The castlevania from the NES

The familiars, the RPG/action style you know

  • Uh, he said SotN combined with Castlevania...

  • No, i say "combine castlevania 1 with sotn"

im taking about the first game of the series =/

  • I could picture someone doing a really awesome bass cover of this song.

  • I would do one, but I haven't got a camera yet, Sub to me and in the next few weeks I'll upload for + Says it was more for you ?

  • This was my first ever Castlevania. While it is not my favourite, I thought it was a lot better than Harmony of Dissonance, and I find it nearly tied with Aria of Sorrow. I kind of preferred Aria of Sorrow, but the music of this game is just unreal!

  • permision for anyone to kick my balls if I don't have this music in my ipod

  • My balls have been unkickable for about a year then *phew*

Just... A genius beginning song to a GENIUS game. I think I prefer it to Symphony of Night... Scratch that... i DO!

  • i fukin love this game. hands down best gba game ive ever played. music is epic, and i completed the game at age 10

  • My first castlevania was Dracula X, but that was on my emulator.....

  • This game is so hard! Geez, the devils, the spirits, THOSE FREAKING POISON WORMS.

  • Its not that hard, I completed it at 100% when I was a kid.

But its a great game ;)

  • hey, can anyone tell me what castlevania game I saw my friend playing? it looked like it was on a game boy, and somebody was on a staircase, using a whip diagonally upward.

  • My Favorite song of all time. EVER. REALLY

  • didnt really like this castlevania compared to the other one on GBA...

    but that song is amazing!!

  • wow, so epic. love this game, love this sound! Dracula, i'm coming to kick your ass! yeaaah

  • I'm sorry guys but i didn't really like SOTN. It was a little boring. The beginning was better, but halfway through it got easy, and well, I almost walked away. It got too repetitive. I still loved Castlevania, though, don;'t get me wrong.

Anyway, i love this song, and COTM was good, too

  • Circle of the Moon and Symphony of the Night? First Castlevania? You kids are young...

  • Haha well Circle of the Moon was my first as i had a Nintendo 64 and a Mega Drive before that back in the day.

So yeah not always because we are young!

  • i was born in 94, but i played the first one (arcade version at a skate rink) Nowadays I have most of the nes and snes ones on Virtual console.

  • yea bruh..im only 15

  • jeeze i feel way older than i should... im 19, i grew up playing the original Castlevania on the NES and went with the flow since then. not to impressed with the new ones though, just kinda fell out of it after LOD.

  • mine first castlevania was Symphony of The Night...i was hella little..i can remember entering draculas castle and bieng alucard..and his theme song playing..holy crap i felt so powerful! his heroic theme song and i was alucard...aaahh the good old days

  • Untill death stole all your weapons and armor yeh lol

  • you guys know about good games :D !!!

  • My first Castlevania too !

  • my first castlevanian game too!! :D i buy it when i was 7 years old, solid game, thanks to this castlevania i began to interest more in the series.

  • My first too. Although I was 14, not 7.

  • how good were you at the game at age 7?

  • circle of the moon was my first castlevania...eventually i fall in love with it.....dawn....its music it's freaking good....awesome....i love it... it's a great game....

  • lol i was in the gym at my school and found this game lying around i was like hey! look a castlevania! and at the time i only played two, lament of innocence and aria of sorrow. so yea i got it, played throguh most of it and fell in love with the series of games. sadly mine would erase my file if i got to far into the game...well i sold it to my friend for 15 dollars and he handed it to another friend to give back to me for free...other guy sold it so i was pissed.

  • This was SUCH an excellent game... was also my first Castlevania game. Loved it to death!

  • Fucking awesome game for the gameboy... and castle vania with Soma cruz... but this one was better... far better... the music and everything was great

  • This game was deep!! Loved it, and the soundtrack was hauntingly beautiful.

  • this game is so underrated that i feel bad for it...its such a good game

  • it's considered one of the top GBA games. Why would you say it's underrated?

  • compared to other CV games it is underrated (SotN...)

  • u cant really compare games to sotn. that game was awesome

  • ive been humming this song and couldnt remember where i heard it cuz i lost my circle of the moon long time ago =[

  • these soundtracks are so our type

i just luve listening to them of the effects, sound and pitch

  • this game is great!!!

    and nathan rules too

  • weird....I actually feel lively after hearing this

  • why is it that video games and animes tend to have really cool themes haha

  • Probably because ya gotta hear them for hours on end...

  • I knew this game was gonna be awesome the second I heard this theme.

  • Same here , as soon as this theme began i gripped harder my gba and got ready for some real , serious gaming.

  • I have this game...It's good.

  • I Love this theme!!!!

    Castlevania <33333333
