  • "Don't take that old road; it leads to nowhere." Easy to say and much harder to do. That explains why it more come to talk bravely than it is to act bravely. Those few instances of bravery, however, make all the difference.

  • 0nly the best

  • It's a f@cking good song. I liked to dance with a girl close together during this song. No more, no less. Capri?

  • What is the matter zitlight73 did Dr. Phil say something you did not want to hear?

    afterlife13

  • Hey ELGROOVER...I mighta knowed it was you that posted it...Every time I want Steppenwolf I know who to call.

  • Does it get any better than this? I think not. It really is that simple folks. Dig. Period. End of discussion. K?

  • We must return before the clock strikes twelve. The truth of this song contributed to knowing how feudal this social system is and it will never change, just get worse. So I found Jesus and I found piece of mind. Thanks John Kay. I'm 58 now.

  • I think both Humble Pie and Steppnwolf did an awesome job on this song. Pie didn't kill the song but did it very well. Steppinwolf didn't have another band out do them. I seriously like both versions. They both punch you in the heart as this is one song you play over and over again.

  • I looked for this song,as I am a huge Humble Pie fan . They covered in their first album, in a wonderful way.

  • The intro destroys me.. Every time. It's the sweetest fucking intro.

  • I hated this band, but always liked this track, it's very good

  • I dedicate this song to my first lover, John Mayers, from Yorktown High School days, brother of Dee Mayers. Dear John..I loved you truly, really I did, but you know we both came to a better place in life.

  • ♪♫♥²↑⁀⁀☼

This upload is dedicated to all you darlings out there, yet my mind is on one particularly special darling. You know who you are ☼ ;-j ox

  • victor griffin and place of skulls do an outstanding version of this.

  • To ferox965 ~ Good call & thanks. Indeed, it's mighty fine ☼ ;-j

  • I HAVE THIS ALBUM--LP MINT CONDITION

  • @YcGrAn Still got two copies of the First and Live never opened! As well as Second, 7 and RIP also never opened! Most incredible band from the 60's! Wore out multiple copies of all of them lucky to have these spares!

  • i love their bass player.

  • It has to be a Gibson Les Paul.

  • @SgtPepper96034

    Rickenbacker...

  • @wrwest

I think I meant the guitar solo on The Ostrich but I could be wrong about that too.

    Sounds great no matter what.

    Thanks:)

  • @wrwest

I still was not right. I meant the guitar solo at the end of Hippo Stomp. Man I cannot keep these animal songs straight but I love them all!

    Peace.

  • Steppenwolf #1 !!!!!

  • So beautiful.

  • Love this song! I play it over and over again when life ain't going my way and it just helps. Love it. One of the best Steppenwolf songs in my opinion.

  • Fing great song..I have this on 8 track found in a dumpster

  • Frieden für alle Menschen, aber ihr könnt aufwachen schnell, weil jeder weniger als die Art des Denkens wird in Kürze unsere Vernichtung als eine Welt denken!

  • Nobody quite does this song like Steppenwolf ..... beautiful!

  • @Patriot1862 Wait, so is this a cover song?

  • @fathmear3 No, it was written by John Kay, the lead singer of Steppenwolf, Humble Pie did do a very good cover of the Steppenwolf song, not the other way around.

  • I remember listening to this song over & over, while living in a home for girls, was a lOsT soul & NEVER felt loved, so ran away many times. My parents divorced & couldn't live there & so I became award of the court. So many years ago, have NOT listened to this song as the memories was more then I could handle! I have to lol cuz I remember all the words still to this day, LOVIN it now too... Brightest blessings & right on & peace man, wink, giggles... L8er all, smiles, Funluvn...

  • and she was nly 5years old whwn she`s died...whatta fuck????

  • damn I have always loved this song!

  • Very good song, cheers.

  • I like this, but my humble opinion is that Humble Pie's version is WAY better: Marriot's voice and those guitars sound SOLID. No offense meant though you Steppenwolf diggers...

  • my dad has sung this song to me since i was a baby and played it on the acoustic and i've never heard the real song... i like how he does it much better but that's only natural since i've heard it his way since i was a baby... I love it though

  • the story of our lives, ...all of us

  • This has to be one of my all-time favorite songs, coincidentally from the very first rock album I ever owned.

  • John Kay has written some great songs

  • "Don't look back or you'll never find peace of mind." Fuck Dr.Phil there's more wisdom in one Steppenwolf song than in all of Dr.Phil's gibberish.

  • ... es gibt keine Zufälle - aber schöne Momente

  • ... there are no coincidences - just beautiful moments ☺ Nizza eins!

  • this is a clear case of serendipity.

    Many thanks, Uploader!

  • Thanks ELGROOVER from the album - Rest in Peace ; this song is very good !

  • It's just such a beautiful song - my god John Kaye has a voice!!!
