  • wow...God bless this band......they rock hard even at this age. im 15 and even i like this group....and a lot of oldies bands :)

  • @elephantpersonthingy man it doesnt matter how old you are. Im not that much older but its just about what youve been introduced to. Are you experienced by Jimi Hendrix (check it out if you dont know it) was the first album my dad introduced me to at a young age. They arent oldies bands man, they are just generally better and require a music taste you just wont find today. Keep listening to this stuff man \m/\m/. Let me know if you like and i can recommend some old school music.

    FANTASY WILL SET YOU FREE.

    CLOSE YOUR EYES.

  • John Kay's seen chewing gum right after he sings "I like to dream, mmmmm hmmmm yes, yes, Right between the sound machine..." I would venture to say that this 67 year old falls somewhere in the bad ass category.

  • The drugs are noticeably missing

  • that keyboardists a faggot. just sayin.

and its appears that you are a moron.

  • Oldie but goldie!!! #FTW

  • @koolinturn

    lsd. lsd is missing.

  • @koolinturn I know what you mean, watching this kind of songs being played nowadays is like watching Kiss without the make up or Elvis without his quiff

  • All hail the Hammond organ!

  • that piano organ key board guy is.. uh.. well he's pretty skilful lool

  • im 16 this is pretty good

  • I saw Steppenwolf headline in 1972 at a Ice Arena in Illinois, RUSH was filling in for Canned Heat. RUSH ATE the show alive. I enjoyed John Kay's show, but honestly Rush played their entire first album that night and I was paralyzed by their performance.

I though God himself sat in on drums for this Canadian band we all BOO-ed before they played and as they came out. We MADE them do an encore!!

    What a night. Ahhhh memories.

    Peace.

  • @PrinceofPeace9957 GREAT STORY, RUSH HAS BEEN THE MOST SUCCESSFUL CANADIAN BAND, I KICK MYSELF A FEW YEARS AGO, COULD HAVE SEEN THEM , 3 HR CONCERT NO WARM UP BAND.. I WENT TO SEE ZZ-TOP WHAT A MISTAKE..

  • @Rick31797 what's wrong with you? ZZ top is an awesome band, so is Rush and so is Steppenwolf.

  • Definitely brings back some memories. John Kay is still great but looks amazingly like the late John Holmes.

  • Wow! John Kay is great, the drummer is cruising, and the keyboardist is totally wild. I agree with PierrettePar--I feel 15 again, too. Love this song.

  • TURN IT UP!

  • Jam as Jam can get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Such a bunch of sexy geezers! :D

  • John Kay, your a class act!

  • @PikPobedy I agree. He's a German!!

  • @TheWolliwood He's a german jew actually

  • Navy Mike circa 1968 Moffett Field, CA - You are in my memories. I was only jailbait at that time, but man you were hot!!

  • First concet at the ripe age of 16... 40 years later still can't get enough.

  • John keepin the spirit alive with that SEVA t-shirt good on ya Johnny!

  • 6 guys didn't enjoy the ride....

  • @xelser Hahah, 6 guys might be Justin Beiber Fag fans. :)

  • What a Power :D

  • I'm surprised their still good. Most bands that've played as long as they have suck.

  • oh god great

  • Looking good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fuck I hate keyboards!

  • Wooo hooooo! HAMMOND B3! Rock on! Yeah!

  • people complain about the bridge being to long, but seeing him play lead makes it much better.

  • He looks like, and reminds me of, Ricky Bobby's dad in the movie The Talladega Knights

  • @thechad12341234

Ricky Bobby's dad reminds me of Tommy Holland

  • I spent many of these guys shows backstage man I miss them!

  • see kids, this is music! not the junk you hear today!

  • I was 7 when this came out.... bummers...... I missed all the trippin

  • Always loved the ending with the two solo guitars

  • 6 people are about to get a magic carpet shoved up there rear

  • @edyoung44 ROFL You deserve a friend request for that comment.

  • why are comments about justin beiber in this fucking video? dont u idiots realize that talking about or remotely mentioning his name makes him more popular?

thats why that fag makes more money than any of u haters

  • My favorite song. Period. I saw them while in high school in Cupertino, Ca.

in 1978 and four times after. These guys rock. The music sounds as fresh

today at it did 25+ years ago.

  • Best song ever!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Met John and the Band at the Chestnut Cabaret in Philly in the 1980's. The show was fabulous and the Band was very sociable with their audience. Have seen them perform many times since. SD&R&R. I will be a Fan Forever!

  • Great Song

  • when was this what year 80's 90's 00's 10's

  • @edyoung44 2006:D

  • @MotionBrickStudios thank you

  • The Steppenwolf was simply fantastic! My favorite is Monster!!

  • Makes me feel like I'm 15 again!!!! :D

  • Deal!!! Douche bag or not I do love his music, that is why he "was" an idol of mine and why the opportunity to open for him (even if it was past his prime) was such a milestone for me and my band. It was just sad to see how unappreciative he is:-(

  • And you are also most likely gay, but what does that have to do with my substancial grasp of the English language? Oh, you don't speak English, so you wouldn't know would you. Suck my beer can size dick.

  • i love the sound of the leslies spinning the B3 sound. this makes the song for me!

  • he is german :D

  • This performance is good, but John Kay is a fucking prick. He is such a douche bag it is rediculous. A band I was in at the time played a festival with Steppenwolf and a few other notables. I was totally turned off by how he "big timed" everyone. He was a complete asshole. He forgets that Steppenwolf has not had a single on the charts in over 25 years... I still cringe everytime we cover Born to Wild. I hate this guy. He and John Mellancamp should brothers.

  • @NTR2DR I hate your english..

  • @NTR2DR what band was you in I might know it...Love these guys THEN and Now!!!

  • Whether I have the accolades or not is irrelevant. One: There has been no accolades for John Kay in decades. Two: His "has been" status gives him no right to "big time" anyone. Not only was he a snob, he was an asshole! Have you ever met him? Bet not! I have, so the name of my band does not matter. John Kay is still a ROYAL COCK SUCKING PRICK!!! So, you and Kay can each play "go fuck yourself". Take away "Born", "Carpet Ride" and "Highway Star" and he has as many hit as Justin Beiber...

  • @NTR2DR Highway Star? Hmmmmmmmm....

  • @GloveDoesntFit Ooops, that was Deep Purple. I guess I gave Kay too much credit. Now he has 1 hit less than Justin Beiber. Thanks for helping me make my point. I am personal friends with a lot of folks in the music industry, most of which are quite humble and approachable off stage. They will tell you that erogance will kill your career. Take a band like Steppenwolff who is in its twilight and you need all the help you can get, so don't piss on the ones that put food on your table.

  • @NTR2DR Haha. I like him for the way he acts in front of a mic. When the microphone isn't on, I really don't care what he does. His lack of great songs is what keeps him from still being big, not how he acts off stage. I'm sure if Paul McCartney wasn't nice, he could still sell out any tour he put his name on. It's "Bieber", by the way. hahah

  • @GloveDoesntFit Goes to show how much I care about "Beiber or Bieber" or whatever his name is. As a fellow musician that idolized many like Kay coming up, it is quite disheartening to finaily get the oportunity to open for the guy just for you to realize what kind of douche bag he is. I don't care for what he does on stage because it is not sincere... that is first hand knowledge. Sorry to burst your bubble, but all he did was complain about having to perform outside in the heat. It was 75f.

  • @NTR2DR Fiiiiiiiine. You win! I'll agree with you that Kay is a douche bag, if you make sure to never misspell Bieber! hahaha

  • Thats a mullet!

  • @HerschelMatthews and why is this not steppenwolf? im pretty god damn sure thats john kay.. just by his vocals.. trademark steppenwolf.. its fucking awesome...

  • @popsucks111

Dude, be nice. Surely he's blind and deff...not to mention his mum would have helped to type this for him. Not cool man, not cool.

    ;)

  • @popsucks111 THIS IS STEPPENWOLF..........

  • Stick microphone FTW, love what he does with the stand too. The bloody face mics used by modern popsingers who aren't even singing half the time always look so shit.

    Awesome performance!

  • Saw them last summer with Foghat - they still kick butt!!

  • Oh, and, is that a Hammond B3 I hear and see? Oh yay yuh. :)

  • OMG! This IS FAR OUT AND GNARLY! ahem....I mean, this is great! hehehe :)

  • he looks like Art Bell

  • What year was this and what was the event?

  • 5 guys weren't allowed on the ride...

  • Saw them in Cleveland in 1971.

  • THE ORIGINAL STEPPENWOLF - WHERE FROM 68 TO 71 THE LAST LP -FOR LADIES ONLY . AFTER REUNION 74 -SLOW FLOX- HOURS OF THE WOLF- AND SKULLDUGERY. I SAW THEM IN ATHENS 1980 BAT IT WAS'NT THE ORIGINAL

  • THIS IS THE BEST SONG

  • Here's 1 group the hall of fame is missing

  • @roxydog2004

U right! If ZZ Top is in the Hall with uh, any? hits these guys sure as hell should be. I'm from Houston, by the way, and the flea-bitten beards the boys still wear are a LITTLE excentric. Love the organ work. Saw these boys in 69/70? The venue acoustics or soundboard weren't suitable so the vocals bombed but the instrumentals still made it a great day. Knew an audiophile who used to tune his car stereo to MCR.

  • For real, this is the real music... best I ever heard.... steppenwolf forever.

  • Todd this is for you ROFLMAO.

  • Weed= Still Sounded Great Years Later... LOL

  • @FireeGee Pakalolo!!!

  • Caught them at a Q-107 anniversary. They made it one of the best parties ever!

  • they still live? means for me they've done sth wrong back there xD awsome song

  • lets go for a ride 60ties gold

  • Lead singer is a dead ringer for John Holmes...

  • @CitySkin09 John Kay maybe -- 9"

  • ce vidéo date de quand?

  • He still looks and sounds great ♥

  • Very cool performance thanks soooo much this is my favorite song

  • Way much better than the new Pop shit like Katy Perry!

  • Best Song ever!

  • This man looks waste

  • Exelent video.

  • They're awesome live!

  • I always wished there was an available 8 or 9 minute version of this classic. There ssems to be alot of room for improvising in the middle of the song. But this is the next best thing. At 1:07, Kay says "Flies far, goes near". In the studion version, it's the other way around "Goes far, flies near". I guess he wanted to change things around a little bit after 40 years.

  • Well, fuck me runnin. These boys ain't dead yet!

  • I saw an interview with John Kay a number of years ago......he is a very shrewd business man. All considering, this being a live performance, his age etc....To me he is about at a solid 90% of how he sounded in his hey day. There are plenty of famous ageing rockers that don't sound as good as he does

  • M... F....in.... Rockin...!!!!!!!!!

  • how can 5 faggots not like this song r they on fucking drugs or r they just retarded

  • @cganle i'll tell you how 5 fa--otts not like this song......because they are obviously used to only listening to miley cyrus

  • @inkey2 yeah definatly

  • @cganle it is clear they are retards and faggots this song is so fucking awesome
