RADD, generally true but not completely. A single black bear attacked and killed a group of tourists at a hot spring in Liard. 4 more were injured. I've seen a dominant black chase 3 grouped bears away in its area.

Ha, I do a great cougar impersonation, I went mountain biking with a friend who happens to be a 6'4" Rabbi, riding a tiny bike, (just to help with the visual) I got a head of him on the trail, climbed up a ledge and let her rip as he rode by... You have never seen ANYONE pedal so fast in their life, I think that was his closest moment with god.... it also was a few weeks after those bikers got eaten in Orange county by a mountain lion... The trail is between 2 lakes.  My friend (the videographer) and myself were about 15 minutes ahead of the rest of the group by boat. The bad part -- THOUSANDS of mosquitoes feasted on me while I crouched down in the bushes waiting on the others to walk by!
