This NES version was defo an improvement over the Arcade version just a massive shame they didnt include a 2 player mode in the main game it would have been perfect then. Me and my older brother were horrified when he bought the game home and found out it was only a 1 player game......but Double Dragon 2 made up for this!!

@megatroll Miyamoto's Super Mario Bros 2 was at the behest of Nintendo of Japan changed into a diffrent game against his own desire, doki doki panic panic, but Nintendo of America didn't like the Miyamotoless game NOJ presented as Mario 2, so they consoluted Shigeru on HIS DESIGN FOR MARIO 2! He didn't want to return to the mushroom kingdom for the sequel...that's the main reason it was very different.

Hi to everyone! I like this this game it's one of my top list in nes games. I know how to beat the boss. Actually... I accidentally discover a GLITCH in this game. In the final stage when you already in front of this door, two enemies will appear. One guy has a knife, don't let it hit you. Kill any one of them then make sure if you're going to kill the other guy you are close enough to the knife. 2 to 3 seconds before the enemy disappear s quickly pick up the knife. And VIOLA! A NEW WEAPON!

Then new enemies will arrive, kill the other guy with you're new WEAPON. But again a TRICK must be perform. Let the enemy hit you with one punch or kick this will make you dropped your weapon. Again kill the enemy close enough to the weapon before the enemy dissipates quickly pick up your weapon it will change again to another weapon. Do this process again and again until JIMMY comes out... FINALLY... BEAT THE HELL OUT OF HIM! HE'S NO MATCH TO YOUR FINAL WEAPON!

Double Dragon was a great game in the arcade and a great game on the NES, but the two versions are miles apart. The version you like better is most likely the version you played first.

Good game, yet I never liked it, mainly because I loved the Arcade version and this one was not even close to it, while a decent game, I believe the programmers where not even trying to make it similar, but rather hoped people would buy it expecting the arcade version with the same name.

At least its much better than the Atari 2600 version... in that game you had two hard opponents, you beat them and... you win :P (basically the game freezes and the sky turns pink. Congrats =P

Nintendo were lazy until they had a kick up the arse by other companies. The original NES was going to be 16 bit! That would have been amazing for the early 80's but too expensive.

It went astray from the arcade version, the characters dont look the same and the final boss was completely different. This was a crappy version of DD not to mention the fact that you couldnt play 2 players simultaneously.

IMHO it didn't necessarily "suck nuts", but if you're looking it up, it wasn't actually a REAL Mario game. It was a totally different game from a developer and they simply replaced the sprites of the main characters with Mario, Luigi, Toad etc.

We all play Streets of Rage, Contra, or even Mortal Kombat II together on my Retron 3. So there are some old school gamer kids. BTW I grew up paying old school games on my gameboy pocket. OMG!!! You countered him lovely at 2:00 with the recovery spin kick. I love the sound of that boot kick. Co, co, wuuu-co. LoL!!! I always strive to get the 7 hearts as fast as I can just so I can pull that move off all the time. It is Billy's strongest attack. I wish Tradewest would have made the option to do that move by itself. Maybe a combination of Up, and the kick button at the same time. Oh well, great game!

You kick him and then do a back elbow. Those deal the most damage to Jimmy. Jumps kicks are completely useless against him.

The best way to beat the final boss would be to keep trying to kick him. Judge the distance from which you kick; when he gets up, start kicking when he is standing halfway up, do not wait until he gets up all the way, it will make defeating him a lot easier for you if you do it that way.

I thought the SMS one was cool 'cause it was more like the arcade and you could play with two players...but the damn thing would slow down and flicker when you played on 2P mode. The NES one was nothing like the arcade, but at least it played well. I really WANTED to like the SMS one better, but the NES version was clearly superior.

I have to dissagree. The game is called Double Dragon, not "Single Dragon" - They totally killed the fun out of this by not making it 2 player. I think double dragon 2 got it right though the controls can be a bit confusing depending which way youre facing. Part 3 was really good too but waaaaay to hard...and no continues :(

Well, This game is ultra mega cool.I have Double Dragon totally sealed and other to play in my NES.I bought many nes games in ebay.I love collecting retro games because it makes me feel like a child je je .I prefer playing retro games in my Nes than play in emulator but that depends if you like collecting games or just wanna play without feeling the real power. Famicoms don't flash, and my NES rarely flashes (I clean it regularly and I took the system apart and cleaned it). Emulators fail to capture the real feel of the system, and some, like the popular NESticle, aren't even accurate (NESticle's sound is significantly off vs. the system). The only 2 ood uses for emulators are hacking and trying. Regular play should be only on original NESes and Famicoms (unless you are a poser, which in that case, you don't deserve to play it).
