I mean, it's not OUTRIGHT terrible, the emotional ambiguity is in there but the dissonance is too repetitive, and should give way to the melody around the 2 minute mark. It also lacks the rapid percussion, it's evoked, but it's not there. Aphex Twin pays more attention to melody and harmony than dissonance, that's why his music sounds so good, the rapid percussion accents it and emphasizes the dissonance whihc makes it interesting. This is pretty fucking amateur no doubt, but I see potential.
not quite, but there must be something said for the phenomenon of people trying to release music under the Aphex Twin moniker, I've seen it several times before...
1. RDJ Does not have a signature sound. He probably likes this "plinky" stuff!
2. Nannou 1 was clockwork sounds, Nannou 2 was piano music. So, it's perfectly possible that this is a natural progression in the Nannou series from that.
3. Really, you have no idea what RDJ will do. He probably released this as a free album posing as some guy from an Ontario suburb, and the poster figured it out.
