@sigma1o1 I've since found the Byzantines referred to themselves as Romans and Wikipedia lists The Roman Empire as having ended in 1453. At a glance, I thought " WTF ", but there is extensive information on Rome and Byzantine culture, so I can see what they meant. The Byzantines considered themselves Roman. They didn't teach any of this at my schools, just really boring stuff about the Industrial Revolution.

However, the people who made up the empires remains, as well as their memories and legacy. Roman empire is gone, but its legacy and its people remains. Romans are still around, as do Germans, British, French, Chinese, Turks or Japanese. The same went for Jewish people.
But there are two legacy that sprung from Jewish culture that I do not like at all: Christianity and Islam.

Also, Israel was some sort of very stupid move by the UN. They took a religious scripture as some sort of legal documents then pinch a piece of land right where enemies of Jewish people are and call it a day.
