  • Nice job on the tutorial. As a person who uses this braid a lot, I highly recommend tying/pegging down one end onto a wall. Although with paracord it comes out nice and even, with thinner twine the braid will twist and kink if it isn't secured.

  • Gostei

  • Is this the same as the 4 strand Diamond Weave? Just curious, this is much easier if it is. If it isn't can u make a video on how to do 4 strand Diamond weave. Thanks TIAT..

  • This technique really is nice! much easier than all that left outter around and over...blah blah blah...can you do a video on a pinapple knot made over top of one of these? Love all your videos JD, great stuff!

  • what are some fusion knots/ braids you can show (or have shown) that can be turned into a necklace? i turned the zipper sinnet into a necklace but i have found many paracord necklaces.

  • Only recently started knotting - mostly with 550 paracord. I was given a link to this video tutorial which led me to JD's book. It came just now. It is a wonderful book on knotting and I highly recommend it (but I was disappointed that this 4-strand round braid was not included). With different color strands, it is easy to see how this braid is done; however I would NOT recommend anyone trying it with only one color until they master it (DAMHIKT).

  • Thanks! I've been using 550 cord with this to make some nice necklaces.

  • I did this with 108" of each color, and it produced 48" of braided line. Great video.

  • Any chance you have a ratio of how much paracord will produce how much braid?

    great video also.

  • This is fantastic. JD, your visual problem solving is fantastic. I love your book, your videos, and your site.

  • How can we make this into a bracelet?!

    Please Answer....

  • Great clip of how to do a 4 strand braid and at a speed that allows you to follow along and it is that easy.

    Thanks.

  • Great videos! My daughter and I are learning these together.

  • how many times do you get asked where you get your para cord from? lol do you think that 450 just makes knots and braclets look better do to the lesser amount of internal strands or what because i am looking to start making and selling these so should i go with 450 since it is a little cheaper and probably looks better or 550 since it has better performance ans structure?

  • ok, i thought i knew what was happening right up until you twisted the two strands the first time >_< what goes into what lol

  • well i have to say your videos are fantastic they gave me several ideas for X-mas presents this year and really shown me wat an intriging art knot tying is. htank you very much for taking the time to make these videos, and God Bless.

p.s. I'v downloaded most of your vids from your site and ordered your fusion knots book today, again great job, keep it up

  • I used this for my hair, since the video I was watching was so confusing ;). Makes ut easier to see how it's donne with the two different colors :D.

  • @Snarky2113 sorry for pretty much saying exactly what you did. I didnt see your comment XD

  • @Hotkiss563 take a moment to look at anybody else on youtube who does knot-tying vids. There are just 2 that outshine the rest. TIAT and another who isnt worthy enough to be named. Note that TIAT pauses at any key points. The rest just go through the motions. Now learn touse the pause button.

  • Is this possible to do with four strings?

  • I really like your informative videos but I always end up watching more than once since the music lulls me to sleep half-way through. I wonder if you aren't actually an evil hypnotist casting a spell on all of us youtubers and subliminally ordering us to do your bidding.?.? LOL :D

  • THANK YOU!!!!! YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON O YOUTUBE THAT CAN EXPLAIN HOW TO DO THIS

  • I'd like to try this as a lanyard - do you have suggestions for making it a loop?

  • Thanx for showing us that, I've always wanted to know how they tie those knots, and NOW I do! You made it very simple and easy to understand so thank you.. I'll have to try it now!

  • @tyingitalltogether what colour is the blue and where do you get it from

  • @Greg123ory - The blue is "royal blue" and I get it from VTArmyNavy(dot)com

  • I couldn't quite understand your video. You do it WAY TOO FAST!

And your fingers keep getting in the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Sorry but I'm just warning you. :(

  • @Hotkiss563 ya i am getting quickly lost.

  • @Hotkiss563 imho, he is one of the best knot tyers on youtube, always pausing to show form after an advance, if you dont believe me just check out other tying videos on youtube...

  • Is there any way to do this with 2 strands of paracord?

  • @spermy This is using 2 strands of paracord.

  • How do you tie that finishing knot?

  • @bighurt1980jwh I think its a double Matthew Walker knot there are videos out there.

  • How do you tie the finshing knot?

  • thanks, great video, u made it very easy learn :)

  • this is the hardest braid i have ever tried.... cant figure it out

  • THIS IS SO HELPFUL!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! the only thing i don't know is how to tie it off! do you have another video for that?

  • This will work perfectly for making my own fire snakes with 4 strands of 1/2" kevlar rope :)

  • Which knot did you use to finish the braid?

  • Many thanks for share your knowledge !!!

It has helped me so much !

  • omg how do you do this its sooo hard

  • Yours turned out great mine turned out too loose. The only thing really keeping it held together is the last knot at the end so sadly I wasn't able to keep it tight enough going through and mine didn't turn out well. This one is really easy though but I'm going to go with another of the knots from your vids for my carry knife ;)

  • this one is really cool...i'v learnt it from my grand mother

i wonder if you can make a tutorial of the 6 or 8 strands Round Braid

    i love your vids

    thanks

  • hey can u tell me wat the braid is called 4 the one at like 0:01??if u start from the left coner and goi right itz the second one! thnx!!

  • ei maikati mrasna nemoga go naprave ve pedal neshtasten eban

  • You are totally my hero for this! Thank you (and subbed) :)

  • ??? How do you end the braid? Thanks!

  • where can you buy paracord

  • @MrMua74 - VTArmyNavy(dot)com

  • Thank you! My friends & I have been trying to make the diamond braid for days & could never get it! You are a life saver!

  • Oh my god that's so easy! wow, I guess I was doing it the hard way!

  • i can't even do it. and spent like 2hrs on it. :((((

  • OK - nice video, but how did you end the knot ?

  • can you show us "the hard way" also?

  • that looks like an overhand knot in the vid, but i dont lknow why a wall knot wouldn't work

  • howd u end the knot??

  • Sorry, also asking if you might share how to join on additional lengths, or attach braided two pieces together?

  • Could you please share how to finish off once you have reached the desired length?

Thanks a lot for the video by the way, it is so much easier than the others I watched first!

  • @bristerstew

The finish looks to me like a wall knot using doubled strands. If you're after instructional videos that cover wall knots, I recommend rroyl's series on Matthew Walker knots.

  • Is there a way of making this into a bracelet?

  • so if I see what you end up with my guess is two 4 ft. lengths will make a bracelet length of aproximately 7 or 8 inches?

  • I used this braid (called plait in whip making) along with many other patterns and number of cords to make an 8 foot whip. Cracks as loud as a gun shot. Though if you do feel like trying your hand at whip making, I recommend you use good quality 550 cord and pull the inner stands out. Makes for a smoother surface.

  • i just ordered 550 cord from there...they have 450 too.....you saying the 550 is cheap?

  • Nice I've been following the complicated, over involved instructions. Haven't tried it yet but when working with 20ft of cord i think the method you have developed will work much better and with much less tangling. Gonna try it soon but do you think this method could be used with increasing numbers of cord?

Love your videos and your books keep em coming.

  • thanks, that way is pretty easy to follow

  • NOOOOOOO!!!!! People never show how to finish off. :(

  • What type of string do you use and where may I find it? :]

  • @ChloeOinks

    ...

It's called 450 Paracord (although type of cord or string will work for the ties, even rope).

    ...

That said I get my Cord and Rope at my local hardware store and online through VTArmyNavy(dot)com

  • @TyingItAllTogether Just remember the Para Cord you buy at VT Army Navy store is NOT true 550 cord... So do not try to use it as it is meant to be used... Yes it is 450 cord, but it is also very poor quality 450 cord. Works great for tying but not for anything else where your life in on the line... No pun intended.... The inner cords are made up of a very cheap synthetic nylon. You put the Military grade next to the VYAN store stuff and you cut them open you will see the difference..

  • @punch0569 I just ordered 550 cord from that website.....it said that it was military grade.......they had two different sections 450 and 550.......you had their 550 before?

  • @football4836 Yes I have ordered from them many times... BUT I only use the cord that I order from them for craft work! The 550 that they sell is not always military grade it is hit or miss. If you want the really good stuff then you need to get it from ROTHCO you want the GI PLUS... But the 450 that VT AN store sell is great for crafts... Just don't try to pawn it off as survival rope IE is in survival bracelets!!

  • @ChloeOinks Another dumbass.... READ OMG!!!!

  • @ChloeOinks i dnt know

  • This is astoundingly simpler than I thought. Compared to this, the box knot seems tricky.

  • They are doing a gigantic version of this on ITS Tactical haha. Its going to be used as a fast rope.

  • I will be able to do that one the first time. GREAT video JD

  • Another great vid mate, thank you.

  • I love your Vids. Can't wait for the book. You started my daughter on new craft in life.

    Thanks, Rich

  • nice vid as usual,, btw my amazon pre order says it will deliver by Jan 2011, is that true?

  • Nice job JD! I've run into issues with some other ways of making this. Thanks for sharing with the group!

  • could youalso start it on a key ring / carabiner?

  • @jakeman552 you can pretty much start it on anything just loop through and if you want the spiral effect start with C1 C2 C1 C2 instead of C1 C2 C2 C1 like he did

  • esta linda y es muy facil, gracias por el tutorial

  • its so simple i love it!! =]
