If Mao's Cultural Revolution was such a success as you suggest why was it that Deng Xiaoping prosecuted the gang of four, which included Mao's widow Jiang Qing for amongst other things corruption and crimes against humanity?. This video shows Tibetans trying to escape Tibet. Many of them are children wanting a proper education, which they cannot get in Tibet.
Kelsang Namtso, a nun was shot in the back and killed by Chinese soldiers and 2 bullets hit another Tibetan.
This incident at Nangpa La Pass (a traditional trade route between Tibet and Nepal) is just part of the genocide which is happening in Tibet.

When compared to the "prostrating pilgrimage", one can understand why the footage was cut at that point, b/c he would rise in a few seconds. The very same technique was used in 0:05, but at 0:42 showed the continuation of 0:05, that gave away the lie, the first "victim" did get up and walk away.

All I did was ask a fair minded question based on my own immediate experience at Tiananmen Square. I was not offering propaganda, I was not China bashing. There are many videos of that dreadful event and I have a number of my own which I have never posted here. You say you are overseas, I wonder where you are?. I wonder whether you have lived in China?. You may well have done. If you love China so much then maybe you should live there rather than the West which you feel is so biased in its views

If u were there, then you should know the anarchy had been going on in TAM for months without abading. No matter what is the grievences, occupying a public square for months on end is wrong. Law and order should be maintained so nation doesn't go in to chaos. How many Russian lives had been lost and cut short in the ten yr chaos after democracy? Tens of millions!
I saw videos of military convoys set on fire, violent mob attacking PLA, as well as vid of tankman. PLA showed extreme disciplin.

You think that in occupying a square in an effort to secure freedom of speech that one deserves to be shot and killed. No anarchy was not going on there until the tanks entered. For sure there were one or two hot heads but the overal feeling there was one of peaceful protest. I cannot allow you to get away with the comment that there was anarchy in the Square, there was not. Now you bring Russia into this and so it is you who seek to alter the subject.

It was anarchy, the central government and city was paralyzed by the occupation of the public square. Can anyone for any reason occupy downtown DC for months on end without permission? No.
Burning military convoy is called obstruction of justice is called rioting.
Since you already shifted subject to TAM, why not go further?

I guess my interpretion of anarchy is differant to yours..The question I asked was did they deserve to be shot and killed and the answer in a civilized society has to be no they did not. Certainly in downtown DC I doubt the police would deliberately shoot its own people for occupying a square. Your comments are really very hard edged and you do your cause in promoting the Western media as biased and China as a civilized country no good at all.

PLA didn't start shooting until they were attacked as broke through the barricades. If DC police/Guardsmen were violently attacked as they breaking through barricades, Guardsmen would no doubt open fire. The tankman video showed exactly how PLA responded to rioters. PLA soldiers were extemely calm, restained, and accommodating.

Should the location I live limit what I should think or speak? Why I should not speak my mind against Western propaganda, just because I live in the West? I live where I want to live, I speak up when I see evil.
I don't see any problems here.
Why anyone loves China has to live in China?
Ones current residency and ones affaction for a land are two separate issues.

Of course it shouldnt but if you loathe the Western view so much I wonder why you stay. personally I try and take a wider perspective than the one you take. I have endeavoured to be fair and give China its credit where its due.

How could any fairmind individual not lothe the spreading and inspiring of hatred through lies? And it continues on day in and day out. Don't see the thousands of oversea Chinese, no one likes to do this but now we have to speak up and point out the lies.
As China itself, it has make progresses and it has many challenges. But spreading lies to demonize China is wrong. How many in West know Chinese gov. ranked highest in satisfaction rating in the world many yrs in the roll?

Certain parts of American society feel that they are hated abroad and it's a nonsense. It's also a nonsense to suggest that China is hated by the West,it's simply not so. What's not particularly liked is the the politics in both countires by certain open minded and thoughtful people. Very few in the West have anything against China other than its politics.

We have all seen the attacks on Olympic Torch relay around the West. This is when overseas Chinese people finally rose up. The Western hatred toward China was in full display inflamed by Wetern media. This day and age, no one can afford to not hit back when one is being smeared. This is a game we are dragged in to play. We have to raise our voice, tit for tat.

I read your profile with real interest. If Mao's Cultural Revolution was such a success as you suggest why was it that Deng Xiaoping prosecuted the gang of four, which included Mao's widow Jiang Qing for amongst other things corruption and crimes against humanity?. Deng Xiaoping introduced sweeping reforms which have led to China's enormous economic successes today and have gone some way towards improving human rights in that country.

It would be unfair to suggest that there have not been enormous improvements in human rights in China but what measure can we use as a starting point? China is an amazing country and it's people are wonderful. My concerns are for freedom of political expression without fear of torture and imprisonment. China's politics are not of the West and nor can change take place immediately but freedom of political expression is a human right that we all should have regardless of where in the world we live

I never said CR was a great sucess. It was a mistake. But Chairman Mao is still a great hero for the CHinese people.
I am fed up with lies on youtube to inspire hatred toward China. What's the difference between Nazi propaganda and what Western media is doing today? Have you seen the racist hatred expressed in the comments even right here in the earlier pages?? Those despicable shameful shameful liars..

As I said I have spent time in China and I question your view that Chairman Mao is as respected as the hero you suggest he is. I have heard many Chinese express the opposite view in very direct terms.

I don't know who you have talked to, me and my friends respect Chairman Mao. To the younger generation, when removed from the direct consequences of some of his mistakes, we see the good he did to China. China tried everything since Opium War, but never made progress before PRC. What a difference has it made since 1949! Without the founding of PRC, China would not be today's China. As time goes on more and more Chinese will realize the significance of founding PRC.

You speak as the "younger generation" and so you never lived through the cruelties Mao and his cronies inflicted on the Chinese people, had you done you might have a differant view. Mao's people did not have the luxury of expression that you have living in the West. He was no saint but you need to look to the reforms of Deng Xiaoping who did far more than the PRC ever did to promote the financial successes China enjoys in the world today. By the way I talk to many ordinary Chinese people.
