i hate when they do that too it pisses me off

also he didnt fight because you hooked him and closed his lips

usually when they get hooked in their stomach or their mouth is closed by the hook they will not fight much

Hah! It's so true! Most ppl thinks that pike attacks in 1sec "oo! fuckin lure! i'm gonna eat this". As PangeaSpreads said, wathing pike following your lure is very exciting. I had situations when pike was following my lure and didn't attack, in most of this situations good thing to do is to stop your bait and snap it - to provoke this beautiful predator! Thx for upload! Well, we have pikes in Poland but it's very hard to catch a real big one. 10-20 years ago it was different, we had many big fishes in our waters, but now...

We're catching 40-70cm pikes mostly.(1,3-2,3ft long)

I find it very interesting , that the pike followed up for a while before hitting the bait , ..........I've always thought , that they'd come dashing by from a distance to hit within a fraction of a second !

I was in a kayak and 3 gar pike swam underneath it, one almost took my bait but I reeled in, I didn't have the right gear. I did hook into a fairly good sized bass though.

I would highly rate polarised sunglasses to any pike fisherman who has never used them as they take the glare off the water and in clear waters you can see a good distance through the water and as this video shows perfectly, pike will often stalk a lure and with most my catches, do not strick until the lure is nearly fully retrieved, you will be able to see the pike stalking your lure which is great fun, also you won't get a fright when a pike explodes through the water two feet from you!

i guess. if you're a pike fisherman. but personally i like to go after all the fish in my lake, and when i take my 3yr old cousins out, even the baitfish. the pike are fun to catch, but sometimes they just ruin the rest of the lake for me.

if a pike gets in the net and spits the hook out is it still a catch? and if a pike gets hooked outside the mouth could it be a catch too? My theory is that it took the stick bait and since the treble hook is lower than the bait i set the hook into the outside of it's mouth. Please give me the answer!

well it is considered "snagging" when you hook it outside the mouth but as far as it not being legal idn, but yes it is still a catch, and a long as tha fish makes it into the boat, you're golden, try not to net a pike tho, if your not going to keep it take the hook out in the water, pike a protecctive slime and if you take too much of it off the fish could actually die

It doesn't matter anway, the pike eats and kills everything else in the lake-Bass-Trout-Pickerel-All baitfish. One pike dying will actually help your lake.

You need a couple of big pike left in any lake. I fish for pike and coarse fish in the uk and the big pike keep the number of small "Jack" pike under control, its these smaller fish that rape the lake
