Always pick towards the string you're about to play next or in the end its much harder to play fast. If your on the same string playing it over and over try and fit it so that the last time u pick it you're picking the right direction to the next string. I hope that helps?

@flashpadxxx i definitely would recommend you watch the speed kills series by michael angleo batio. He explains a non biased approach to how to pick. Basically he explains how to determine the best way to pick given certain situations. And in this situation you should probably be sweeping it.

i like to just do the hammer on style arpeggios go 5-8 and then 6-9 on the a and so on and if you want a diminished scale find the root and move up 1 fret and connect it to the fifth flatted

no, theyre actually harder to play because you have to put the right amount of pressure on the string or you might bend it, try a guitar with scalloped frets at ur local music store and ull see what i mean

scalloped fretboards are supposed to be easier once you get the hang of them because very little pressure is needed to fret the strings. Have yet to try one myself though.
