I do not get all the conservative outcry over the "failed stimulus." The vast majority of the outlays were not stimulus at all, but emergency loans to keep the banks above water. And over half the TARP money has already been repaid, a fact of which conservatives seem totally (willfully?) ignorant.
Point is, the government did not spend a trillion dollars in railroads or salaries for construction or anything like that. I promise you, we would have seen a LOT of jobs if that were the case.
To refute the Congresswoman's statistics means you first have to accept that those figures were valid to begin with. It's a gross distortion of truth to show things went south starting in 2009 without also pointing out (or acknowledging) that the Great Recession started in 2008.
She said 16,500 IRS agents would be "in charge of policing" the Health Care law. There are roughly 16,700 agents in the entire IRS. So that leaves only 200 agents to handle our tax returns?

Actions speak louder than words. By that standard, both Bachmann AND Obama make grandiose promises they'll never keep. Both are desperate to advance the perception they are dedicated reformers who will fix a broken system.
Consider the consequences of their policies. The real agenda is obvious: to protect the status quo. Bachmann and Obama are just two sides of the same coin.

@WoodyLittle - My apologies, it was 2 am. Thank you for taking the time to prove me wrong. I admire a good debate and don’t mind criticism. I pulled the Quote from the video feed from CNN. I was reading something else while listening to Bachmann speak. All I can say is, she was speaking, I was reading, it was 2 am = a foot in my mouth because I did not double check. I won’t make that mistake again. I try to stay away from editorial columns and rely on what the person actually states.

To give the woman some credit, she was looking at the Tea Party's camera. The TV station's camera was right next to it; that is the image we get. The Tea Party refused to release their footage. That refusal doesn't make her or them look any less stupid, though.

I do not get all the conservative outcry over the "failed stimulus." The vast majority of the outlays were not stimulus at all, but emergency loans to keep the banks above water. And over half the TARP money has already been repaid, a fact of which conservatives seem totally (willfully?) ignorant.
Point is, the government did not spend a trillion dollars in railroads or salaries for construction or anything like that. I promise you, we would have seen a LOT of jobs if that were the case.

To refute the Congresswoman's statistics means you first have to accept that those figures were valid to begin with. It's a gross distortion of truth to show things went south starting in 2009 without also pointing out (or acknowledging) that the Great Recession started in 2008.
She said 16,500 IRS agents would be "in charge of policing" the Health Care law. There are roughly 16,700 agents in the entire IRS. So that leaves only 200 agents to handle our tax returns?
