If you think about it, this battle is more heart tending than creepy. It shows a mother's love can defeat even the strongest hatred. Just think about it, no matter how evil and hateful Giygas was, all of his hatred was diminished by the reminder that someone in the universe genuinely loved him like a son (well, diminished temporarily anyway). Its enough to put a happy little grin on your face. :]

Actually, I believe Itoi named the game Mother because he didn't want a generic name for the video game, but I'm sure the title influenced a lot of the things in the game. As for the Giygas fetus thing, that's more speculation than anything. Giygas' finial form is simply the remains of his soul after his mind deteriorated away.

The only reason this boss fight is creepy to me is because the sound effects in the background remind me of what Giygas will eventually become...

No, this is the wrong game, Search for this:
Earthbound Giygas battle.
Then you'll see why that battle is so creepy, not this one.
