  • i think the coast guard looks at your records of aviation before you fly for them. i know the top pilots of the military fly for them. yes you can go to the coast guard academy or go to an aviation school but it also depends on your grades from thoughs schools (including highschool) and which aviation school you graduate from. one school i recommend is Embry Riddle in Daytona, Fl or their other campus in AZ. i dont know this stuff for sure but it makes sense.

  • To be a USCG pilot do you need to have been in the USAF or Navy, or can you have a degree in aviation? I'm thinking of going to the University of Minnesota and getting a degree in Aviation and joining the coast guard.

  • You pretty much have to go the Coast Guard Academy. They don't offer ROTC or anything. Its really stupid. I don't know whats wrong with coast guard. You have a better chance of being a helicopter pilot in the Army than the coast guard. Much better chance.

  • Cool video, do you need to attend the Coast Guard Academy to apply to be a pilot? Or can you have a 4 year degree from a civilian university?

    Thanks.

  • @bigbigblue111, i dont think they have coast guard rotc, as far as I know you either have the academy or go through basics and go through officer training school
