  • Cant WAIT for the 150th!.....All these 150ths will be like reenactors versions of woodstock! Anyone who still has their gear that used to reenact will be coming back out, anyone who still reenacts will obviously go out , and there will be a surge of new comers! • How in God's green earth can a video of a civil war reenactment trigger such vulgarity and name-calling?

  • @logibear64 People just resort to name-calling when they're at a loss as to what to say. Lack of intelligent response? lol

  • Comment removed

  • Thank youuu!!! Some sense :)

  • Okay I'm gone try and say this in a nicer way. I reenact, I'm a blue belly, but the North and South raped and pillage, while yes the north did it a little more that's because they were invading and invaders tend to hurt more civilians.

And the history book is very correct it just told the story through the north's eyes. And that's only because they won. And sorry to anyone I offende earlier just kinda angry at the single minded debaters who won't let both sides talk.

  • @BurntDogProductions The winner writes the history.

  • What Regiment ?

  • Kidding about what?

    Great vid and awsome event

    CPL

    7th Ohio Infantry

  • i didnt wana see some dam renactment

  • then why did you click on a video that said reenactment in the title? Dumb shit.

  • one of the turning points in the war that help set the stage in later years for the south surrendering was when Stonewall Jackson and some of his staff were shot by mistake by there own men. They were out trying to find the yankee lines in the woods during a battle and were mistaken for yankee riders. Stonewall did not die that day but he died of pneumonia while lying in a bed recovering. The south never did find a leader of that caliber to replace him

  • yankees r the best! fuck them hill billy confederates!

  • U yanks should of left us alone. THE SOUTH WAS RIGHT IN 1861 BECUASE AMERICA WAS RIGHT IN 1776!

  • so ur saying we should still be under english control

  • No im saying The south had all the right reasons. 94 percdnt of confederates did not own slaves.

  • finally someone with some common sense.......thank you bluemoonproductions

  • well ASSHOLE, ID LOVE TO GET A FUCKING JOB. BUT IM 13 FUCKING YEARS OLD. DUMB FUCKIN IDIOT. FOR NOW IM STUCK BABBYSITTING. FUCKKK YOU!!!

  • Really? Because your profile says you're 18. If you have your birth certificate, you might be able to calculate your age by subtracting the four-digit number that appears on that document from 2009. Hopefully you paid more attention in math class than english class.

  • Really? Well I am aware opf that! And I am also aware that my page syas im 18! Ya FUCK! THATS SO I CAN VIEW ANY VIDS THAT ARE "INAPROPRIATE" Whata dumb fuck you are! Trying to be all cool and show me up. Shut the fuck up dude and dont talk to me.

  • Fuck yanks, theyre terrorizers!!

  • you really need to work on your speach...and not saying fuck on every other word....im a union reenactor...go take your immaturity to a group of people that care...why do you rednecks think that "yanks are terrorizers?" durring the gettysburg campaign the rebs raped and pillaged every thing...on the way up and back...so pick up a good history book...not your school text book allmost every thing on the civil war is wronge in them...so go and get a real on before you start calling them terroist

  • First off im going start out with the whole "Rebs" raping and pillaging campaign on gettysburg.\. That was the confederates only invasion of the north. THE ENTIRE WAR THE NORTH WAS INVADING THE SOUTH. The whole war yanks RAPED AND PILLAGED the south. So dont say we raped and pillaged as if you didnt. And im not a redneck, im a 13 year old confederate reenactor/ history buff. I will call them terrorist from what ive read about them.

  • @Bigmoonproductions The Confederates attempted a second invasion during the Antietam Campaign.

  • @Bigmoonproductions Score Board reads: North - 1 South - 0. No matter how boil water it's still boiling water and no matter how you look at the Civil War, it was about maintaing the institution of slavery. If that's not the case, why did NBF act the ay he did?

  • I love reenacting! I went to the 140th in '02 and got to play in the Fife and Drum Corps. Vermont militia wore grey so we all got our grey uniforms and when our leader became brigade commander he was shot by his own line for it... lol! Unfortunately, just as I got old enough to weild a gun, we stoped going to regular events (now just parades). I hope someday to get out to the events again as History is my LIFE. It has always been a part of me and can't wait until the glorious day comes.

  • Typo... it was back in '01.

  • that was not the irish brigade. the irish brigade came at the battle of antietam

  • that's right. i do believe that we didn't start seeing combat from the irish until antietam where they were sadly obliviated at the sunken road. then the same thing (almost) happened to them at fredericksburg. then they fought to the last at gettysburg. you're got to admit, the boys had heart and faith in their leaders. they kept fighting through all of those. it saddens me.

    pvt. chase osborne

6th ohio volunteer infantry, co. a

  • the thing is i belive the Confederates should have won but that does not mean I don't respect some of those Yankees that Irish birgade were tough! My scources say they did not get abbliterated but abliterated the Confederates at sunken road.

  • Manassas was an interesting battle due to the fact that the pectators got a run for their money.

  • Ape Lincoln: President of the "United" States? The states weren't united during his term: 1861-5. He didn't receive a single electoral vote from the future Southern Confederacy in the election of 1860.

  • I wasn't at this, but I just signed up with the 28 NY volunteer infantry. By the way, at the beginning, that green flag, was that the irish brigade or no?

  • damn this is cool, showes pride in your history to reenact these battles

  • My family was there. My son and I fell in with the 105th PA. We had a total blast (pun intended). Especially interesting was the 5 minute rain shower at the start of the battle and the infantry forming square at the end. Had a great time. This was a beautiful venue for a battle since you could see all across the field. I sure do miss the big battles (gas prices and all). Good video. brought back memories.

  • i was with the 1st arkansas ifantry stonewall birgade remeber we came over the hill shouting that rebel yell

  • Do you know a group called 12th Texas Volunteer Infatry, Im goin to be in that group as a powder monkey and do you keep reenacting when it rains, no thunder or lightning

  • Way to march in step while parading...

  • The song at 2:50 is the Boondock Saints Theme.

What I can't get is tjhe music that starts at 4:45 on. Especially that at 7:24 to the end.

  • what song is around 2:50 i know its from braveheart i think isnt it like some song called "The Legend Spreads" ?

  • the song at the beginning from the movie gettysburg is FIFE and GUNS by Randy Edelman. Good job very nicely done

  • see the quality of the typical reenactor. another example of how you insult history

  • Well, not all troops in the civil war got the proper uniform. More often then not, they had to use what they had from home.

  • you insult the spirits of the soldiers but as long as it gets you out of your moms basement and gives you a shot at a little boy on Stuarts Hill you care not

  • God...I remember this one, I was helping with Medical because they were low on people...

Started marching out...and Wam right when we got onto the field it poured for 2 minutes, then Wam went away, sun out, 100*+...but over all a nice battle...then Major Golding fell off his horse (My company loved it...a lot of people kinda dont like him) and made a 45 minute break...

  • that was awesome, I didn't see one overweight re-enactor out there on the field. Usually it's the first obvious thing you pick out at the HUGE farb fests.

  • The Confederate losses at Gettysburg if taken in proportion to todays USA population would have ben over 1.5 million, to say nothing of Vicksburg and Port Hudson (what a month). Its to serious for you children to play silly games about.

  • were you even here for this reenactment? i was in it, and there were casualties, just not many because the ground was all muddy after it stormed for a few days before the reenactment. havlocks were worn during the battle, hence we wore them. and yes, its just a reenactment. reenactments are for fun doing something we are passionate about, that doesn't mean we have to recreate every single small minuscule detail. To bad this was one of the best reenactments ive been in

  • how many day did it rain i am with teh 105th O.V.I and when we went to attedom this year and it rained all night on fri and that night i had provost duty

and are you going to the 145th gettysburg battle this comming july

  • i can't wait till 145th gettysburg... are you doing anders or something else???

  • ufelcher. it's a freakin reenactment it's not supposed to be perfect.

  • ufelcher if you don't do this you can't do this for more than a week i am a reenactor i i have pide i what i do because. it is fun and i like reenacting history

  • but not all the company as we called them. look like that. it represent where thay are from and how we can tell what company they are from. and we are not insultingly them we help them acullly. why you ask? because we can bring the spectator back 145 years ago nd we can tell them how it is like and how they fought.

  • why dont you get your bottom ribs removed so you can suck your own dick like you always wanted to!!! CW reenacting is fun, and you better fucking get used to it cuz its not stopping anytime soon!! and if you have an opinion like that one KEEP IT TO YOUR OWN MOTHERFUCKING SELF!!!!

  • Mars Robert wouldnt have used such language. Perhaps you are reenacting a phrase uttered by Joe Hooker

  • what chapter of NAMBLA sponsors your group?

  • i was there 3rd arkansas vols comp. B

  • We posted some Zoar footage from a couple of weeks ago. We're getting ready for Cedar Creek next week. We'll be loading up the cannons the 18th and heading out Fri the 19th. We'll post as much as possible when we get back.

  • Yep me too were you there? What Regament?

  • Zoar Ohio this weekend. Big event, lots of fun!

  • I hope the Yanks have their running shoes on in this battle.

  • I love these massive reenactments.

  • get them Yankees

  • Thank you to everyone involved in this event/reenactment and vid production. It's fantastic for Tourists I can tell you, kind of like a Living History.

  • ok i did get the details... 24th of august.. next week ... manassas battle field (i'm still not sure but yeah...)

  • aaahhh ceder creek/belle grove plantation.. great place to hold a reenactment... we did 2nd winchester/kernstown.. but the only problem was that it was hot as hell out there.. we lost about 3/4 of our guys on the march from the woods to the battle field.. then on the second day (kernstown) we only had a little less than 1/2 of the men we had the first day...

  • Great editing!

  • yeah why dont you shut the fuck up and leave us the hell alone

  • Your a geek, shut up

  • Hahahahaaha, what a bunch of geeks. ^^

  • scotlandthunder you make very good videos.

  • Nice compilation of your footage from the event. We were there and enjoyed the event. 45th Illinois

  • what is the name of the song played at 2:41... when they open ranks. Its a very nice song.

  • its the theme to the movie boondock saints.

  • Thank you. Sorry it took solong for me to get back to it. There's other music to it though. Did any of it come from the movie "Crimson Tide"? Some came from "Gettysburg" I'm sure, but I can't place the others.

  • Dude i was here and the 5th Ohio Co H did the best by far lol

  • 45th illinois here lol u know its funny how i got cought up in this my teacher said if i do it i get extra credit but i never did and i love doing it now

  • What is the 4th Song in the video?

    Great Video. Love the music.

  • "You suck..."

With a message like that there's no need to try to prove your not retarded.

  • I didn't get to do Cedar Creek this past year. I can't wait to do this re-enactment this October.

  • Great video!

  • At 8:15 you can see some of the reenactors from my unit

  • Actually at 7:45.

  • they are kind of outnumbered by the group they attack... xD Nice uniforms btw

  • Scotland I think was portraying the confederates in this video. He switches off between Union and Conferdates every year. I did a re-enacment against him in Ridley Creek. He walked on as a Union soldier for that re-enactment.

  • yup I galvanize. I do both Union and Confederates. more fun that way.

  • Omg look at their flags... definately union..the uniforms are a bit strange, but thats how some looked at the beginning of the war. at manassas XD

  • After that I'll use my bayonet.

  • Robbie S45, I shove my 69cal. Smoothbore up your ass

  • O yea. I knew I heard it before.

  • What are you talking about? That whole post was compleatly useless. It had nothing to do with whatever you were blabbering about. This is about re-enacting and not the millitary today. You are one sad idiot.

  • k

  • Does anyone know the name of the second main song that comes on? its a celtic tune that ive heard before, but i cant remember.

  • theme song for boondock saints....

  • Ignorant fool. We relive history by doing re-enacments. We don't want to go to Iraq and get killed by some sand niggers. If we wanted would but we're not that stupid.

  • You're the ignorant fool. I always understood one of the purposes of re-enacting to be honoring those people who fought, yet you call them stupid because they risked their lives for their cause. Yes, you were refering to those of us in the military today as stupid, but what we do today is no different than what those men did back in the 1860's.

  • And if you think putting on a costume and firing an empty weapon means that you understand in any way what it means to fight a war or experience combat, you're even more ignorant than I initially thought. That's not a slam at re-enacting though. I think it's a pretty neat hobby. I'm referring to you and you alone, slick.

  • for one thing people dont just go around shooting at each other...we drill...alot to make sure no one fucks up your the ignorant one thinking your stuid commnet is really going to change anything that anyone dose in the hobbie

  • fight a real battle pussies

  • You suck...

  • The problem is the same as always. Stich counters and button pissers like grumpy dave and YukonNH think they're better then everyone else because thier uniforms are perfect and they're gear is 100% prefect. As a mainstream re-enactor I like my clothing, gear and gun. Its close enough to what the men used during the Civil War. If you button pissers want to critize me for it go a head I'll just tell you to go shove it up your arrogant butts.

  • Sadly. these farbes give reenacting a bad name. They show up to drink and fire off rounds for the weekend. They disgrace veterans and shouln't be allowed to reenact. They can't even stay in step (that's basic by the way). The only reenactors who truly are committed and want to do it the right way are the ones who know how to do it.

PS: I'm a Union and Confederate campaigner reenactor.

  • i completly support what you say. i reenact the 24th michigan infantry, and were dedicated to completely historicly acruate portrayls.

  • I just wanna know why those guys who were supposedly the 69th NY had no coats.

  • @milo1047 both at the reenactment and the actual battle the 69th NYS Militia was allowed to take off their coats because of the heat

  • I was there, had a blast. Cant what for the 150 thanks for showing everyone fun I was in the skrimish line waiting for the union to advance for Jacksons charge

  • Good vid, nice action photos. Incorrect clothing is detracting, I agree, but for those criticizing unit's drilling, please read my comment just below this one. Also, research the New York Fire Zouaves; they were barely soldiers at that First Manassas.

  • "Those first volunteers for the Union and Confederacy were ill-prepared . . .The overwhelming majority had no military experience and little training; the most experienced of them were cadets from military schools and parade soldiers from state militia units. Many lacked weapons of any sort." (First Blood: Fort Sumter to Bull Run,p.96, Time-Life 'The Civil War'. C1983)

  • Grumpy Dave you dont know what the hell your talking about. I heard the National Regiment is the most authentic affiliation out there.

  • Hey everybody! Go to "The Pentagon" > 911 Case Study: Pentagon Flight 77 and read CivilWar1863 Post! It will knock your socks off!

  • Nice vid! I could recognise the US Marines Bn lol and JEB Stuart's cavalry lol!

  • What a hideous assault on history. It's pretty obvious most of those folks never ever read a history book let alone looked at a picture in one. Read a Civil War drill manual? Why bother, when you can just make the drill up as you go along. Just another fine example of the worst the Civil War hobby has to offer doing their best to foul up history. YEEEE HAAAWW!

  • How can you judge 7000 reenactors by looking at video of a few..Granted the unit in the beginning needed help, there were a lot of fine units on the field that day. And if the authentic community stays away from mainstream events, how will these events ever improve.

  • How about this? Do the folks who have the copywrite on that gawd awful music know it's being used on a video and posted on a public forum? Maybe they should. Authentic folks stay away from crap like Cedarnassas because they can.

  • "We" aren't missionarys and don't wish to be. Fix up your own crap, police yourself. Stop going of "for profit" events(some monies from that mess did go to Cedar Creek but monies from main stream events usually goes into someones pocket with absolutly no public accounting), and events that have no interest in anything but taking your money.

  • The C/P/H folks went to the 1st Bull Run LH on the actual battlefield. Why go to a crapola event when there was something so much better? PS, I can spot a bad hat at and obviously incorrect drill 300 yards, can you?

  • What good is your unique long distance bad hat and incorrect drill spotting ability if you don't share it with the people who need and want to change. If the authentic community made a large turn out at some of these events then the public and fellow reenactors can see the difference.

  • Well, first we aren't talking about the poor video and copywrite violation, what I was responding to was your painting with a broad stroke the authenticity of 7000 reenactors.Hmmm you aren't missionaries but you sure sound like your preaching.

  • How are mainstream reenactors going to change if they never have a chance to see the difference. And we are talking about this event in which Cedar creek is trying to raise money to keep land from being turned into a strip mine.

  • who got helped by going to a little advertised LH event. You have to go to where the public is and show them the difference in order to make the change in the hobby..
