  • Wonderful rendition. STUPENDO!

  • The song has wonderful, emotional lytrics and MARIO LANZA and many other fine tenors sang it beautifully, A great song and Mario Lanza was one of the finest singers to interpret beautiful Italian love song.

  • Truly Magnificent

  • grandissimo lanza. elio

  • Simply wonderful: the lovely song, the incomparable sweetness of his big voice , the beauty of the music.

  • Lanza sings these type of Neopolitan songs ..better then all the other great tenors

its the emotion he puts into it ..and he's American ..go figure !!

  • @MrRegoletto

hmm...hmm, yes you'e right but I would a bit differentiate, because

    he was an real "ITALIAN-AMERICAN".

  • @MrRegoletto I'd listen to del Monaco sing it before proclaiming that. I have to say this is one of the best recordings I've heard from Lanza. I still prefer that extra depth in del Monaco's voice.

  • @wiseroldfart This a recording made less than a year before Mario Lanza died; so he was somewhere around 37 years old. Lanza had already acheved some spinto depth to his voice, but he did not live as long as del Monaco.

  • @catlec39 I don't know if it had to do with how close Lanza was to the microphone, but I don't detect the volume and richness in his voice that I expect from a spinto or a dramatic. I'd have pegged him for more of a lyric, but he's not listed as one. I guess it's a matter of seeing them in person to properly gauge them. All I have to go by is his recordings.

  • Mario Lanza recorded this the year before his death in rome when he was about 37 years old. His voice had already achieved some spinto depth (he is classified as spinto tenor), but his untiely death prevented us from hearing what qualities could have been forthcoming from Mario. By the way, His recordings made in Rome after he had moved there are considered to be his finest!

  • @MrRegoletto I was under the impression he was Italo American? Very very different to WASP USA

  • Truly a gifted singer, but lacked the discipline to be the best, for he could have been the best. At times he was hard to get along with, and lived life recklessly, as his health went down hill. Mario Lanza: It was so sad that he was gone at 38, for he had so much more to offer.

  • I've yet to hear a better version. Thanks for posting )

  • this video is just beautiful stoltapura thanks so much.
