It is a powerful statement on society in general. It might be a little too intense for those of closed minds but for the rest of us it is a reality check.

I'm in a sociology class and my teachers having us watch this movie. She had us chose a character to follow and I chose the lock smith and from when the persian got angry at him I had a feeling something bad was gonna happen. Then when this started to develop the whole time in my head I just kept saying no, no ,no this can't happen. Then the gun went off and my heart dropped. I started tearing up, but then when she said "its ok daddy" I couldn't believe it. Still had tears but of joy xD.

My white friend, who has lived in the white suburbs most of his life, was in a "ghetto" part of town a few weeks ago doing some work. When he described a couple of black kids walking by him and his truck, he said "I almost got jumped!" He was completely serious, and I could sense the fear in him. Made me think of the beginning of this movie with Sandra Bullock and Ludacris.

What happened:

The night before, the Mexican man told his daughter that a fairy gave him an impenetrable cloak and gave it to her so that she wouldn't be afraid of a bullet flying through her window. The Persian hired him to fix the lock to his store, but what he really needed was a new door. The Persian couldn't speak English well, so he never got the new door and his store was destroyed.

Fortunately, the Persian's daughter purposely filled the gun with blanks.

This is a great movie and THAT is a great scene Takes you from incredible sadness to incredible elation/relief in a matter of seconds. If you didn't feel it, have someone check you for a pulse.
