No disrespect to anyone reading this, but as far as I am concerned, THIS was NASCAR. I'm old-school all the way, and I cannot get into the modern day NASCAR.
TheKassicRock, do you have any of the old Daytona 500s that ABC broadcast, either on Wide World (1963-'73), or their live broadcast from 1974, '75, or '77? (I have the 1976 broadcast and, thanks to rowdyeverylap, the 1978 Daytona 500 broadcast, as well.)
Thanks, TKR, for this splendid upload. I was absolutely thrilled to see this long race coverage instead of the usual few minutes of spectacular crashes. I am sorry that I can´t help you wtih the tennis woman, though so I guess you just have to walk slightly bent forward wearing a long coat. Since it it is Holiday season now I wish you a Merry X-mas and a Happy New Year. /Cabby with the CroVic
Does anybody know who that women's tennis player is at 0:16-0:18 is? Her thick, tanned legs and long, blonde ponytail tied in a ribbon gives me a boner. Does anybody know who she is?
This was the best luck that ABC had with its auto racing coverage in 1970. The 5 live NASCAR events were all "bombs", the live USAC races were plagued by weather, wreck delays and no excitement. This race was the best of all worlds, not live so it could be "trimmed" a little for later in the day...AND...the racing was actually pretty good.
My dad recorded the race from Nashville that year, classic footage, but it was dominated by Bobby Isaac. the 1970 USAC Phoenix race is on youtube also, i don't know how that one goes....
@TheKassicRock The 1970 Phoenix 150 was delayed by a bad wreck and ran over time. ABC stayed with the live coverage but ran out of video tape so the end of the race can't be seen.

Amazing historic footage. How many people had home video recorders in 1970?

@GracieVision Very few. They cost a fortune and were as heavy as hell.
