I totally understand getting "hungry" for ASL. I feel like there are things I can express ony in ASL (I am hearing student interpreter). I feel happier when I have a balance of ASL and English in my life. If I am all English, something is missing, and if I am all ASL, I feel somewhat "homesick". I have noticed that if I stay in the deaf community and only signng for too long, I tend to give up English, like that part in my brain that is stimulated through voiced-languages is asleep. Strange.

it is so weird.. I can have conversation hours and hours in sign.. and I only talk a little.. I rarely talk on the phone.. I text alot and i love the computer.. but I miss signinng.. in the hearing world .. I hear so many negative things.. people want to complain... After conversation I feel depleated. but when i chat with my deaf friend I am uplifted.. I feel right at home.
Wow! You are right! I totally agree! For over a year now I haven't been able to associate with Deaf/HOH like I used to and so that means much less signing, I miss it so much. I do feel the same as you and | Ale | and Shelllium. Crazy. I think those of us like this are nor the norm..because I know many many hearing who cannot sign for hours w/out being exhausted and don't want to sign anymore, I'm opposite. Too much to say on the subject, could go on for hours... but i love it.
I agree with you 100%. I get annoyed when I'm a lot of time around hearing people, I just can take a little at a a time (excluding family and friends)... but with Sign Language I don't get tired **weird hah**.
I am sure this probably upsets or frustrates many who are deaf.
I am very hard of hearing but the internet has allowed me to communicate much easier. Being hard of hearing instead of totally deaf or good hearing is like being in a no-man's land that neither extremes can understand.
Yes... that is a very difficult place to be....trying to lipread and not understanding sign... maybe you can try attending some Deaf community events or socials and make some friends with other hard of hearing who have your same experience. Take care! SH
At the present moment I am unable, but I foresee an opportunity to learn sign after I
get a ton of issues dealt with. I am losing my house and business so when those issue are out of the way and behind me, I may be able to enroll in a class. Around here we don't have any formal classes which I can afford to commute to.
IMHO, Deaf people need to be heard. My experience around the deaf is quite minimal. School wasn't easy for me.
"how to stimulate your brain with music" Takes me to this?!?!

Hi Shellium,
I am sorry but I don't understand sign.
I am sure this probably upsets or frustrates many who are deaf.
I am very hard of hearing but the internet has allowed me to communicate much easier. Being hard of hearing instead of totally deaf or good hearing is like being in a no-man's land that neither extremes can understand.
