  • can anybody tell me what is going on on 0:33 ??

  • Ok..I'm quite new to leaving comments on You-tube. I don't understand the people who rate it sometimes. Why on earth would a clip of images like this have Dislikes on it??.. National Geographic employs some of the best photographers in the world; and those that have left still have very successful careers like Joe Mcnally for example

  • @mpenny2008 Welcome to the internet.

  • Hey, i|I}f you're looking for}|wanting|in need of}| need| want} a good spot to host your pics, visit ww w. free image house . com, that's what I go to|where I go to} all the time. Nice upload!

  • Nat Geo simply doesn`t pay well enough to get the best photographers. The veterans have left . Its a sad fact.

  • knock me I am from Asian # lushfmlk.info #

  • Check out mbmarconi fine art photography...beautiful work!!!!

  • i love it!

  • Beautiful.

  • 0:34 WTF?

I love photography, digital cameras truly have revoloutionised the world

  • what im still tryin to figure out is why the hell they made photography an artform....

  • why do you think photography does not deserve to be classed as art?

  • try to make some picture like that

  • These are the things that drop me speachless. They make me feel like I know nothing about photography.

  • brilliant photographic works

  • Wish I could be pictured using that hi-tech camera! Wanted to look the details of it..

  • waw, this is very bueaty...who much?

  • 0:06-0:07 - so cute^^

  • satan \m/ :-)

  • zajebiste foto

  • 0:19 how was it taken ?

  • Thank you for your WORKS and New Era.

  • Having the eye is just the natural talent part of it. Once you have the eye or figure out you have the eye, you start experimenting with different equipment and how it effects your photos.

If I want to go for something that looks great with an old poloaroid, I go for it. If I want something that looks extremely clear and has a lot of depth, I go for a high end camera.

Having an eye is just half of photography. Different equipment develops different photos...

  • Yep. Knowing when to use the right type of equipment is very important.

  • hey nick your the man

  • put them on google image,,,

then we can all enjoy and have them as wallpapers.

  • fucking awesome picture they have!

  • omg so amazing.

i want a photography camera sooo bad but theyre too expensive. :(

  • wtf O_o..

    thats why there's jobs :P

  • Uhm, to take photos like the one's above, it takes a really expensive camera. It also takes computer programs to edit the photo to look so magnificent, which those are also expensive.

Working in today's economy, it's very hard to buy nice camera equipment. Lenses can be around 10,000 dollars sometimes!

  • Uhm..no not really 2500 USD is enough a coupla good lenses another 2 grand and a few digital cards and you are ready.

  • I said some lenses cost that much. Regardless, 4500 dollars is not something anybody I know could throw around very easily. I don't see where your point lies.

  • You can buy a camera for $300 and take pictures.

  • @seka1986

Absolutely you can, but to do what the guys above do and to really get the picture you WANT it takes money.

This is my point. I have a Nikon D40 and I take as great of pictures as I can with it, I have a picture or two posted as a background in some of my videos. Having had the D40 for three years now, I'm craving something else. I'd still use my Nikon for some things, but there are pictures I can't take with my D40 and some limitations.

Lenses are the most expensive though.

  • @brianwildemusic why does it have the @ message wierd

  • @thejustinl1

I don't know for sure, but I think it's something Youtube is trying so people know who's replying to who.

  • Not true... film is still better then digital, and you can get a pro-level film camera for less then $100 on the used market.

  • However, the film in the long run can be expensive, not to mention the developing equipment and enlargers. It can add up really fast. It can also take up huge amounts of space.

Don't get me wrong, I still use film cameras for more fine art related images, but the prices still add up quickly.

  • Uhm... film is not better than digital, haha.

It may be more fun and rewarding as a process, but not BETTER than digital.

  • Cool! absolutely gorgeous...

  • Microsoft really wants their customers back :P Hate the ads; Love digital cameras ^^

  • those photos are absolutely gorgeous...

  • Wow! COOL!

  • awesome !!! O_O

  • cool. that dude who invented the digital camera Steve Sasson is probably rich as heck. I would like to work with him.

  • id love to be a photographer for natgeo!

  • Imagine how much costs a professional camera to take this photos.

  • I got a professional level Nikon SLR for $300. Great camera, widely considered one of the best cameras ever made, a Nikon F3. I know that people like digital, but you can do things on film that you just can't on digital. The quality of a good black and white film has a very different feel to it than a digital made to look B&W. (I admit that some color film has its short comings though) Still, a good film camera can get you far. Just look at Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, or Robert Capa.

  • Pah-lee-ze !!!! cartier bresson's pictures are just "meh" , people just got caught up in the upper class photography thing.

  • Believe it or not, the taxes here in Brazil are so heavy that a Nikon D40 SLR costs more than $ 1000 and an SLR D200 costs over $ 2500. So I asked them the price, $ 300 is very cheap if compared with the prices charged here.

And thanks for explaining me. ;)

  • Great choice, you should give medium format film a try... a 6x7 negative makes even the most expensive digital photos look horrible.

  • Though, it is still pretty expensive to work in film, especially if you live out in the middle of no where.

  • prelepe slike

  • are some of this pictures real or fake

  • Album mais que perfeito!! lindooooo

  • bill murray?

  • 0:19 is it a dead girl?

  • I guess she is standing on wood.

  • :O

i didn't pay attention to it...

    tnx

  • You wish!

  • It appears to be a girl standing on a walled peg. I could be wrong though.

  • she's standing on the wooden poles that stick out, like the ones near her head, to the left/right.

  • yeah, i saw it better after... tnx

  • bad ranking..

  • d+ essas fotos

  • How do I get to become a National Geographic Photographer? It's like any other job where you give a resume and a portfolio or there's any other kind of erm... test?

  • You have to take exceptional pictures and then get noticed for it.

  • I'm so buying this book!

  • Great info on the invention of digital camera and the images are amazing too

  • photos should tell a story weather its good or bad a photo should also be unbiasd in nature so that other people can chose weather they like the image in the photo or not

  • Some photos are great.:)

  • 0:20, did that girl levitate?

  • nahh, she's just standing on top of a pole sticking in the wall. like the one on the upper right and left of the house.

  • exactly what i was wondering.

  • nicely done

    good work

  • VERY GOOD!

  • Too bad most images have been edited in photoshop to look better these days.

  • I dont think NG photos are photoshoped...

  • they are surely photoshoped, just like any professional image, but they keep the realistic view.

  • They do edit the quality of the pictures and the tone of colouring

  • Yes, they do, although sometimes it comes out like that...

  • exceptional footage and real sound

    very memorble pictures..

all our care love and respect

  • And it makes me sick that this power and valuable tool is being wasted by the younger generation for sleezy Myspace pics. HAHA

  • if i had it all to do over again... i would be a photographer...

  • may I know what tribe is that at 2:01? anybody?

  • that is the maka muaiai tribe orginated and started in 500 bc and still livng in new zealand

  • That's nonsense. I don't know where the people in the photo originate from but I can guarantee you they do not have an historical or ancestral connection to New Zealand.

  • you're an idiot. If someone ask's a genuine question try and give a genuine answer. If you want to just open your mouth and bullshit than at least have the courtesy to say that your answer was a joke. If you don't know the answer you should just shut up.

  • I love NGC's photos since I was in high school.

  • wow ! beautiful pictures ;)

  • Great photos! I love this video!

  • congratulations for the movie, i enjoyed it

  • 2:09 - 2:10 my fav!

  • wow! stunning beauty! seriously beautiful wow wow wow

  • Very inspiring....thumbs up for Nat Geo.

  • Digital has indeed opened a whole new era for photographers. Gone is the roll of film that had to be processed, so that you could see, the next day, that the ONE perfect shot on the roll was misfocused, or overexposed, or miscomposed. After it was too late to go back and shoot it again.

I couldn't begin to count the "almost perfect" failures I've taken in my life that I could've MADE perfect if I'd seen them right then and made that one little adjustment. Now we can.

  • I understand what you are saying. But coming from my perspective (one who is not that enthralled by the digital revolution in film media yet is being dragged kicking and screaming into it) I still love the spontaneity of film. The waiting process is not a drag for me. It is like waiting for xmas day. And sometimes, those mistakes you refer to have actually given me some of my greatest images. I understand the digital revolution and its value. But film still hold a majesty for me.

  • Wow unbelievable

  • When I was a kid we had a subscription to National Geographic. We all read it and sometimes argued over who got to open our clean pristine copy and see the most beautiful photos of the world. That was a ticket out of the Midwest for a few short hours. That is until my brother or sister snatched it from me! LOL

  • @chopin65 - I too was a midwestern (farm) kid who discovered the world via the National Geographic. And I didn't just look at the pictures of the bare-breasted tribal women... honest... I swear!

  • i did lol

  • Green4321- ; ) I believe you, honest, I do!

  • I wish I could work for Nat Geo... I wish I could be good enough to work for them The pictures those photographers take are amazing. the things they see are increadible and once in a life time on occasion!

  • 2:07 evil monkey

  • TOTAL RESPECT for the photographers who work with Nat. Geographic... just amazing!

  • Beautiful pictures

  • I guess I hadn't really thought about how digital photography has changed our lives. Posting 40 photos from a weekend party on facebook would have been almost impossible 15 years ago (if facebook existed back then, of course). Sometimes I think the casual photos are the best and are the most telling.

  • Casually passed out on the couch with 40 empty beers nearby and an overflowing vomit bucket.

  • 02:04

    HOLY CRAP WTF IS THAT

  • woops pardon, I meant 02:03 ^_^

  • that looks like a close up picture of some kind of 'cell'...seeing it reminds me of the onion cell that I had to look at in bio class...~_~;;;

  • lol. i did that last week!

  • wow amazing pictures..

  • i work at australain geographics and we sell this magazine. its beautiful!

  • The first time I picked up a digital camera, it was the start of something big for me. I have quite a bit of talent. I plan on being a nature photographer when I'm older.

  • What the fuck is your problem douche bag? Get a fuckin life and mind your goddamn business.

  • Why do republicans HATE National Geographic?

  • mmmm pictures :) I think I like the sense of sight the best. It's awesome.

  • Beautiful

  • lol it looks like everyone here in the comments are nerds of photography hahah idk shit ! of what u guys are talking about

  • good

  • Sean, there are already 21mpix 35 mm digitala, cannon and nikon do them.

  • Amazing photographs!

  • man they must be using 500mm lenses.

  • Digital is great in some regards, but it will never attain the quality of film. A typical 35mm film camera (small in the pro world) is equivalent to 25 mp digital camera.

  • @sean9820 I think those pictures did a good job. I doubt film will beat digital when it comes to top of the line cameras.

  • Don't get me wrong, digital provides a very convenient way to capture images, I'm just pointing out that film is the mother of all photography and digital should never get more credit that film.

Another example, a typical 4x5 large format film camera (used for pros) is equivalent to 100 mega pixels!!!

  • @sean9820 They switched to a lot of new technologies too early. I have never actually seen a 100 megapixel digital camera. Also, in many ways VHS's are better than DVD's (not sure about Blu-Ray).

  • wtf are you talking about?

the only diffrence between VHS, DVD, CD, BLu-RAY is the the way its stored.

meaning blu-ray readers/writers have a way smaller laser than DVD or CD and thus can contain huge amount of data.

it has nothing todo with pictures... besides digital cameras hold SD cards. wjhich have speeds as high(er) as 25mb/s thats why you can take pictures fast with high quality.

  • That's the basic difference, but each has its own quirks. A DVD player doesn't last NEARLY as long as a VHS one, DVD's (especially Blu-Rays) are very overpriced, DVD's are prone to scratching while a tape can be left out with no problems, and tapes don't freeze up unless something is wrong with the film. Obviously, DVD's have many advantages, but they could have taken more time to perfect these flaws. Also, Blu-Ray discs load faster and have a plastic coating so they last much longer [cont.]

  • [cont.] I agree that digital cameras are much better with the same output, there's just no question. Overall, I prefer digital media a lot more than analog, but there are just some things that digital can't do yet. Given time (probably not long at the rate of technology today), I believe they will address all of those issues. Then comes Skynet :)

  • yeah but a digital camera of that size would outperform a film camera any time. so your point exactly fails

  • Hmm well considering no digital camera exists that exceeds the performance of a 35mm small format film camera, your point fails.

  • great pics

  • that is like some visual orgasm there. =:]

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • SOO CLEEARRR =O

  • oh national geographic I love you since my childhood

  • I was just looking stuff up on photojournalism, this just encourages me to want to do it even more.

  • Oh joy, I can watch a fucking National Geographic video. Too bad I can't watch the other 8 million videos that I want to see because of some BULLSHIT "This video is not available in your country due to copyright restrictions"

Colonizing Mars? That looks like an awesome video! TOO BAD I CAN'T FUCKING WATCH IT!

GET YOUR FUCKING SHIT TOGETHER NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC! I LIVE IN CANADA, NOT THE FREAKING MOON! I SHOULD BE ABLE TO WATCH YOUR VIDEOS LIKE ANYONE ELSE! JESUS!

  • You could try using a proxy that has an american identity.

  • I have that issue with cnn on youtube .I can watch them on television, but i can't on a public internet site and there from my own country. Not that I really care for cnn,but you get what I mean.

  • Why don't you just move to america?

Just kidding, yeah that is annoying as hell.

  • I preferred the old days when the photographer had to make the bear stay still for an hour in order for the photograph to develop.

  • lol.

  • what about the bears! WHAT ABOUT THE BEARS! They have feelings too!. lol im just kidding but seriously making a bear stand for an hour...thats pretty much why they made digital cameras

  • beautiful

  • i read this as "A New Era in Pornography"

  • Lol someone's horny.

  • stunning pictures. but I dont agree that future is digital. future is analog as well. Just like Mr Sasson said:"imaging is not about technology. it is about pictures."

  • along with time magazine i think national geographic has some incredible images.

  • Stunning pictures!

  • ¡excelentes fotos!

  • As usual NatGeo has the best photos.

  • i want to be a national geographic photographer >:[

  • wow that's amazing.

  • What *is* going on at 0:19??

  • lol she's standing on a stick thats coming out of the wall

  • what's going on at 0:19 ?
