This is an EXCELLENT video. Thank you so much for explaining how to use this delightful, high quality little camera.Your tutorial is waaay better than trying to make sense of the instruction booklet. I'm a cyclist & this is great for downhill descents...as long as the road isn't too bumpy :). Fun for videoing our pets too. Thanks for taking the time to construct your video for laymen/women like me. Much appreciated.

Is there an auto exposure on the camera ? I mean, if i point it to the sun, does it "dark" the video or is it a fixed exposition ?

@darkgilson Oh yes, very good auto exposure. It works reasonably well indoors as well, though good light gives better results. The only real problem with them is they aren't very good with browns and greens and they colour hunts sometimes.

@bobflyman Thank you. A friend of me had bought the old generation of this cam (not HD) and it was pretty bad in high lights. I think I'll buy this one and attach it on a glider's wing next summer. Be sure I'll upload a video :) Yours in paraglider helped me to make my choice. Thank you !

@Goair18 Was just thinking, these are very small cameras and you have to hold them very steady and pan slowly as with any video camera? If your hand is shaky you will get jerky video?

Few weeks ago I bought the HD camera and got a problem with it.

I bought a kingston microsdhc class 4 8gb card for it. The card works fine, the camera is able to make pictures(stills) and save them on my card, but when I try to capture video, the camera doesn't reacts anymore...

The camera isn't able to capture any video, I get the three quick flashes when I press the button, but when I press it again, the camera doesn't do anything..

Do you maybe know what is wrong?

and i recommend to cover up the lens with tape when wearing it in pocket.

@invension > Absolutely right. I always keep my mini dv's in a plastic bubble wrap bag when not in use. Such a small lense won't tolerate dust and dirt. I look after my phone camera lense the same way with a small plastic flap over the lense.

@bobflyman And i also use the same tape to cover up the mic hole when riding a bike or using the cam on a windy day. i made my first test video yesterday, quality is amazing.

There are some crappy copies around so I wouyld buy from them or one of the other good suppliers on RC Groups dot com

@dburford9 As far as drivers go, you only need it if you want to use it as a web cam (but with no sound that way.) A pc or mac should just see it as an external drive I think?

@dburford9 The best standard def cam was the type 3 which is no longer available. Google Chuck Lohrs web site, which has masses of info on the old standard cam. There are loads of duff ones which produce very poor video out now. Your best bet is to wait the two weeks and get an HD from a recommended supplier on rc groups I'd say. RC Groups list 4 or so reliable suppliers. As far as some of the other clones, they are discussed on Chuck Lohrs site and a lot of them also give very poor results.

They list a few recommended suppliers that sell 'good' cams. There are fakes about. I bought from power gps on e bay. If you look at the start of the rc groups thread in the FAQ's there may be some clue as to how to kick the cam in to life.

@dburford9 Bloody hell, you sound like you have been very unlucky. Did you look at the RC Groups thread to see if anyone has a cure for the no charge problem. Did you try other usb cables? Where did you buy your cameras from? Most suppliers will replace them if they die. I had a bout 3 or 4 of the old key chain type 3 and only had one that recorded striped and bad video. The vendor sent me another free of charge.

@dburford9 Gold contacts should be upwards. It won't go the other way unless you force it. A gentle push and it should click in. Hope you manage to fix the camera.

Just ordered a #11 from eBay by seller hxelepro360 who was listed as a top seller for his product as well as his customer service from the RCGroup.com forums. Are you able to use a 2GB micro SD card like the other version spy cams? If not what GB micro SD card do you suggest? Thanks again, f.y.i. I paid $39.95 USD & he offered free shipping

@rcoconut I've actually got a class 4 8 gig card in mine , but unless you use an external power source, the best you will get from the internal battery is a 50 mins, or 4 gig. There are methods discussed on the RCgroup for adding external power.

@fishycomics Some e bayers describe their mini dv's as HD when they aren't in fact. The ones that specify 720P High Definition Video 1280x720 H.264 30fps .mov should be genuine HD?
