Since Tchaikovsky used the Russian Orthodox hymn "God Preserve Thy People" at the beginning, Russian folk songs throughout, and "God Save the Czar" at the end, it is only natural that a version with chorus should be used (Very effectively I might add).
@mm1232akaknight Yes it is. It was actually included in the piece by Tschaikovsky himself. The ouverture celebrates the defense of Moscow by the French invasion of the Napoleonic troups. You hear the charge of the French through the Marseillaise and the Russian counterstrike through the final cannon shots and the march.
@ToniSoadMix It is the time of underachievers and retarded people... Those who can not success in anything, now have the bravery to sell their bodies easily and so be succesful...
@SirBabafingo I couldn't have said it better myself. Talent these days get you nowhere, but if you take off your clothes you're a star... It's so stupid I don't even know where to begin!
Is the chorus in italian?

me acuerdo cuando lo cantamos en frutillar (chile) muy buena obertura y a mi gusto tambien es mejor con el coro que solo la orquesta

Zubin Mehta OWNS the 1812 Overture. It turns out great no matter which orchestra he uses.
I'm most used to L.A. Phil, but you can hardly tell the difference!
