These are solid, tough, and dependable cars. They are not designed to be fast off the line. Highway acceleration is good. They have enough HP to get the job done. RIP Panther Platforms.
Damn im tooo scared to put my pedal anywhere near the floor at the moment lol. Just bout me a 93 ls thinkin bout replaacing the trans... Nothings wrong with it just want something with less than 160k miles you know? Hows this thing holding against time???
I dont know if some of the people that responded realized that there was like a 3 second lag before you took off. and why is the gear selector showing 1rst?
Grand marquis are beast. I got a 98 that i got for 2400 156 thou on the engine. Full leather, air ride suspension. These are the shiznit. Best part about em, you dont think there fast until someone floors there car then you do and you whoope there ass. I like to race on highway, marquis has great 60 to what ever times. Thanks for the video!
Your engine was running hot for the winter. The needle should be horizontal when warmed up. My 95 is horizontal even in summer when I have enough coolant in it.
Thats a real 0-90 run since the Grand Marquis/Crown Vics speedos are calibrated with the car's actual speed. It is not inaccurate as like most cars speedos that read 3-5 mph more than what the car actually goes. Try it with a GPS.
some are better than others, it's not so much the engine, it's the gearing. Ford offered a slower gearing packaged which is makes some them slower off the line and some of them faster.
thats not true at all. a lot of them had 3.08's and the 'handling and performance package' had 3.27's, those cars are identified by there factory dual exhaust and there 16 inch lacy wheels (like my 97).
the box ones had 3.08's, i checked the codes again for the doors and ive been reading them wrong all the time. also, 16 inch post big break era were all performance package ones. Now there standard, i was thinking in the past sorry about that. I have a 97 hpp it has 3.27's and 16 inch torq thrusts, came stock with 16 inch honeycomb wheels.
lol, all these Crown Vic/Grand Marq/Town Cars kill themselves getting going. I don't see why Ford put the weak ass version of the 4.6 in them. The Marauder shouldn't be the only one that gets the stronger 4.6...
I should try that with my Vic. It has the Handling Package, so there are 3:55 rears. But around here, despite high taxes, the roads are awful and there aren't any real good long, smooth roads devoid of Camrys and Priuses...
@chevyblows2001 IF THIS IS ABOUT MY AVERAGE MPG THEN YOU ARE WRONG,,,,THIS IS MY MPG AVERAGE ON MY " SCANGUAGE 2 " MY CAR HAS A ASS TON OF TORQUE AND I DRIV AT AROUND 1200 AND 1500 RPM TO GET THIS MPG,,,,,MY CAR IS A 2000 WITH 60,000 MILES ON HER
Oh i get it its only one of those transmissions that if you rev too high it will shift(theoerotically that is what he wants because thats is a speed run)
When i keep my 98 GM in first, it shifts to 2nd too early. I start out in drive and shift to 2nd after it shifts if I run it that way. Mine's programmed and doesn't shift to 3rd till about 90-92mph so it's pointless to do that nowadays.
im suprised that car went 80s

Got a -93 Crown Vic. Firsth; It´s not a race car, but provides me a smoth positive acceleration. Second, it´s very cheap on repairs!
Fuel economy?. Well, it´s not extremely green, but not among the worst....My average is about 23 mp/g, which is not to bad for a car this size....
I have close to 200K on it , and it just works as any never car would!
Oh, forgot to mention that I live in Sweden, where the winter is hard on any vehicle...Got to fix the $20.00 heater before the winter comes...

i used to have a GM it will keep shifting after u hit rev limiter but if u keep it on a number it wont shift out of gear until u do

All Grand Marquis have 2.73s. The police interceptors had 3.27s and 3.55s. I'll be pulling one soon.

leafsrule16 1 year ago
@leafsrule16 i've never seen 3.08s in any grand marquis, ever. they might exist.
the 16 inch wheels are because of the brake upgrade with the 2 piston calipers in the front but the dual exhaust does indicate performance package.

if i keep it in 1st, it won't shift out of second. it lets it wind out more. it shifts too early if i let it in over drive.
