  • ...I want one

  • dat steering wheel

  • The autobox doesn't transmit the same vibration and sound up thru the center tunnel, so they feel a bit less coarse. This engine has been strong and versatile, but has never been a model of smoothness. Some testers have said it is sensitive to hard use in hot weather. But then BMW's 335i has had that problem, in spades. Check out the u-tube comparo between 335i and G37 (Motor trend, I think). Bmw had to limp home until cooled off.

  • On this track the top gear and nurbergring the regular 370Z put better times than the nismo.

  • I have a quite well-off friend who’s father just bought him a brand new Nismo. He wants to take it out to an open track day and I tested it out to make sure it wasn’t something that he would kill himself in). The handling is really nice and tight, but loose when you want it to be (just like the man in the video said). It was a little too oversteery for my preference to my STi, but way better than my Cobra (’95). But I kinda felt like if it got any more power, it’s handling would suffer a lot.

  • I always fly into the dirt on that first turn

  • To the "muscle car" haters that think they can't handle and that the Z will own them on a road course..Not so for the new breed. Tyler McQuarrie, professional driving instructor took a 370z and a 2011 mustang GT around the track @ willow springs with the SAME EXACT aftermarket Falken tires and here were the results:

    First run: (615's)

    Mustang GT: 1:26.96

    370Z: 1:27.34

    Second run:(615k's)

    Mustang GT: 1:25.89

    370Z: 1:26.57

And to quote him "a second is an eternity on this course"

  • @kbreese72 yea that was a much heavier convertible he compared to a 5.0.. im not a believer. 332 hp vs 412hp one second win

  • @hoodyman88 For the recrod I really like the 370z's...I think they are really sharp cars with decent power and very nice handling. I'm just making a point that the new mustang GT's are a different breed and actually handle quite well, especially for having a solid rear axle! It's been proven many times, including it matching a new M3 around a race course.

  • @kbreese72 "Smack is dangerous" too, it makes people bend the results!

  • "It's a very happy car" 370Z owner agrees =D

  • @xGUNxBUNNYx I agree too, also about the school bus comment.. Mine is 7 speed auto (paddle shift) and none of that coarsness exists.. I have 8,000 miles on it now, I have, however driven a few manuals and they seem to have that harsh sound to them.. ?? Not sure why.

  • The Camero freaks need to chill. First off the Nissan 370z is more of an "American" car than the Camero. The Camero is exclusively built in CANADA! And people wonder why this country is going bankrupt! Comparing these two cars is like comparing apples and oranges. the Camero has nearly 100hp on the Z and it's base model is the only one that is cheaper than the Z. I would love to see a Camero try and keep up with the Z in a road race!

  • @Zippy67roadster It's spelled Camaro, not Camero. Yeah, I know, it's only been around for 40+ years but still. LOL.

  • the camaro ss had a 105.2 i believe and the Nismo had 106.5. honestly IF he had pushed that Z harder he could have gotten atleast 105.9 lets be honest. he said the camaro understeered excessively but he says the Z creates its own drifts but he never used that to his advantage. UM WHERE'S TSUCHIYA when u NEED him. he would have gotten a 104 probably. I'd def go with the Z (i own a 06 350Z)

  • Personally I'd rather have the Cayman S but...

The Nismo 370Z track time was approx 106 seconds vs. Cayman S 103 seconds.I think it does an amazing job and comes close. And for $25k less than a Cayman S its the better buy. Unless you're a pro-race car driver like this guy in the video there probably is no substantial difference in either car.

For me, I want the Cayman S because I like the body styling more. And hopefully its a car that I can some day grow into skill-wise.

  • This is my next car... I was going with the mazda rx8, but this car looks amazing.

  • If he "drove it to the edge" like he said and "know where it would be"...why is it all over the place (like the exit from turn 4...he's all the way across the track, hitting the berms! Either this car under steers like an boat- or this guy is a worse driver at Laguna Seca than an old man from Wyoming was in a 911 Turbo S. His line into 8A and missing the apex of 8B was apalling

  • Cayman S $75k Nismo 370Z $40k Doh!

  • Wow. The Z sucked. If you watch the entire series of videos, what did the Z beat? The Miata? It was slower than the 135i, the Camaro, The Shelby GT 500, the Cayman, the Cadillac CTS-V sedan and the Jaguar XFR sedan. Really? This two seat "sports car" got beat by two 4 seater coupes and two 4 door sedans! And before you go bash me, watch the videos in my profile. I own a 370z.......

  • @ldmcnutt well you're a dumbass for buying a car that you dont like

  • @ldmcnutt and the 370z pulls almost a full g in the skid pad, (.99g), try doing that in one of those sedans. You need a ferrari enzo or similiar car to corner better than this

  • @Underlying10 yep 1.01 skidpad for 370z actually :)

  • @ldmcnutt wow nice list of 40k + cars that beat the z... and btw it beat the miata the solstice sxp the rx8 the 135i (by some review companies) the evox, the sti (around the track) the hyundai genisis and the 2010 mustang gt so dont bash it by comparing it to cars that arent in its class or price range

and as for that gt500 just go ahead and make it a 640 hp supersnake and put it against the gt-r on the 1/4 mile and on the track the gt-r (with 100 less hp) destroys it NISSAN FTW

  • When you look at sticker price 370Z touring w/ sports pkg. is more bang for the buck than Nismo or Cayman.

  • hey mr. nizmo ..this is all around competition...if u dont like american cars better than your nizmo tough.....its a fact f life these days

  • This car is fantastic! I liked the bark of the engine, what does he mean school bus?? Surprisingly quiet and smooth while racing.

  • I agree. The car drifts very smoothly. Tracking is in this cars DNA.

  • This might sound dumb, but what would a regular 370 w/sports package do on this track? I believe the standard model beats a nismo in a 1/4. Obviously has better suspension and other things then the base, but how much would a nismo beat the base w/sports package is what i was wondering? lol

  • NOBODY WANTS AMERICAN CARS ANYWAYS. ONLY OLD RETIRED DUDES WITH NO DRIVING SKILL WHATSOEVER. A DISGUSTING RED OR YELLOW CAR THAT NEVER HITS THE ROAD IN A GARAGE.

  • @SCHIZOPHRENlC dude really? please do america a favor and just go hide in a hole.

  • Brakes didn't disintegrate?

  • So much for smooth inputs, look at this guy on turn 2, he's basically jerking the steering wheel.

  • to commanderB9488 whats so bad about This! economy, the dow moved $300 yesterday and moved $300 today! not everyone works for wolly! :)))

  • to address all the ppl doing comparisions to other cars. all i gotta say to you is =DDD, great job why bother driving a car when you can race with spec sheets! =D. who cares how its feels, if the manufacturer produced spec sheets says its better it must be.

gotta say its as meaning ful as people who drag race with dynosheets. =D

  • @EnfinityX GOOD SHIT! exactly people.. realize that you are comparing heavy ass mustangs to a 33 hundred pound car.. you have the bigger engine and you have more torque and hp but sit inside a Nismo Z in a contained race track and Sit in a GT500 in a contained race track and i guarentee you will want to delete your comment about your mustang/camaro/corvette JDM have always came out on top of American rides. If German made cars werent in play JDM would hold out top positions

  • @vVvGenocidevVv what are you talking about? Japan and American car companies have always dominated with bringing affordable sport cars to the track that can compete with the germans. We ARE(japan/american) at the top. Yet, I'm going to say Nissan decided to bitches this year. The 370z stock isn't going to win a race at all. A track tuned car with no oil-cooler was just dumb. There are races where you must be completely stock and what am I going to do with a 370z?

  • @Texarmageddon I said that if there werent german cars Japan made cars would come out on top of the list of performance designed cars

  • @vVvGenocidevVv Man german cars are over-rated. Do they even make sport cars in the same price range as american/japanese sport cars? To me you can pick out a japanese or american brand that can do better for cheaper, making them the top to me already.

  • Muito louco esse carro anda muito!

  • man that guy need to breath lol look at 1:58

  • very nice car, great technology and a real drivers car

  • Why is it that every freaking video about a car there is some Corvette, Mustang or Camaro debate!? This video is about the 2010 NIssan 370z Nismo. NO one cares if you like those pony cars better than Nissan so keep your biased opinions to yourself. The 370z Nissan created the 370z and Nismo Z as sports cars people can afford and enjoy. Not everyone has $100k to drop on a fancy car especially in this economy. I can't wait till I can afford my Nismo Z. ^-^

  • @CommanderB9488 To be fair, Mustang and Camaro are on the same price range as the 370Z. The entry models for the Mustang and Camaro (not GT or SS) are actually cheaper than the 370z's entry price. And let's not forget the Hyundai Genesis coupe. Right now, it can't beast any of the existing contenders, but its worth a start. Still, the 370z is an awesome car. And the Nismo makes it even more awesome, which is not possible lol.

  • @CommanderB9488 you are such a hobo, how are you going to complain about the cost of TRUE MUSCLE cars compared to your beloved ricer (which i personally like the 370z) and you dont even have any money of your own to buy one of those cars. smh

  • As a 2004 350z owner I think the Nismo 370z is a master peace at the price of 40K, no other car comes close.

  • @luisponce11

camaros have always been slightly ahead of 350z and 370z's on the track, even in the 80's the iroc camaros beat out the nissan z31...

it's just most people view camaros as some big straight line muscle car for some reason. They came into the world in 1967 for trans am road racing, and since then they have always been used in road racing series'

  • Well I really think making more power isn't that hard. I'd like to slap a couple of turbos on this baby but since that would add lots of weight and I'd hate to ruin the balance I guess just rework the heads. and see what this baby could do.

The VQ doesn't get much love from enthusiast but its a plenty capable engine.

And besides this just the fact that this $50k car is being compared to a Porsche $2x that is already a bargain performer is a big win for Nissan.

  • yeah people forget that you can twin turbo this think and it will be faster then a skyline r35 for less $

  • @n9athan

    no they don't forget that.

People who aren't 18 year old honda civic driving fast n' furious wannabe's know it isnt true.

  • Anyone know how many miles the Nismo Z had on the engine at the time of this test? The Z's engine will make more power the more miles it has on it. These magazine reviewers sometimes use cars that aren't yet broken in. This is a respectable review and the lap time in any Z is always a reflection of the driver's limitations. The "natural drift" was only discovered by the driver and not fully utilized to get a better lap time. Any Z owner knows how well the car rotates...

  • NISMOTEC!!!!!

  • I really like this car. But the anti-Camaro/Mustang comments are ridiculous. "IF the Z had more power . . .". SO WHAT? "IF" the Ponycar had a firmer chassis it would be even faster than it is too. But that's NOT the case. They ride softer, cost less (at least in the case of Mustang GT or Camaro SS), and STILL get around the track as fast/faster than the Z.

  • the regular 370z beats the mustang gt in a drag race, so i'm sure since the 370z has a better suspension system that it'll beat it on the track. you need the gt500 to beat the z, and that costs a lot more and has 200+ more hp. camaro ss is more expensive, bigger engine, less fuel economy and isn't very much quicker.

  • @dhillskier75 not any more the 2011 gt smoke the camaro and still cheaper than the nissan full loaded

  • @dhillskier75 the camaro is better fuel economy.

  • @dhillskier75 The camaro ss is slower in the top end due to its shitty aerodynamics and bad gearing. It barely wins in the quarter but 100+ miles an hour the z will pull... I know because I have raced camaro SS's and they had me until 4th then my Z starts to haul on them.

  • @dhillskier75 See that's where you're wrong! God dammit I'm sick of this shit! You didn't even check to see if what you were saying is true. Fact: the Camaro SS cost less, is faster, has better fuel economy & I'm willing to stake my life that it's more reliable too. Stop assuming V8's are fuel hogs! That goes for all of you!

  • @bronxboyXXX it doesn't have better fuel enconomy, the EPA numbers have the 370z and edmunds did a cross country drive with the 370z and got 27+mpg cruising. 370z has ran 60's sub 5 seconds and 1/4 miles 13.5 or a little lower, both very close to the almost 100+hp camaro. 370z is made with more quality, brakes better, runs higher slalom speeds, higher G's on skidpads and has a VQ series engine, which is considered the yard stick of v6 engines.

  • @dhillskier75 The engine used in the cammero is the same as the engine used in the corvette. That engine gets 32Mpg Hwy in a corvette & 29 in the cammero.. Hell my old 95 LT1 6 speed vette gets 31 MPG Hwy. This can be confirmed by any corvette owner from the LT1 up to the LS2 (the exception being the new ZR1). The reason is because the engines make high torque at low RPMs. Don't believe me? There is a Garage419 vid were they put a vette against a Toyota Prius & it was very close.

  • @bronxboyXXX there's some differences between a corvette and a camaro such as longer gearing, much lighter car, less restrictive exhaust, better aerodynamics. the vq35 engine in the sentra is rated much higher than in the 350z. same engines don't mean shit when it comes to mpg.

  • @dhillskier75 Take Nissan's claims with a grain of salt. I'm not going to go so far as to say the Nissan is shit. I think its styled nicely. Even more so than the 911 but I have some experience with the old Z cars and can tell you that you will get what you pay for one way or the other. In the case of GM you can see it but in the case of Nissan it's what you can't see but will certainty hear about . FACT: Nissan has one of the lowest reliability ratings in the automotive industry.

  • @bronxboyXXX hahahahahah, chevy does you moron, how could nissan have the lowest while infiniti has one of the best reliability ratings

  • @dhillskier75 the 370z BARELY beat the 2010 mustang GT in a drag race. The 2011 Mustang GT's now have 100 more hp as well as better handling, so the Z loses the battle now. The mustang is also much more liveable as a daily driver with a nicer ride, back seats and feasibly driven in the snow....and don't forget 412hp M3 -like handling and 26 mpg highway.

  • @kbreese72 HAHAHA.....Did u just say the 2011 mustang handles like an M3? Hahahaha you are a pathetic dumb ass. Yes the 2011 mustang is a much better car than its previous gen. and so it handles better than the previous model, not better than an M3 you moron. Forget M3, it can't even come close to the NISMO's handling. 370 was not built for drag racing, it was built for the track where it would own the mustang in every way possible. So, go ahead and take your muscle car and shove it up ur ass.

  • @06tCdriver 06tc?? As in Scion tc?? LOL! Watch the 2011 mustang GT vs M3 MT video video and eat your ignorant words! At the test track vs the M3 the Mustang had better acceleration, better braking, better lateral acceleration, and a faster figure-8 time. Track lap time with Professional driver Randy Pobst was less then 1/10th a sec difference. Only thing "better" on the M3 was it had firmer shocks which is an easy, relatively inexpensive remedy for the stang.

  • @06tCdriver Also, you moron, I never said it handled better (although, for the record, Randy Pobst said it was better balanced then the M3). I said it had "M3-like handling" and that has been proven! So you not only need to brush up on your facts, but work on your reading comprehension as well. Of course I can't expect much from an idiotic youtube troll who drives around in a tc in the real world but pretends he's a pro on the internet when it comes to real cars which he'll probably never own.

  • @kbreese72 OK bitch, i personally don't hate the mustang, its just not as good of a car as an M3 is...quality/performance wise. Yea i do drive a tC cuz i am in college paying tuition and saving up for a 370 and faggots like you get settled with a mustang for the rest of your lives, while i actually move forward in life getting better things, which you can't even dream to afford. So, have a good life sitting in your Mustang looking at that cheap plastic wishing your ass graduated high school.

  • @06tCdriver Way to change the subject. Anyhow its every bit as good performance wise, if not better, as I've already proven to you. Quality I should certainly hope the BMW would have the edge for what it costs! And I already graduate college...You on the other hand honestly sound like a 12 year old raging on the internet like a fool. You assume too much, have bad grammar, and talk out your ass.

  • @kbreese72 Oh and since I don't own a "real" car, why don't you post a vid and show what your stupid ass is driving.

  • @06tCdriver if you must know... Daily driver is a 2009 Accord V6 Coupe (271hp) fully loaded w/Nav On order: 2012 Mustang GT premium Past cars: 2001 Corvette Z06 w/$10k in mods incl Heads/cam/intake & full exhaust 1999 Trans Am WS6 also w/about $10k in mods 1994 TA w/full exhaust 1994 Mustang GT 5.0 with heads/cam/full exhaust 1972 Chevelle SS 1987 Supra Turbo 1986 300ZX Turbo 1984 Celica GTS 1994 Mustang GT
  • @dhillskier75 as a correction the camaro IS cheaper, then the Z and fuel economy is bout the same between the two, BUT on that note no one buys a sports car and conciders fuel economy if thats your game then buy a versa or crz instead.

  • @gmracing15 yes they do, it's not like if you can afford a Z that money means nothing to you. if you drive 20,000 miles a year in a given car then every mpg saves you over $100 a year in gas.

  • @dhillskier75 Like I said if your buying a sports car with fuel economy as an important concideration, then you shouldn't buy one to begin with. Buy a civic or a focus!

  • @gmracing15 well it definitely crossed my mind when i chose a vr4 over a trans am in high school

  • @dhillskier75 Oh! Brother!

  • @gmracing15 I know lots of people that will consider fuel economy when buying a sports car more on the high school/ college student age level and used not new but it does effect the resale value. I've considered it somewhat because I want to be able to hope in my car go 500 miles and not regret it because I'd rather have a sports car I can drive ALOT but all sports cars are pretty close about 25ish mpg highway mustangs and camaros are better than Japanese for sure

  • my moms geting this in june or july

  • soccer moms car???

  • @MrJdm350z your thinking of the fat mustang

  • Comment removed

  • Just a drag car lol yea, right, you dumbass pple need too stop stereotyping, just plain ignorant. and the GT-R is no rival to these cars.

  • If the Camaro SS had 350hp like the Nismo, which one would win? it beat the Nismo by .8 second with 75hp more, if the Z had 75hp more I guarantee it would be faster than .8 second per lap. And the Shelby had 540 hp, drag cars. They win purely by power not hnadling or chassis refinement.

  • Go listen to what Pobst said. The Camaro has no business on a track, it has no feel in the steering, understeers, floats over pavement and inspires no confidence. Numbers tell 1/2 the story.

  • Yes, because the GT-R is leagues ahead of the Camaro and the Shelby Mustang. Horsepower is only half the game.

  • yeah its also leagues ahead in price its almost as much as a zr1

  • Why does everyone bring up the ZR1 but forget the ACR Viper I'm not a mopar guy or anything but I know the ACR spanks the ZR1 HARD it even beats the Enzo on the track including the Nurburgring.

And its cheaper than the ZR1

It really shows Dodge PR sucks for not pushing such a great car.

  • yeah its a great car but on the street its a pain to drive so thats why its not as advertised i mean the zr1 has a bose sound system in it

  • No think about all the changes Dodge has went through right now the company is in hands of idiots. The ZR1 is also a pain to drive around it because the suspension. The GTR is unique in that but the Nismo Z is no different than the ZR1

Which personally that doesn't bother me I wouldn't want to drive my expensive piece of pride in daily traffic and public roads full of pot holes maybe too and from track events and on weekends with good weather.

  • I agree. I own this car, the suspension is brutal in city. On the highway though, this car is wonderful. I am considering a new suspension setup just to enjoy this car wherever I go. I won't though, Auto X season starts soon!

  • the suspension of the zr1 has magnetic ride suspension which is the same found in the cts-v so its pretty comfortable your thinking of the leaf springs in the z06

  • I got trouble believing the ZR1 rides like a Caddy lolz

I know I know thats not exactly what you ment..

But anyways I'm not too sure about that I looked it up and the ZR1 chassis I saw had a composite leaf spring setup front and rear. So maybe I didn't know what I was looking at but its hard pressed to have a car that handles and rides good. Nissan did it with the GTR but the Vette doesn't have anywhere near the electronics.

  • yeah where did you look that up?

might want to look it up on chevy's website or a trusted site i know that on google if you type in zr1 under a link is a little description saying it has leaf springs but if you click on the link it says magnetic ride

  • I'm sorry I ment I looked it up when the ZR1 came out I seen it on autoblog.

Ya I seen it on Chevy's website just now.

Hey I'd welcome a ride or drive in the ZR1 anyday I'll review it no problem lolz.

  • yeah if i had the money to buy one that would be nice at least its somewhat within my reach in my lifetime

  • Honestly, the SS and Shelby beat the 370Z by out powering it. I am 100% sure that if the Z had 75hp more it would easily shave off the .8 second lead of the SS. Funny thing is the SS still placed LAST! It's a drag car with no chassis refinement.

  • You guys are full of shit i dont understand how you could compare the camero ss and the gt500 to the 370z. the gt500 well over 500 hp the camero ss well over 400 how can you compare those two beast to the Z that only has 350 hp considering the times im impressed that the Z kept up with the gt500 and the camero.

  • Lets see:

    Laguna Seca

    Shelby Mustang Cobra GT500

    1:44.3

    Chevrolet Camaro SS

    1:45.7

    Nissan Nismo 370Z

    1:46.5

  • @JellyBird12 like YOU said the nismo got smoked!

  • compare your times to the nissan GTR

    idiots in the internet

  • O? lets see, the Nismo weighs 3149lbs, and the GT500 weighs 3951, the SS weighs 3829, and you say my figures are off? maybe you outta check yoself.

  • Yes, the Nismo weighs about 800lbs less the the GT500 and 700lbs less than the SS.

  • Thats not true at all, your numbers are way off!

  • The Shelby with Stock Suspension and Hard Rubber Tires, beat the 370Z with Track Suspension, Motor Trend, Oct 09

  • Oh you mean the Shelby with 540hp, that's dynoed at over 500rwhp, vs. a car taht dynoes at 280rwhp

  • @koukicrisp

    thats almost twice the power.

  • @1vdn992 yup your right, the gt500 is set up more for both track and street use then the nismo. (set up moslty for the track) people have too relies that the stereo type of american cars the can't trun is dead, dead for a while now. guess people in general are just subborn.

  • nismo 370z is around 34000

were as the gt500 is at least 45k id say id rather have the 370z personaly but its really just what you like.

  • Yet both those cars have 75 and 150bhp more, n its beat this by a little bit, and you think thats hahah?

  • yes but this car weighs less right?

  • @JellyBird12 i don't think you understand the data correctly. 2sec. a lap at the speeds these cars are doing is HUGE only on paper the nismo lost by only a little bit, but the truth is the z got smoked by the gt500 and camaro ss

  • hahaha, Nismo version, still slower then Shelby Gt500 and Camaro SS. And who says muscle cars can't turn?... This video just proves that tuners can't turn :P

  • wow you are dumb.

  • Check the official times before posting crap. Faggot...

  • @ProTouringMopar yup all the american cars in this compare beat the japs.

  • wtf how can u compare a porche thats like 25 k more than a nismo in sound? yea if you put 25 k more in upgrades it will give you better sound than a 911 turbo.

  • Price has nothing to do with the sound of an engine... Look at a Mustang GT, about the same price as a Nismo (I think less) but it still sounds better, a lot...

  • the Z34 is ugly as shit, i prefer the Z33 plus the Z34 has a quiet exhaust which doesn't allow you to hear the amazing sound of the VQ engine...the Z33 sounds better than the Porsche

  • lol he just say they sound not the whole car be cool haha

  • 1:50 is that really the proper way to take that corner? =s

  • Yeah, this is the only problem with this car. The engine is too freaking loud.

  • Thanks to Gran Turismo 4 back in the day, I have this track memorized!

  • lol. still cant get used to the turn on need for speed shift.

  • how is NFS shift?

  • Thrilling! a very good game

  • Ok. Thanks. Are you a pilot? I have a high performance endorsement in single engine land planes. Your name sparked some interest.

  • no...........but i want to be one so badly.=(

  • oh ok. Yeah the economy makes it tough to fly.

  • the game is awsome but they could use soe more musle cars like 67 camaros 67 mustangs 69 dodge chargers and more

  • Comment removed

  • Damn I would love to trade my 350z in for the 370. I need to test the Rev-Match feature.

  • I just do not understand all the hub bub about the engine sound. I LOVE the sound! It sounds like a mean little 'race' car to me.

Cayman S = Man of War (I think was that horses name)

    Z 34 Z/NISMO = Seabiscuit

  • I understand the doubts about the Z's engine. The problem is that the exhaust is extremely quiet, does not free the sound that the Z hides. It's absurd, this GT with an engine from such a beautiful voice cannot mount an exhaust like that.

  • this is a awsome car, im just concerned about the tight suspension for the streets i hear is not enjoyable.

  • There is some merit to your concern. I would say on the large bumps like the overpass's or pot-holes on your local streets. This car can seem a bit abusive. However, it's quite rewarding on the open roads and freeways. I wouldn't say it's not enjoyable though. I find the steering sensitivity to be more frustrating than anything. But this is an awesome car. If only it were 400lbs lighter, maybe a high 12's then. The sound btw is awesome, close to v8 sound as you can get without being 1.

  • this is my second choice first is the GT500 I like both cars

  • This test driver is an annoyingly bad driver and obviously got his job from seniority alone. He misses the apex and is not a smooth driver at all.

  • yes, he is a really bad driver. i guess all those road racing championsips and wins are all fantasy huh?

  • school bus engine lmao

  • Gunzkevin the price is surely justified. I never said the GT500 was too expensive I said it's more expensive. And the GT500 unoptioned starts just below 48k. With options over 50. The nismo starts at 39k, with options just about 41. So 10k difference is just about right.

  • yeah!! nissan 370z #1 drift car

  • A bone stock Nismo Nissan 370z cost 39K, while a bone stock BMW 335i cost 40K. Why would I buy a shit box Nissan when I can get a BMW for 1K more? Also as a bonus the 335i is faster than the shit box Nissan thanks to its TT engine.

  • Randy Pobst is the man!

  • i agree with the test drvier but if it sounds like a school just fken say it sounds like an old school datsun ffs

  • umm top gear drivers suck...that's why. the 370Z was pitted against the 135 by other testers and it killed it.

for the money and in its class there is nothing that can even come close to the 370Z. in fact only one car that cost twice as much is even better-that being the vette and not by much.

  • if top gear can get the regular 370z around a track faster than the new z4 why cant they get it faster than the 135i? 370z is faster than 135i and better handling. even motortend says it...

  • the time shoud've been more around a 105. fail...

  • I have watched each of these videos and I am struck by how open minded Randy Pobst is about each of the cars he has driven. From what I have seen he has given each car a good shake and drove as close to the limit as he could. In his commentary after the lap he judges every car on it's merits. Too bad there will not be an American Top Gear, I would nominate Pobst as the 'Murican Stig. Still given the track, the cars, and the giggling that he did I cannot help but be a little jealous of him.

  • The Z has a serious handling

  • you dont know how to drive thids thing

  • lets see you drive it better than a multiple time road racing champion who has more experience on this track than you do while playing Gran Turismo.

  • Fabulous car

  • 1:45 sounds like drum roll

  • How come he didn't mention the oil overheating?

  • Are they trying to make a BMW out of it (Black/Yellow logo..)? :-D

  • They're doing that to measure telemetry and steering input from the driver, or how much he had to turn the wheel around corners.

  • What are the white circle (tic-marks?) that MotorTrend put on the steering wheel? I've noticed they've been on all of the Laguna Seca cars for this comparison. Just curious... is it for the driver or to record the amount of steering lock?

  • i was wondering the same ...

  • so you/they/us can measure steering input.

  • NISMO FTW!

  • school bus! LOL

  • nice sound!!!

  • not really feelin the nismo body kit. in my opinion, the stock body looked more aggressive but i guess the more streamline nismo body is more functional on the tracks. rest of the car is good

  • Doesn't them cameras on the outside of the car ruin the Aero Dynamics?

  • The cameras and additional testing equipment have a negligible affect on lap times. Remember, F1 cars, Indy cars & Nascars all have exterior cameras as well.

  • i think NVH is justification in saying an engine doesn't like to be revved. if it sounds like it's going to explode and fall to pieces, i'd say its not revhappy. i'm not sure but i think the g37 coupe may have a lower redline, but i could be wrong

  • The 370Z & G37 have the same power curves for HP/RPM & Torque/RPM. So their redlines should be identical if not within a few 100 RPM from each other.

  • after driving it i can stand by the opinions of NVH in the sense that at high revs the engine is a bit coarse..it still is rev happy though and i had no problem taking it to redline

  • ZR1 = 95.8 sec

    Audi R8 = 100.8 sec

    Cayman = 103 sec

    CTS-V = 103.9 sec

    GT500 = 104.3 sec

    Camaro SS = 105.7 sec

    BMW 135i = 106 sec

    370-Z (nismo) = 106.5 sec

    Miata = 112.2 sec
