Waiting For The Man was the extra track on the 10" version of Messages along with what amounts to a dub version of Messages called Taking Sides Again. It was also released as a live version (along with a version of All Wrapped Up called Wrappup) on the b-side of the 12" version of Never Turn Away the last single from the album Junk Culture.
I love the fact the OMD had no idea WFTM was about drugs when they started performing it in the early days and then apologised before playing it years later
This has always been one of my favourites. It's a b-side from a special edition version of La Femme Accident I think. If you like Junk Cultre try and get your hands on a 12" version of Never Turn Away - brilliant. I'f I had the technology I'd post it up here myself!
Your comment about versatility is so true. Where are those who were not keen on traditional instruments now? Waiting to see OMD perform with a full orchestra in Liverpool probably.
Though I will admit to loving the first 4 albums + Junk Culture a lot more than anything since.
I always loved OMD but I'm sorry, this is one of the worst cover versions I've ever heard.
