As to all of the guys arguing firefighters vs soldiers etc, you don't have to be in a paticular profession to be considered more of a hero than other people.
Sailors, Aircrew, Soldiers, Police, Medical Professionals, Firefighters, Construction workers etc, it's your actions that determine whether or not you are a hero. Not your fucking job.
Why don't we agree that both are heroes? Firefighters risk their lives running into burning buildings to save people. Soldiers spend literally years deployed away from their families, friends, pets, and conveniences we take for granted. Both groups volunteered to do what they do. In the Military when your not deployed you can see your family ALMOST every night. Tuck your kids in, Eat dinner with them. As a firefighter. You live in the station for days at a time. Go home for 2-3 days a week, Only to end up back in the station. You live in the station more than you do your family.
