I never had any of the OSM, but I had smaller knockoffs we picked up at 7-11. They were kind of like Alpha and Xodiac, and I never took a bath without them. An absolute shame series 2 didn't make it to market. Remarkable. The OSM were works of art.
@Allanfries THE OUTER SPACE MEN were primarily an East Coast phenomenon. Or, Mommy and Daddy were mean and wouldn't let you play with cool toys. Look for new OSM figures this year from OSM creator Mel Birnkrant and master designers THE FOUR HORSEMEN STUDIOS.
@hayestronaut Yeah, I asked at the local comic shop that carries action figures and they knew nothing about the re-issues. May have to try Toys R' Us. Or some of the other shops around town.
Thanks 4 the wndrful vid!--I spent 2 years in the 90's tracking down and restoring the first set, exploring the story behind them and dreaming about the 2nd set, even though they're all before my time..they're Works Of Art like it says in the interview. What a (typical) conundrum that their creator and all the materials are there but they can't be revived, life is funny that way, unkind to visionaries. Grt vid tho! Is it just a coincidence Com. Comet and Cpt. Lazer have a similar face...?
I was born in 1960,..and had both the green martian and the winged Comet,...I loved them so,..they went everywhere with me,..would just love if someone picked up this line again and reproduced them,..Id buy two of each!!!!!!!! Any chance of these figures getting made???????
I wait for the day I see these all at Newbury Comics. If they ever get reproduced, I hope the manufacturer is smart enough to do a "dead-on" cloning of the originals; including the blister cards.
My mother bought me a different one every time we went to the Bradlee's in Dennis, MA
Sadly, the whole set -- save Orbitron -- met the similar fates: firecrackers, BB guns, and magnifying-glass-death-rays. Orbitron lasted twenty-years (succumbed to Ebay) because he fluoresced so groovily under my blacklights as a teenager.
My grandmother got me the whole set on christmas of 68 or 69 . Man I loved these toys along with masons shuttle like spaceship that you could throw and it was supposed to glide and fly but would always crash tip first cousing major matt mason to pop out .
I was born in 1966 and remember having two of these figures. The winged guy and the little green martian. Although I was only two or three the stuff that you created was so imaginative and wonderful that they allowed me to have great space adventures right in my living room. THANK YOU!

@hayestronaut That might explain it, as I grew up in western Canada. I don't think many stores carried them up here, if at all.

@Allanfries Look for the re-release of these toys designed by Four Horsemen Studios and check out the OSM graphic novel I wrote on AMAZON dot Com

@hayestronaut I think not. They were very available in Sacramento CA on the West Coast. Me and my friends have a few
