@jonny8948 I THOUGHT HE WAS FROM THE ISLANDS TOO BUT AS IT TURNS OUT HE WAS BORN IN WASHINGTON DC AND RAISED IN BROOKLYN NY. THAT DOESNT MEAN HOW EVER THAT HIS PARENTS WERENT FROM THE ISLANDS.
Never heard this song before but what a wonderful voice this guy has. I especially like his version of I just dont wanna be lonely (the version I have is by The Main Ingredient)
The late great Ronnie Dyson possessed one of the great voices in the history of soul/pop music! It'll be hard to find anyone who comes close these days. His tone and soulful intensity are truly God inspired, it is a shame that much of his life was spent in sadness and despair; We live in a society that places an inordinate amount of value on looks and other surface level crap that has nothing to do with talent; and he had uch, much talent. GOD bless your spirit Ronnie Dyson!
Put pride away, fessed up & come clean and say I'm sorry, maybe just maybe that's all it will take for her to stay with you, instead of you having have to say She's gone.Beautiful song, well sung.
LOVED this young man's music. I used to wear the threads off of this one - another Ronnie Classic!. "If you let me make love to you" was also one of his best!.
The perfect voice. I am so thankful to have this album in my collection. Another beautiful angelic voice quieted too soon. God bless him and my angel who fell from heaven, Michael Jackson. May they rest and sing together in heaven forever. Can you imagine the harmony going on up there? Eddie Kendricks, Luther Vandross, Sam Cook, Jackie Wilson, Nat King Cole, Phyllis Hyman...need I go on.
I am a soulman but am ashamed to say that I only came by Ronnie by chance. I knew that there was a version of when you get right down to it that was not by the delfonics which was in my mind from a child, but I did not know who sung it. Now I know. But it has now lead me to this wonderful song. Great post and this is just stunningly beautiful. Please take a bow dadmonson the curtain and the applause are yours.
This has got to be the most beautiful love song in the history of the world! I've never heard it before, thought I had all Ronnie's music -- thank you from the bottom of my heart! Jesus could he sing...what a voice. I first heard about him when he was in HAIR on Broadway, kept hearing about his show-stopping voice. For me, it's all about the voice--every singer I know said that Ronnie's voice was the best THEY ever heard. R.I.P., Ronnie. I miss you to death, man.
Hey Iris, "Wednesday in Your Garden" is on his "His Alltime Golden Classics" album (CD) available on Amazon for just $10. Punch in "Ronnie Dyson" and all his music will pop up for you.
I saw hair in August of 1968 and when Ronnie began singing "The dawning of the Age of Aquarius" it truly rang out all over the theater. You knew you were watching something special with an extraordinary person.
The guy was amazing...he appeared on Broadway in "Hair" and in the movie "Putney Swope" (singing a HILARIOUS jingle for acne cream) before having a hit record, and he certainly made the most out of his career and all-too-brief life. God Bless, Ronnie and RIP...
Hauntingly beautiful. Who is there today who can compare? I'm still looking and listening ... he truly was one of a kind. The kind of voice that never leaves your head or your heart. Tears bigtime ...
Ronnie was a singers singer. If you were a tenor and you wanted to learn to sing in a better tenor voice, you listen to Ronnie, or pavarotti or some other natural tenor singer. Incredible voice.
@samnsky3 This is truly an eloquent simple compliment of a heroic proportion definitely matching this phenomenon of a singer- love you always Ronnie - enjoy eternity

I respect your opinion! I happen to think Johnny Mathis was the greatest "balladeer" that ever lived, but I'll give Dyson his props too!

Both are great but both take a back seat to Little Jimmie Scott. And I think both would not have a problem with it....
