  • When I saw his first video, I myself asked if it was plausible. It would appear so, the question how the suit would react when a part of you touches the ground, in reality a planes wings remain off the ground to sustain lift until the last second. I don't think it's far fetched, I see this happening within 5 years......

  • Obviously you have to slow forward airspeed somehow with an air brake or flap device built into the wingsuit. I can see this happening and its not far off.

  • "It's an idea most of us EVEN ME would consider insane" Shut up woman! your siting behind a desk talking to a camera! uuhh how scary!

  • Lol I say strap a boogie bord to his tummy and let him try to land on water first..I wouldn't think ud be able to ad much more wheight to him..

  • Matt lauer is a fag

  • I think people are seriously misjudging the speed at which you can scoot in one of these things. Shin Ito recently set a distance record and was moving close to 180 MPH in the horizontal. Now imagine using your face, chin, and stomach as skid pads to land on a ramp and eventually bring you to a stop. As they stand now, you will not land one of these and survive

  • In world war two the Russians landed paratroopers without parachutes. They would jump out into a deep snow bank. They say half of them would survive the fall. I think it was against Finland.

  • "That is not flying. That's falling with style." (Woody)

  • Roller Blades on a Mountain Pass! Ski Jumping 101.

  • HOW THE FUCK DO U LAND WITH THAT? :)

  • So what happened? This was uploaded 3 years ago. Did he make it?

  • @MarkLincolnNZ still hasn't happened yet

  • @MarkLincolnNZ He's still falling.

Turns out the Wingsuit was more effective then first thought.

Give it a few more years and he might reach the ground.

  • aim for the bushes LoL just playing you are an inspiration man

  • Did he die yet... -_-

  • Should make a great splat as the dude did into the bridge.

  • Being able to land without a chute would be legen, wait for it...DARY!!! Batman style!

  • Chutefree wingsuit? I can see wanting to BE ABLE to do a chutefree landing, but-until the concept is proven, you should attempt it in a chute-optional descent in case it doesn't look right. Being ABLE to do a chutefree landing is one thing, HAVING TO is another. I CAN see the weight advantages of such a suit, though parachutes are pretty light & unimposing these days.

  • Well, I'll be better than him! xD

  • Jeb is a dickhead

  • The wingsuit should go from wrist to ankle, that would add alot more gliding surface I would think.

  • and 6 feet from the statue-i doubt that

  • my respect to this guy,but its really impossible to land without a parashute;the guy obviously isn't competent in physics. He'd know the small surface area of the wingsuit can't make the difference

  • Add a parafoil to the wingsuit= more surface area.

  • how did this comment section turn into a war or whatever the fuck youre talking about debating

  • Hey, DbozenD and TheBattleSCAR, save your random and irrelevant side conversations for your own channels, or instant messenger or whatever. nobody else cares about whatever it is you two are debating about.

Amazing video. Hope that it happens soon.

  • I can see a great use for this. The military could use it for drops behind enemy lines, without having to fly radar-detectable planes there.

  • Wicked....

  • wait till the miliarty is doing H.A.L.O jumps with wingsuits like Jeb C. then we're all fucked. It will be fly-by shootings..

  • owh...you've have bn flied at KLCC..at my country!!

  • @staphinfection STUPID?? what the .. are you talking about? you can go with your wingsuit to a mountain and then jump and land like a fkin bird thats the most incredible thing EVER

  • The parachute has worked for decades.... why change it now?? And what are we going to do to make this practical? Put giant slides up everywhere?

Yeah, that'll be great for infiltrating enemy lines. "Hey North Korea, can you construct a couple gigantic slides in your country at these strategic locations for us? Please, thanks."

But hey, if this guy wants to risk his life to try something stupid, then by all means.

  • It needs more surface area. 3 to 1 glide ratio is unsatisfactory. More like a bat, less like a squirrel. Look at their wings: they fold like a hinge. Squirrels have tails(which help) but only glide. Bats really fly. As the glide ratio increases, it becomes more plausible. Why land on your face if you don't have to?
  • would troops go through the trouble of setting up a landing platform in an area where the enemy is already crawling, on hand ready to shoot you down?? I mean, if you can take a shot at a parra-trooper then you sure as hell should be in range to take shots or launch grenades at a troop setting a rather large landing platform.

  • Maybe using leathers like motorcycle gear, but a bit lighter..and landing in a wood runway down the hill.

something close to that is the way to land !

  • Impact?? Whatya jump, rounds?

  • If DARPA can find an application, it will happen.

  • @1st503rdSGT Of course there's an application for it.

  • @CokesnortinFreemason Ok, you're a DARPA researcher. What would do with it?

  • @1st503rdSGT Get the troops to the ground alot quicker than a parachute obviously. The faster they get to the LZ , the less chance they have of being shot down by enemy fire . With equipement (gun , ammo, etc) it might be a little harder. Drop that seperately , then meet up with it .

  • @CokesnortinFreemason Yeah ok i get it but lets like not have WAR ? and stop executions and killing ?

  • @DbozenD How dumb can people be? War is a part of human nature, stemming from greed. You can only fix that by killing the greedy motherfuckers.

  • i mean if you look at a hang glider then a wing suit in the wing suit the human body is the aircraft structure so to make the suit surface area bigger without adding much weight i think may be the key to landing this.

  • what about wing extentions from the hands get a better glide ratio and better flair maybe even could extend the tail sail with some carbon fiber stilts of some sort.

  • @CraigRidley1 gd idea

  • so it's 2 years later now.

    what's the progress?

  • @zx6rtt do you not understand what they have to do to achieve this? u cant just go out and do this...

  • @TheDakinesurfahboi

I never said they "could just go out and do this"

I simply want to know what the progress is...

    do you understand that ???

  • @zx6rtt ok im sorry i took it like you were being sarcastic

  • ur right I think to land you would just fly up before you land to slow you down but you would need to be really really percise ur going really fast and maybe you would need to fly upwards 2 or 3 times before landing sort of like bird ony birds do it on the first try but I am guessing a human with that speed would need to slow down a lot to land safely

  • All I heard in the last ten seconds was "I'm a faggot"

  • Why not mount a diagonal "runway" on the side of a fixed structure so that if the landing fails you're still high enough to use a chute?

  • well i guess a free show to some one exploding when he hits the ground

  • You guys are approaching this all wrong.

Do it the way the birds do, apply a thrust of lift just before landing to

    neutralize your velocity.

By a combination of actually flapping, with some sort of landing flaps, maybe fire some inflatable pockets with small gas canisters...

  • @peacemakersilo would you mind trying it first? :)

  • @peacemakersilo E=mc2 is the problem. Creating the type up thrust you're talking about on a 200lb man going over 100kmph and doing so using just a suit I believe is impossible.

  • I think if you dig a big hole, fill it with foam rubber, and land in it, that would work. Or maybe wear shoes that have really large springs on the bottom......

I'll think some more about this. I think I almost have it figured out.

  • he could grab a zip line if hes that accurate

  • @XxmattitudexX If you grab a zip line at those speeds, you'll lose your hand.

  • @shortnr I envisioned him having some sort of hook.

there is some shot i remeber of a guy skimming a snow covered face it pretty much looked like at that moment he could have touched down and pulled a landing the slope was perfectly matched to his angle

  • has he done it yet

    i wanna know

  • you're going to have to come in near flat to the ground, then somehow keep from tumbling. Are you going near terminal velocity? That might be tough unless you can scrub off some speed before touchdown. Then you're going to have to be wearing leathers so you don't get road rash as you slide to a stop. Might as well just use a hang glider. A wing suit has such a small area the glide ratio is just not that good.

  • @gt40f I've been keeping up with this for a while and my guess is that a horizontal landing is very problematic so they'll have a steeply slanted landing strip. Also the wing suit I bet will have a way to expand just before landing -- not exactly a parachute, but suddenly larger square footage to slow flight considerably. That's just my semi-educated guess. Leathers? Yes, and padding too. I have no doubt that it can and will be done one way or another. Just hope nobody dies in the process.

  • but realy , it can go if you break like 20m over the ground and roling when you hiting the ground!

  • you have my complete support

  • heard of something called ski jump ? thank you, thank you, far too kind :)

  • nail it jeb.

  • They had to put in every cheesy tandem video song ever in that.

  • god i hate people who sit and bitch about it when people have fun and its dangerous. wtf have you done lately?

  • @Technotron42 i noe right like a get a life or at least try it then you can judge but no they rather bitch and moan like its there child jumping off the plane

  • This is amazing. All the best to this guy.

  • I cant wait for this moment to come and show us all that nothing is impossible:) go jeb !

  • I can imagin that if he adds some wheels (somehow) onto both the upper and lower parts of the body (maybe 2 on chest and 1 on either thigh) he may be able to land on the ground whilst moving forward at 100 miles an hour. The only thing is that an impact of 30 - 40 miles per hour dropping downwards would give a potentially nasty injury...other than that, heaven only knows what he's going to come up with to land safely.

  • I suppose the most feasable way to land would to create a big 100-200ft tower supporting a landing ramp. sort of like a huge slip and slide, or one of those inflatable slides that are deployed from commercial aircraft to allow passengers to slip off the plane to safety.

If they made it really soft and gave it a steep slope im sure you could pull off a decently graceful landing.

  • now thats crazy without a parachute??

  • buddy is going to die if he ever tries this

  • Both the news anchors jumped out of planes before? lol weird..

  • hahaha probly guna have to figure that out... wasnt that what the clip was about? lol good idea though!!

  • Dwains dead. Now how do you feel?

  • I think if you had any reading skills you would know that I knew that DW was dead

  • @LCPStud Dwain was one of the best base jumpers to ever live, the guy was a pioneer.

You might not like the idea of skydiving or base jumping but who cares? Dont abuse other people who pursue sports your not interested in.

To comment like that about somone thats dead is even more pathetic.

  • Anybody catch that conversation at the end?

Guy:" even with a parachute there is a lot of impact"

Girl: "Yeah they are gonna have to figure that out."

No shit?!? I don't think they were paying attention.

  • bollocks bollocks bollocks will be a long time b4 someone lands a wingsuit and there will b lots of deaths trying...

  • yeah, that was no 6 feet... and did he have his head surgically modified like that to cut through the air?

  • Jeb is very talented at jumping, not so good at estimating distance. "Six feet away from the Rio statue" - yeah, riiigghht....

and he said he was 5-10 feet away from the ridge of the Matterhorn on the way down.

Never mind, doesn't take away from his achievements.

  • you're right, it didnt look like he was that close to the statue, but i've seen other videos of him flying with his outstretched arms inches from cliff faces and the sides of buildings.

  • I think at those speeds it distorts your perception a little bit. Remember from kart racing when you're low to the ground it seems so much faster.

  • @gruff5 I would guess he mixed up feet with meters.

  • @gruff5 huh? I would like to see you try to and estimate distances at those distances...

  • @gruff5 i saw him flying down the matterhorn and at one second he saw closer to 3 feet away from the ridge! only for a fraction of a second tho!

  • @gruff5 That is true, but I also believe when he flew "the crack" he came within about 15ft from the camera man who was standing below him.. so the proximity is achievable, but judging it at 120mph whilst concentrating on the line of sight etc wouldn't be so easy, hence the easy mistake ..

  • @gruff5 I agree that his estimation of the distances is a little...generous. I can understand that it is difficult to gauge distances accurately at 80-100mph as well though. All that being said, he's reasonably accurate, and I am excited to see him do it! =D

  • I suppose if anybody can do it Jeff Corliss could. He looks like a tall, lanky person, probably long legs & arms that may have the best chance of improvising as an airframe for his intended purpose.

  • So whatever happened, it said this Spring he is testing it and this video is from at the latest May 2008.

  • u go bra!!!!!!

  • Good luck man!

  • bet those guys have nice abs

  • Maybe the secret landing structure is a water slide that goes into a jacuzzi with 2 bikini babes already occupying it

  • the Norwgian VKB is tha BOMB in wingsuite flying. they piss on this bald fool.

  • so..cool!

  • Oh yeah I think its possible, but just for one time !

  • I heard somewhere that at the slowest with a wingsuit you are only falling at about 30mph i suppose if you were going that speed when you hit the ground it would be survivable, I don't think anyones gonna try it though... Also to be going slow vertically you would have to be going faster horizontally so you would probarbly grate your face off whilst sliding along the floor.

  • I've just seen a video with live GPS data from Vampire V3 flight, where the lowest vertical speed was 36 km/h, averaging 40-64 km/h.

  • landing whitout a chute :D ? yaa right :)

  • hoolyyy shiiittt

  • Norway

  • Which countries on earth have facilities for sky diving and wingsuit jumps?

    let me know someone

  • Whats the difference between a huge slide and a parachute? About 39,998,000 dollars! Either way your not landing a wingsuit the way he originally set out to do. Still using a contraption to decrease your speed.

  • it's doable.

  • Lets see you do it. All this talk about landing a wingsuit and now he needs a multi million dollar slide to do it? Is that really much different than flying from one plane and getting into another? You still need something besides a wingsuit to land.

  • You've got a point... this is very interesting though. It would be great to see a landing on a snowy hill and i think some crazyass could do that some day. But this first step is important.

  • i hope he does it, but i dont like him... hes so cocky

  • "...it'll probably be a lot easier if you got Bono singing in your ear." LOL!

I actually used to run through the song Vertigo, in my mind, when preparing for the ground rush of jumping from high places, during parkour. I should probably start doing that, again.

  • FYI, if you know what you're doing, there is no impact when landing a ram-air canopy. You fly into the wind, flare correctly, and essentially put your feet down and stand up.

  • If you want to fly with wingsuit start with 'Prodigy' ! It's good for begginers ! :)

Jeb you are awesome dude :)

  • where can i get a wingsuit?

  • LOL! wal-mart.....
