Ok sirs, we have a problem here, because i see 2 Zeras have passed by here, show yourselves, because i'm a fucking Geohound and i eat popes for breakfast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss this game so much, I hope to play this again someday. I'm brazillian and I never thought this game would have portuguese themes. It's so beautiful, like the ''A Deus'' song.
portuges sim... Louvem! Madrugada Alma bela dança de terra ó sintam! O vendaval da coragem Transbordem! leite da terra Beijo do ceu chuva do rejubilo Uma semente peguena desejo Grande grande grande... Cultivem, um caminho novo caminho Festejem, Caeifem, um milão De espigas as espigas do destino Cantem, a nossa canção Transmitam, canção do povo Força cordial porta
I'm Brazilian, I could understand about half of the song, her Japanese accent is too thick. Its just like the Japanese trying to sing in English, you can barely understand them. Lovely song
@Justforvisit Not really...the Japanese are HORRIBLE at languages. Look at the example they use when singing with english words, you cannot understand what they are saying. Even my friend Yuki said that. Like Propeller, they say 'Pulopela' they just cannot reproduce some sounds we do normally.
Ahhh...haven't heard that epic song for waaay to long...especially from 1:09 when the beat sets in.....but I have to admit, the ingame version is a lot more moving, first almost all silent, a thin voice in the darkness, echoing, and then after a while all villagers singing along and building up a mighty chorus against valmar.....jeeeez.....anyone still want's to know why Grandia is called Grandia? Just listen to the IG version of Cancao do Povo and you'll know ;) This one is epic too :)
As I understood it she is Portuguese and the song is Japanese. I'll come up with her name again and post it. She has a lot of great works. I stand corrected...Kaori Kawasumi
There is something mystical about this song. Truly a masterful piece. Truly good music gives you a feeling that can only be described in the music, and the lyrics cannot decipher them. That is why music is the world's universal connection to each other.
this was my A-bsolute fav song as a child. thank you so much for posting it, i had the soundtrack originally, but over the years, it got misplaced. you are awesome!
LOL at japanese accent. Portuguese is my main language (Brazil) and I can't understand a single word of what she's saying. Anyway, song is as great as the game, every RPG addicted should finish it at least once.
I love this song, shame I have no idea what she is saying. I do have both soundtracks. BTW if you like Grandia 2 music, listen to the original Grandia soundtrack. The ochestra songs are amazing.
Theres english lyrics for this songs, what shes speaking of only makes this song more grand, shes talking about mother earth and hope and wishes, this song is beyond epic, its so touching, you can feel it with your soul
(English) It is Portuguese! Dah, don't tell me that you have difficulties to understand the the girl's Japanese, plus, she is singing in religious style (maybe Gregorian?) in Japanese style. SO You didn't yet heard a Açoriano speak!?
@ShikibuSan One of the reason's of it being in portuguese is the religious theme in all the game. Portugal is a very religious country (or at least it is compared to other european countries), and we have Fatima's berth (not sure if this is the correct english translation).
Funny how times changed, BOF series used to be censored due to the religious content, but Grandia 2 did not change a thing
I think the last commentator says, that it can´t be portuguese. Or he means that the lyrics aren´t build complete sentences. I only guessed, I understand no portuguese, either...^^°
Oh, it's definitely Portuguese.. or is at least BASED on Portuguese. I read that the song was changed to sound more Japanese, but the original lyrics were Portuguese.
Really? It doesn't sound Japanese at all if that's really what they were going for lol. I still love this song, though. I can't find the soundtracks anywhere for sale or download for that matter.
*sigh* I'll have to stick to these YouTube videos.
Which is probably where my "They used portuguese but changed it to sound more Japanese" thing comes from. I understand where you're coming from, though. I don't know any but the lyrics and her pronunciation don't match up.
Bonita canção em Português!!! CANÇÃO DO POVO (Song Of The People) Louvem! madrugada alma bela dança de terra ó sintam! o vendaval da coragem Transbordem! leite da terra beijo do ceu chuva do rejubilo uma semente peguena desejo grande grande grande... Cultivem, um caminho novo caminho Festejem, Ceifem, um milhão de espigas as espigas do destino Cantem, a nossa canção Transmitam, canção do povo força cordial porta da esperança...
I couldn't find the song anywhere and it was quite hard since I didn't know the name in the first place. Yay for people like you who actually know such things and upload them. :D I just -love- that song!
I liked a lot of the songs in Grandia 2 but I don't remember most of them, at least not too well, so I can't really give you any info or names. I'll just go through the ones you've uploaded, I'm sure I'll remember them. Haven't played in years, so my memory fails me. xD

For me, the best part comes at 2:03 when the melody turns into the original Grandia 1 theme!

An orchestral version of this plays at the end of grandia 1, but I can't seem to find that version in any of the ost i've heard.

@madebynewt Well, but in this case I think it's intended...makes it even more special.
heh, wouldn't fit to a fantasy world when one of the main characters would sing plain portugese, a real language =P

@Justforvisit mind you I mean singing, Yuki spoke very good English. But she lived in the US :)
