Love Russians. Not afraid to push their skills and equipment to the limits on a daily basis. Always wonderful to watch videos like this with Sukhois flying spectacular, as well as ground vehicles like the T-90 being driven so hard yet they power on like a true tank. I don't watch many US military videos but I don't see them driving/piloting their stuff as hard, I also could care less for US equipment and I am also Canadian. I'd much rather Canada purchase these than overpriced F35s...
Ha, ha, this is right in the face of all of those trolls who say that Russian fighters are only for show and will never be able to perform these maneuvers with a combat load. Good video.
I've been waiting for footage of one of these planes doing that move while fully loaded... still not sure what good it'll do against a stealth plane shooting a AMRAAM from 50+ miles away but if/when things get to knife range (dog fighting) it does seem like a plane with this capability would have a advantage... but again, just how many of these planes have been produced? It's one thing to show this off at airshows.. it's another to have it squadron strength.
Ha,Ha-only from 50 miles away???Don't you know the range of the Su-35 radar or the range of those mid-range and long&ultra long range missiles this plane can carry?Maybe you should ask yourself if F-22 will ever see Su-35 in visual range combat.You just shit all over any video that has something to do with Russian weaponry.Range of Su-35 radar is 300km,of it's missiles longer than anything in Usaf arsenal.F-22 already cancelled,plagued by defects,assigned on coastal duties
@BoxyTheSpaceDog No sir. I do not just "shit all over any video that has something to do with Russian weaponry". In fact, I am often very complimentary and admiring of Russian weaponry (especially the AK-47 of which I own two semi-auto variants). I am not blind to the technical issues of F-22. However, in a modern dogfight there are many considerations like range, maneuverability, firepower, sensor range and today, stealth (150+ F-22) which can offer first shot advantage.
@1977Yakko Truthfully, we'd be better off giving a massive overhaul to our existing fighters, namely the F-15 and F/A-18, rather than attempting to rely too heavily on stealth technology. We've over-relied on new technology many times in the past, like Vietnam, look how that went.
We need to upgrade the radar, weapons systems, and other characteristics of those fighters. In particular, they need to be equipped with thrust-vectoring as well.
@MrViTopol The era of the dog fight has been declared dead before by "experts". It was once thought that jet engines would make planes too fast as to make dog fighting unfeasible and with the advent of missiles the dog fight was thought dead too. Advances like stealth and more accurate long range missiles might make dog fighting less and less frequent but I don't think it' gone yet. There will be times when the planes get within "knife range" and duke it out with guns and such.
F-22 was never made to be attack plane. Its meant to be only for defense of US soil. F-22s range without fue tanks is rather small and its only for defending some territory. If going on patrol or in escort it needs fuel tanks which makes him much more visible on radar. Su-35 can detect that AMRAAM and evade it. Only small percent of missiles actually hit the target. And at the time he evades it F-22 will be in dogfight with it and at that point stealth doesnt mean anything
Well F-22 is great plane if his task is defence and interception of enemies. Best in that because of stealth advantage and great electronics and weaponry, but people usually forget that there are many more aspects of use of fighter planes and thats where`s F-22 inferior to Su-35.
@NosferatuAaacaado It is the best air superiority fighter in the world, IF they manage to make it work, get it into air without scratching precious RAM, make it airborne without sufficating pilot etc.
@sukhoi235 F-22s combat radius is 1460 km versus Su-27's 1760 km. Not that bad. F-22 can also evade R-27s just as easily so I dont see any advantage about that either. Assuming Su-35 has 3sqm RCS, APG-77 detect it 315 km away, so F-22 will have significant energy advantage againist Su-35 in both BVR and CAC. Still, there are other factors. 1- Costs: Can F-22(356mil$) match againist 7x Su-35S(50mil$)s? 2- Reliability: Su-35 can take off from dirt. Did F-22 EVER take off and work 100% as intended?
And yes, there are only 10-15 Su-35s but F-22 has never been used in combat and it has some big problems so both of theese arent really backbone of their air forces. Compare Su-27, F-15, F-16, MiG-29, theese are widely used planes and theese are to be compared. And on the other hand, why even comparing Su-35 with F-22? Theese arent even same generation planes and its not like Russia and US will go to war. Compare Su-35 with other 4th gen planes and F-22 with PAK-FA.
@1977Yakko ill put in a NICER way than that boxy guy. the SU-35 Irbis-E radar is pretty much the most advanced for aerial combat. capable of detecting 30 aerial targets from 250+ miles away, and simultaneosly engaging 8 aerial, or 4 surface, or a combo of 4 surface and 2 aerial. the Su-35 carries like 10-12 harpoints depending on the mission. The Russians are bosses at modernizing their current weapons than wasting money and time on useless tech like stealth.
@1977Yakko it is also possible to get detected by radar, even if your plane is stealthy. Radars have a capability called "low frequency" this way, radar waves travel a longer distance. low frequency is like walking, and when you walk, you can go farther, HF is like running, and you can't run that far. In 1999, during the yugoslavian wars, an F-117 was shot down by an SA-3, operating on low frequency radar. The plane that was supposed to be undetectable was detected by 1980s soviet radar.

@AndraxxusNephilem Best superiority fighter indeed, as in anywhere but over Russian Federation aerospace.
The point being - Raptor is only worth for bullying 3rd world countries without the means to detect F-22s quick enough - like Iran.

@AndraxxusNephilem let's see a Raptor dodge a salvo of 2 r-27, an RVV-AE-PD and an r-37.
Point being - a russian pilot will only have to worry about AMRAAMs, while a yankee is in for a massive palm sweating session.
