  • The great thinker, we can all learn a lot from him. I recommend everyone interested in their own self-development. Pozdrawiam

  • WONDERFUL

  • It is so that we identify with that which we have worked for in relation to that which we believe we possess or own. In other words the most important person in any incorporated institution are the ones working in the figurative mineshaft. When and if they are motivated by monetary gain it is so they can provide for the ones they love and are forced into labor for to pay their bills just like the incorporated entity. The end user of any product is the customer and that is where the buck ends.

  • profound

  • i can say that in some way he is my guru. i'm reading his 5th book now.

  • The trouble with academics is that they come across very dry and boring, the masses are programmed for upbeat and aggressive delivery, we need more intelligent people like Bill Hicks or George Carlin to deliver their wisdom so the dumbed down masses can hear it.

  • @reziztance

Go fuck urself u piece of yankeeshite!!

  • This is wonderful, thank you for posting, much appreciated

  • seria maravilloso que suieran estos videos del maestro fromm con subtitulos en español.

  • All he, and the rest of his crackpot Jew Marxists preach, is mumbo jumbo. Mumbo Jumbo, aimed at destroying western society. Sadly, it's got millions of silly white people following it.

  • @MrLukasart Fromm doesn't have the interest of man at heart, but more of hastening his Marxist Madhouse on the world.

  • @reziztanze

Listen to what he says about why a person publishes a book.

  • Everyone who wants to understand why a world so materially wealthy is also so profoundly unhappy needs to watch this interview and read the book to which it relates. You will never see your closest friends and family in quite the same way again, once you think of them in terms of 'having' and 'being' modes of existence.

  • Thank you so much for this !!!

  • Interesting reading his concepts on Freud - Often he tends to say that Freud had the right idea but offers his own hypothesis which makes more sense .

  • DAMMIT I lost concentration when the camera shot the back of dude's comb-over! 2:01

  • haha I know... I thought the same. In México we'll say "Oaxaca's cheese hairstyle". If you see an image of Oaxaca's cheese, you will get what I mean.

  • hahahahahaha :D

  • Could we get some more info? When was this done? Who is the interviewer? How long is the full interview?

  • 4:25 !

I feel I am doing injustice to the other seconds

  • Isn't it sad that people in the USA prefer listening to hate-spewing individuals like Michael Savage and O'Riley rather than to men of peace and reason like Erich Fromm

  • It's because of the foolish "common man" shtick that those guys are so good at pulling off. It's the same reason Bush won two terms. Many Americans don't seem to find actual intelligence an attractive quality anymore.

  • We live in a world, when you cannot be completely stupid (in a sense you get bad marks at school, have problems in learning), but you cannot be truly intelligent either. You have to fit in a thin area of what is considered 'OK' by the mass culture presented to us by the mainstream media.

  • lol I'm american and I don't listen to those faggots.

  • You're calling those homophobic right wing morons who hate and fear gays and lesbians "faggots"? Stupid comment. Stop using that word - it's like the "n" word.

  • Like i care what your faggot ass has to say. Peace kid.

  • Just don't generalize. Not everyone in the USA does that.

  • But most people do. And not only in America. Actually, the majority of the people is like that everywhere, which is really sad.

  • Thank god not everyone in the USA listens to Michael Savage, and O'Riley and the other right-wing hate-mongers, but sadly, the charts show that most do

  • Don't generalize.

  • @subscriber77 Yet, this is a bit hate-spewing too. There is no need to compare Fromm to Savage and O'Riley to like Fromm. Have a good life!

  • @mc0558 I contrasted Savage and O'Really. I would never compare Fromm, who is an intelligent and decent human being, to those two lying hate-mongers, who get millions from the 1% for his efforts to keep the 99% ignorant.

  • @subscriber77 I am afraid it has been this way throughout our history...Hitler drew crowds as well

  • yes thank you very much for this, his books are amazing and the website too

  • Like many before me I would just like to say thank you for posting this. Erich Fromm is a great light. Providing such wisdom is a great service to us all.

    Anthony Lennon

  • Thanks so much for posting this interview!

  • great interview,

i would just like to say thank you very much for this. I am a high school student, I am 15 years old. I just wanted to let you know that videos like these are what youtube was really ment for and it is these videos are still helping to inform our youth

    Thank You,

    Jessie

  • @jncdrama2393 I discovered Fromm as a teen also! I wish I had listened closer to his wisdom. I am only now realizing the depth of this now...

  • @jncdrama2393 i'm so happy to see here so young soul-mate! i can say that in some way erich fromm is my guru. i'm reading his 5th book now.

  • Correction-- peace candidates--

  • Correction:

Many say peace candidates like Kucinich, McKinney, or Sheehan are all long-shots-- and end up voting for "winners" who end up supporting war and destruction.

In this video, Erich Fromm says that if we were betters we would be foolish to place our bets on a horse that stands a 20% chance of winning. But he also said-- significantly-- that when what we are taking a chances that involve life and death-- we have no other choice but to choose life.
