  • Well I love it and that's all I give a flying f*** about!

  • Interesting cover. "Sexy Sadie" was the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, whom the Beatles had gone to visit in India. John Lennon thought that the Maharishi had made a pass at a female member of their group. He left, disillusioned with the guru, but Paul McCartney still practices Transcendental Meditation to this day. Can you imagine if the lyrics were "Maharishi, what have you done?" as John originally sang? The Maharishi dies in 2008.

  • @kholmes39 yeah we know

  • Well i think it was a marvellous effort. I bloody fantastic song, you have done it proud.

  • Not very inspiring, is it? Also, I do wonder why so many female singers these days put on that Kate Nash style of vocal.

  • Tell you what inkymoon you go listen to your version and I'll go listen to this one. I was about when the Beatles were around and there were no more egotistical or ignorant people than Lennon and McCartney.

  • call the police - they've murdered a flawless song - it's an art to make such a fantastic song appear so lifeless. The new 'ending' truly sucks - trying to add to a Beatles song shows a total ignorance of songwriting and an over-active ego/PR machine. Awful version

  • great & sexy

  • the colors are so vibrant!

  • well i was about to give a negative comment but what the eck you sang the song how you wanted to sing it and im sure lennon wouldnt have minded if he heard it, so carry on folks, your ok, keep making music, the world needs it.

  • Very dull, I recommend the Paul Weller version... Sorry, they lack emotion and the lady in the black dress is plain awful.

  • the singer on the right looks like karen brady!!!!

    Your Fired!!!!!!!!!!

  • one of my personal fav beatles covers, it adds a new dimension to the song IMO

  • I think it's a really good version but possibly the least sexy song ever... that has the word "sexy" in the title?

  • @BGill76 That is because the song is about the degrading pitfalls of shallow and meaningless sexuallity. Nothing is less "sexy" than a girl (person) going through the motions of sexuallity in order to feel valid. Sadie 'lays it down for all to see' and yet her only real impact on others is as a distraction to 'the real deal'...love. She'll get hers' yet... Ps- Have you met Bob Dobbs?

  • ohhh good... good.. really good!

  • a sort of glee version..

  • YES WEAK BUT NEVERLESS A QUAINT VERSION

  • This is not bad at all, just different. Pianist could use a cup of coffee, maybe.

  • dear jasperhappy, try waking up and listening to joanna newsom, jeff buckley, patti smith, joan aspolicewoman, neutral milk hotel, mgmt, regina spector, rufuswainwright, sergegainsbourg, thebeatles, the stones thedoors, theshins, the smiths, milesdavis, steviewonder, sufjanstevens, fleetfoxes, beck, beachhouse, lauramarling, magic numbers, yeah yeah yeahs, velvets, van morrison, talk talk or your favourites, boyzone, and then try to get back to us with something resembling a sentence.

  • @FEVERHICKEN how could you forget the Wild beasts????????

  • chill interpretation. the guy who thinks they should use the upper register can't hear how great this is. shame. sometimes less is more.

  • ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • @manygate10 I was being ironic. Everybody has an accent of one kind or another.

  • Nice one Lids n liddets ;)

  • This is the way Carol King would have done it!

  • I really enjoyed this!

  • Nice, but not well mixed, vocals are too low... also the other vocals are rather dead, you are supposed to go on the higher octave at parts,

  • Beautiful version i like the fact your singing in a church lovely voices almost angelic

  • Amazing - Cant wai until concerts early November at the Union Chapel Islington

  • Just back from their gig in an intimate venue- and chatted with Beki and Rachel after-which is not my style at all -but thats what real artists do to you -

  • Wow. This is so beautiful - this is how cover versions should be. Distinctive and still recognizable.

  • real good inspiratiopn and skillz !

Really great also in taste - we should hear more from you !!!

    Martin

  • I love this song, but the sound of this version calls to every hair on the back of my head to rise and consume every note! Absolutely awesome arrangement and mesmerising sound.

  • yea!

  • Excellent version of the song! Can't wait to see her at The Green Man Festival!

If you like The Unthanks you might also like my music. I'm an alt-country songwriter based in the UK. Check out the vids on my profile and let me know what you think!

  • Never knew English folk could sound this good.

  • @MrBushytop Shame they let themselves down with the daft choice of song - must be twisted. I think a better choice would be to cover "Not Guilty" by Beatles - now that would sound good.

  • Choogin-Da!

  • Wow this is great!! :D So artistic and mellow. I love their accents too!

  • thanks guys

  • Completely breathtaking version!

  • Highly innovative interpretation of this song. Lennon would have loved it (not sure if Paul would though). Highly dramatic and creative ending. Thanks Unthanks and come to Australia...PLEASE!!!

  • i can't get past Charles Manson with this song

  • You can hear the accent alot..

  • @helloimcalledbob What accent?

  • @johnabenford Think you'll find the answer in the band's introduction (ref Guardian).

  • sounds like a James Bond them with the tempo dialed back a notch or two

    (and karma police, obv)

  • I liked the way the stained glass depiction of piety lost focus as she sang how sexy sadie would get hers yet. And in a church! The nerve!

They took a most unlikely beatles song and made it their own...surely Lennon would be flattered.

I watched the whole 6 minutes and loved it.

I hope they went to confession afterwards..

  • i like their other video where they FOOK

  • Very good, but this is one of those remakes that doesn't quite capture the soul of the original...

  • I don't think they're trying to!

  • Utterly brilliant! Had never heard of those girls, but then I did on the free CD with some music magazine of covers of 'The White Album' and this was the best cover.

  • Saw them on Jools last night, loved the 2 songs, and the dancing, very pretty girls too.

  • really original love it

  • jools holland soon?

  • Most amazing group of artists
