Its just amazing when life has you travelling through darkness that just cant dissipate that the only thing one can relate to is dark lyrics like this. How is anybody supposed to crawl through when the sound of wham(not that theres anything wrong with them) sends me squirming. Anything cheerfull just makes me squirm yet i can listen to this song for hours and the words go through my head like poetry. Has anyone heard the lyrics of Bon Iver? Equally amazing, for those that dont need a pick me up
@frcek86 I partially agree with you wholeheartedly hahaha, but have you checked out the lyrics for 'Everything she wants" by Wham? give it a second go I think you'll really dig them.
i agree the line that really shows it is "Maybe you got a kid, maybe you got a pretty wife the only thing that I got's been both'rin' me my whole life"
but you talking about "nebraska" the song, not "state trooper".. nebraska is inspired by a film with martin sheen called "badlands" that´s based on true story, i read.
This song was supposedly inspired by Suicide, the early 1980's rock duo (Alan Vega & Martin Rev). I can see the influence now that I've heard Bruce play it solo.
Holy Shit! This is amazing!

This is a song off the Nebraska album. He is singing about a guy who took off with his girlfriend on a killing spree in Nebraska. True story.
You really need to listen to the whole album to get it, hope this helps.

@dococolo thank you, I was a bit confused there, now I have a movie to watch, do you know the year? I should be able to find it.

he's saying 'please don't stop me' - like it's a threat... (ie. I got nothin' to loose if you do stop me - "bet you got a pretty wife"... dark)

very true. Check the version of dream baby dream played by Springsteen at the Seeger Session tour. It's somewhere on youtube.

crazy dudes man..Vega was nuts!! I'd like to know what I would have thought seeing them in 1980. How I would have reacted.

Yeah, it's quite obvious actually. The song is built the same way Suicide songs are built.
