The Penny fathing was also called the 'ordinary', my late grandfather had one. In my local Town a company (Spiller & Webber Est 1890 closed 2009), used to sponsor the racing of ordinary's until the 2nd World War. Quite a sport in its time apparently.

I really enjoyed this. My late Grand Papa was mayor of the little town he lived in around the 1920's and he told me that he rode on of these into the office until my Granny had it stolen so he wouldn't ride this, "dangerous contraption", and kill himself. This was a hoot.Cat flatulence .. btw Paul,that reminds me of the time my family and Dog Sheba piled into our Car to go somewhere. All of a sudden the air was rank,so a chorus of,'' Did you do that?" resounded amongst the 6 of us in the Car.Then all at once we realized who the only one that was left."SHEBA!" we all cried out at once and all we got from the Dog were apologetic eyes and a sad look.
