@Codsrock Near 17 or maybe under. Slash got his first guitar at 15 and Santana first learned to play at 8. He was playing in festivals before he was 19.

How come Disturbed didn't start having solos until the Ten Thousand fists record if Dan has always been able to do that kind of stuff?

@FollowHim4Eternity Dan had never liked putting solos where they don't belong. He doesn't feel a need to show off if it doesn't do justice to the song. Which is something that gives me deep, deep respect for him as a guitarist.

@w8ulostme You're 100% correct. It's a shame that so many people who are uneducated when it comes to music think that the guitarist who shreds the best is automatically better than someone else. There's a difference between being a good guitarist and a good musician, Dan happens to be both. And when he does write a solo for a song it actually has feeling and really flows with the song instead of a bunch of mindless shredding like some shit band like Dragon Force.

@FollowHim4Eternity Because at the time, they just didn't feel it fit their sound. I personally preferred the pre-fists Disturbed anyway.

@FollowHim4Eternity What's up dude, Once again we meet. I'll answer that question since the other guy didn't exactly answer it. Dan didn't start having solo's til TTF because Disturbed felt Solo's would get in the way of the style they wanted to impart, Such as Davids staccato vocals, Disturbed's base was the feel, then then the flow, followed by the progression. That's why the music gets more intense, because early on they didn't want to overwhelm their sound. Have a nice day.
