Haha, Danko is not a very good guitarplayer, hes got hes own style and executes that stuff with full satisfaction like no one els, but when it comes to master the instrument hes got a LOT to learn, and to be honest hes guitarsound is realt crap...and that hi-watt shit he plays...he could get so much more out of a real amp like Engle or a Mesa.

Non of them ever recorded with Hi-watt so I would not have any problem sayin that to them!, not even Danko records on Hi-Watt!

Hi-watt is shit in my opinion, lots of players have them on stage cause the look cool, but dont have the heads connected, I know for sure that The Hives only have theirs on stage for estetichs, theyve got marshalls and fender amps behind the Hi-watts...and to qoute their guitartech "I wish they dumped that Hi-Watt shit, it sounds terrible!"

"Most of Animals, David’s first solo album, The Wall and Final Cut were recorded with a Hiwatt DR103 and WEM 4×12” cabinets. In an interview with Sound Magazine in ’83 David mentions “For amplifiers I used a Hiwatt 100 and two 4×12’s."

And thats just the Floyd, never mind the fact that The Who used them all the time, Jimmy Page had Hi-Watt make him custom amps, and Hendrix used them at times.

But I guess those guys dont know anything about tone, right?

well, My bad, but to be honest, check Gilmours gear and youll find hes been usin 2 diff hi-watts over the years but a ton of marshalls a ton of fenders and a ton of mesa´s and that just for the major brands...and on the Hi-Watt days he had a hughe freaking effect park with electrotronix and peter cornish, and also he used mesa for leads, boost and distrotion so the hi-watts was just...high watt outputs, not even using the standarad 4x12"´s...says alot!

You make some good points I'll stand by my opinion that they are good amps, The Who (Not sure who exactly) said that the early soundcity Hi-Watts were plain better than the Marshalls, even though I belive the 200watt Marshalls were the most powerful amps at the time.

Also I have no opinion on new Hi-Watt stuff, for all I know it could be terrible terrible stuff. I have been perfectly content with my VoxAc30 no gas for a new guitar amp!

well, there you go, the Ac30 is real good sounding classic, wouldn´t mind having one myself!

To be honest, I´ve only tried out Hi-Watt during line-checks and had limited time to mess around with it for obvious reasons AND they where all brand new amps, I´m sure old Hi-watts sounds better as most other brands old modells do, they dont make them as they used to, and to get a good sounding valve amp, without solid state, modulators, valvtronix is hard these days, and costly!

And second, aesthetics wise they are very plain looking amps, Fenders and Marshalls are far fancier looking amps.

If these guys were in it just for aesthetics they would have a nice Marshall Stack out there, or a Vox AC30 or something
