Yes you do get harder but you also want to give HIM enough time to respond. With his horsenality he needs alot of time to think things over and to get to the "thinking" side. he did blow me off occasionally in this video and that's when the phases got harder :)
i'm just now using Parelli with my horses... i used to hang out with some people that hated Parelli.. then i switched boarding stables and learned about Parelli and just fell in love with it! My horses are already picking up on it after just a few days! My mare doesn't like the yoyo game though haha
but my instructor said that when she tried this with about 8 or 9 of her horses, they all ran reaally far backwards, do you know why they could be doing this?
What are the horsenalities? Could she be asking too hard and skipping or going too fast up in phases? Alot of things could make a horse do that really.
@kandyandkarmel it's pressure and release...I put pressure by wiggling the rope and sending energy to him (I try to push him back)...when he even so much as leans back I release. Horse's from pressure and release. Now all I have to do with him is send energy towards him and he backs up :)
One more quick comment, i liked how you became more agressive when he lost your interest, but i think you need to demand a reaction much quicker. If he doesnt do it immediately then go to using your whole arm then he will be more quick to react when you just use your finger.
I went up using phases....phase 4 was the aggressive phase that you commented on. Phase 1 was wigglign the finger and phases 2-3 were the ones in between.
Yes at times skipping phases is required but at that time I did not feel it was necessary. Maybe I would have done it differently now but I was still new to Parelli then
Wow when you first started the yoyo game how did you get him to go back because even when i shake the rope really hard (including my own arm) my horse still doesnt go back. if i go back she walks right up to me so there is no space to shake the leadrope lol its annoying! thanks :D
it's best to contact a Parelli professional with questions because they are the ones that can truely help you solve the problem and be able to answer your questions better then I would be able to
it's something to work on. This was an old video and Sonny was definitely not interested in me and I was horrible at it. It's something that both you and the horse improve at with practice.
Hello, like was mentioned on the forum, you'll have more success when you raise your energy and intent (envision a pushing energy coming from your navel, and use your 'schweigermutter' look!), also spend a very exact amount of time (say, five seconds) at phase one (gently asking), then only one second each and phases 2,3,and 4 (getting firmer each time for those not familiar with Parelli language). :D
I learnt how to do this last sunday :D
