I heard a version of this in 1990ish at Captain Tony's in Key West, FL. A guy that went by the name of Tumbleweed Ted had a country version of it on an album he recorded.
This is a great record. It was originally recorded by Ricky and the Redstreaks in, I believe, 1980. I saw them sing it many times at Harrah's Cabaret.
@suspectVandal Didn't know that...though Chubby is even filthier at his best (if you can understand WTF he's saying...glad I have some English friends who passed on some of his stuff)
Those are the matrix numbers. You can figure out a year from the matrices of certain pressing plants. Columbia and RCA used codes for years, and some plants like Monarch and Rite were in certain series during certain years. Sometimes the matrix numbers don't indicate a year, though
This really is quite a prize. And the B-side should not be listened to whithout listening to the A-side first. Also, the A-side should not be listened to without also listening to the B-side.
What I would really like to know is the copyright date. It appears to be in the middle on the left side of the label. If it's the same as the Raunchy Rock-n-Roll release, it must be about 1995.
This would be about 10 times cooler yet if it had been recorded back when Do-woop was a new style.
Although I can see what you mean, the middle portion of the left side of the label says BMI. I don't have the greatest of cameras, sorry. I believe this was done in the late 70s or early 80s. This is Dig Daddy under a pseudonym
@PJDooWop speaking of Big Daddy were they not the band at the school dance in the movie Book of Love w/ Michael McKean? there name was Eddie Chanooga & the idk? Twilighters or something?
@PJDooWop I am going to purchase the DVD next week, I could have sworn I saw it in the lyrics but I'm not certain but when I saw the comments & heard the lead it sounded mighty familiar. also when I looked at the pic of Big Daddy in the 3rd DOO WOP box by rhino the fella looked familiar so maybe it was them.
I'm not all surprised that's the same Marty.. Big Daddy had quite a sense of humor. Their versions of Flashdance and Do You Really Want To Hurt Me (which are quite good) still crack me up. You did a great job on this production. . You can tell it was recorded later on, but it was done with style.. Well done.
I've got this one on Broadcast. It's flipped with another (milder) x-rated Clovers' accapella ('Derbytown' - a lewder version of 'Darktown Strutters' Ball'). I've also got it on a blank label 45 with another Clovers acappella b-side, a fantastic version of The Orioles' 'It's Too Soon To Know'. These recordings all come, I believe, from one spontaneous mid 50s session, though none of them seem to have seen the light of day until the '70s. Would love to hear more from this session, if more exists.
Thank you. I've seen these in black wax as well but the splash wax is pretty. Hard to tell from the photo but the wax is marbleized with the different colors.
Great post. Does anyone know if these were the guys who became Big Daddy? They did a bunch of covers of eighties hits in old rock and doo wop style. This sounds just like them.
You should check out "B.S. I Love You" by Eighty-Eight on the Flip record label from 1981....hilarious tune with a 50's feel to it. One side of the 45 is censored, the other side uncensored.

Usually the date the vinyl was pressed is embedded in the rim just outside of the lable.
You would have to hold it at an angle to see it. (now I'm showing my age)

@slugo4449 FWIW, there was, in the early '70's, a country song titled, "Come-Stains on My Pillow."
