  • This video shows exactly why stang boys have to S/C everything they drive. It took exhaust and a tune for him to yank a KB GT500. That's pitiful and is exactly why i stick with fbodies and vettes. A supercharger for them is like a camshaft for us lmao! Corvette is king...remember that.

  • @TheMugenboy I don't recall this Vette ever racing an S2000 other than a turbo'd one, which we pulled after the S2000 shifted into 5th. The cool thing about the Z06 is that it is reliable at this power output and retains its stock driving manners, whereas an S2000 isn't nearly as driveable or reliable if it's making enough power to run with a 500 RWHP Z06.

  • The problem with the mustang is its not aerodynamic and its too heavy,,this stang has mor than 100hp over the corvette and it still loses. Mustangs will never be a match for a corvette on the topend unless ford lightns the mustang and makes it more aerodynamic, oh and mustangs can't handle as good as a corvette either

  • The only way to beat a corvette where it shines is to play its own game,,light weight, aerodynamic with alot of hp,,which is why the s2000 beat it,,just imagine if honda put a 7.0L v8 in the s2000 stock the corvette wouldnt beat it,,or not even that big of a V8 just like a 5.0L or 5.6L it would kill the mustang easily and beat the corvette for less money but that'll never happen unless honda wises up V8 is the only way

  • @krav65 We like to see what car is faster - and the best way to see that is to run from a roll because the drivers' ability play less of a roll in the outcome of the race. From a dig, with that kind of power and tires, they both would have been spinning all over the place, it would have been pointless. Also, 99% of impromptu races on the street start from a roll, usually on the highway, so what you can do from a dig doesn't really matter.

  • I don't understand starting a race at 60 MPH. It appears the vette pulls away at the end but I can't help but wonder if the GT 500 was slowing down. The brake lights on the Vette come on just after that. Two awesome cars I would love to drive.

  • @Alonshalev Well with a supercharged or turbo'd car - the heat exchanger/intercooler reaches a limit as to how much it can cool the intake charge (as it gets very hot due to the compression of the air) so once the fluid in the intercooler system heats up, it's ability to cool the intake charge is comprimised, and as a result the intake temperatures increase to the point of the ECU pulling ignition timing, which reduces power output. N/A cars don't really suffer from this.

  • z06 is impossible to beat top end because of weight aerodynamics and overall gearing... a weight of less than 3200 lbs plus oodles of power and torque obviously equals unbeatable top end.

  • Actually, weight has pretty much zero factor in high speed pulls, it's all about aerodynamics and power. In this case, though, I'd still pull up top even though I have a lot less hp because my 4th gear goes more than 20mph higher than the GT 500's does.

  • The Vette is a much nicer car and much faster car stock for stock than the '03 Cobra. The Cobra can be made very fast with the right mods, but so can the Vette. Once you start modding, the brand of the car doesn't have anything to do with how fast they can be, it's all about how much $ you're willing to spend.

  • Who buys a KB kit and runs only 12 lbs of boost? LoL. And the KB kit at 12 lbs of boost is only around 550 rwhp TOPS not no 640 rwhp!! The MINIMUM BOOST for a STAGE 3 KB is 13.5 lbs of boost with the largest pulley on. So in other words the GT500 had the cheap KB kit on with next to ZERO boost. A pullied GT500 would make as much power.

    Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know who would win that race from a high speed roll.

  • Both are nice cars and can move out thats for sure...However the new z06 is a very hard car to beat no matter what it goes up against, especially the gt500 or 03/04 cobra, there weight hurts them....However anyone who runs a 2.8 Kb gt500 at only 12psi is asking for trouble a stock blower pullied ported gt500 would be a good run with the gt500....the 2.8 is not made to be ran at such a low psi crank it up to 18-21 where it belongs and thats where the real power comes in to play.......

Ford should of built a better Shelby Cobra to compete with the Vettes but there was once upon of time they did try to compete with chevy in their engine size im talkn about when they had the 5.0 or 5.8 ltr but even with all that it was still heavy...the only Cobras that comes close to a Vette are the 03-04 cobras and if you lose all that weight w/a mod engine (TT or KB) then maybe just maybe it will get the job done.

You don't know what pulley he is running or what other mods he is running aka heads, cams, headers etc. All will lower boost reading, but surprise surprise they are making more HP with the lower boost reading......

  • well first off the 2007-2009 gt500 has crappy gears like 331 needs like a 355 or 373's. weight is also a factor to with the gt500's pushin close to 4000 pounds. and they have crappy tires as well. I own a 69 mach 1 too. but ford needs to quit being a bitch and build a mustang to compete with the high end corvettes.

    the KB 03/04 cobras on youtube that are beating the ZO6's are running a lot more boost then this gt500 like 18+++ and the gt500 guys or most of them there some 800+ rwhp monsters on here but the others dont want to for go the warranty and the cobras dont have them so they do care so beat the hell of then when the 500s get old there hp and boost will go up and the gt500's are 200 pounds more so hp per hp the cobra will be faster but mod for mod the gt500's will be faster :c)

  • GT 500s don't seem to be as fast on the street as Cobras. The p:w ratio that a Cobra needs to beat a Z06 seems lower than a GT 500. My friend with a 500rwhp Cobra was able to easily pull a bolt on GT 500 making 540rwhp.

  • The weight/aerodynamics of the car comes into play. Corvettes have awesome downforce and aerodynamics where as the newer model mustangs are a bit heavier than their C6 counter parts, which allows the lower HP vette to run with the (heavier) higher HP mustang.

    Gay racing? Races from a dig when you have 500-600 horsepower is not good if it's your daily driven car. Parts will break -- regardless of manufacturer.

    Don't think you can take a "production" car like a GT500 and compare it to a SS, GT, R/T or anything like that.

  • i never claimed i make 640rwhp with stock blower, i actually said 540 rwhp. But i did tell Rick the Evoltion Performance can get a stock blower to 600 rwhp with lower 4lb pulley. I also pointed him to their website. My little short video claims 540 rwhp. I have dyno sheet, mods list from excessive to prove it. would you like a copy i can provide that. Nevertheless i will be close to 700 rwhp in a month or so. I will tape the dyno and do some pulls, and show dyno sheet.

  • Lank all im stating is this look you guys took video and no clear video of kenne bell s/c once again all im saying is this. Kenne Bell S/C have a unique sound and the stock s/c have there own too. I have the stock for alittle while longer and the s/c sound exactly the same as mines. I tried to have you type in 10 sec gt 500 and you will see a guy with a kenne bell running the 3in pulley. Go there for me and tell if you agree, i looked at rick other vids he suggested so try this and reply bk

  • He isn't a fool for running that setup, 640 RWHP is a lot of power - and you're not going to be running much over 700 RWHP on pump gas anyway.

    Ask them about making 640 RWHP on that stock blower - it isn't possible.

A stock Z06 will be a Stock GT 500. The debate is around whether or not the GT 500 had a Kenne Bell S/C in it or not. They're guys you have the new ZR1 supercharged and they pop the hood. There even a guys with 2 (that being a ZR1 and ZO6) and he pops both.   • I drive an '03 Cobra - it's in a few of my videos - it's in that one video I sent you via PM racing a 540 RWHP GT500 like yours, and I pulled it a few cars, how about that. You are dead wrong in your assumption that the GT500 in this video did not have a KB, it's comical how sure you are of yourself when you have no evidence other than "you think". It's impossible to make 640 RWHP on a stock GT500 blower.

  • I'm calling Evolution Performance tomorrow and asking them what's the most RWHP a GT500 can make with the stock blower - I'll report back. I suggest you give them a call as well and ask them.

  • @DaDawg1971 This car has a KB it gets worked on here at wade ford in Smyrna Ga. Modular power house it is maxed out for a pump gas motor !!!!!!!

  • The new body style mustang is just too fucking heavy. Try for the 99-04 generation. Those KB Mustangs walk zo6 all dayyy

  • I say the gt 500 should crank up on the boost and run it at 16-18 psi then he can spank the Zo6, since he be in around the 700's rwhp range. But the Zo6 with a ati procharger is a killer of all kinds, and that Z06 has incrediable traction and there drive train with a beef up clutch can handel some good powershifting. But, the c5 Zo6 with the lingerfelter 725hp twin turbos with an all aluminum LS7 block and heads, upgraded fuel system and clutch. Is the best way to spend ur cash. 9.50 quarter mi.
